  1. There's not much to restructure - all he has left are base salaries. 4 million of 2018 is guaranteed if he's on the roster at the start of the league year. If he's not you suffer 0 dead cap. If it helps net me an extra 3rd so i can cut holmes - I'm in. Basically buying a pick, and he has shown he can be a player in the past... he's literally a 4th year WR.
  2. Sammy's next season contract would have been about 13 million vs. 6.9. The cap hits are roughly in line with Woods just got, and all the guarantee's have already been paid out. Plus if he sucks you just cut him before next season and it's a 1 year rental for not a lot of capital.
  3. Cap hits are 6.9, 7.9 and 9.5 over the rest of the deal if you decide to keep him. Only his 2017 salary is fully guaranteed, so its basically a 1 year 7 million deal. No bonuses in 2018-2020, and only half of 2018 is guaranteed if he's on your roster to start the league years. So it can be essentially 2 years 14 million. Hes 25, has a 1000 yard season... I'd do a deal for a very low pick considering our depth and the fact that it ensures we can cut holmes and net the 3rd round comp pick. Would basically net say a 3rd + Hurns + cash for a 4th or probably later + Holmes...
  4. I like the idea of - focusing on certain things instead of playing a full simulated game. You can have like 15-20 minutes of punting/kick coverage plays at the beginning, then have those specialists off on the sidelines working on other stuff - have the offense go x plays. Throw a pick - get the ball back and continue on offense. Some 7x7 work. 2 minute drills/4 minute drills. Put the QBs in red jerseys. You also wouldn't have to worry as much about the star players playing for like 15-20 minutes and then just hanging out at the end. They'd be involved with the first team O on each of the individual drills. I think 7 would be a good number. 7/16 make it and the best team gets Home field and a 1st round bye. Gets you an extra game of playoff revenue, and means more for the team chasing the bye week.
  5. I mean - i expect to run the ball a lot. The quick passing stuff will be a work in progress all year, so i'd like to see them use a bit of play action to help open things up some.
  6. I for one doubt we can finish last this year. Or even 2nd to last.
  7. Just worry about the fit, or a John Elway/Eli Manning type of situation. It IS buffalo after all.
  8. if 1-2 need QBs i don't want to move up. I'd rather have the 7 players from the first 3 rounds. There will be other QBs in here that have just as good a chance as them to be good. I personally don't want Darnold or Rosen - for the simple fact that I don't think they're a fit for Buffalo. Los Angeles and Buffalo couldn't be more different.
  9. I'm not giving up tons of picks just to get there though.... There will be other Qbs on the rise this year who might also be good.
  10. Where would you rank sammy as a wide receiver league wide - right now? Not based on potential.
  11. if we draft all 6 players, all 6 will have a combined salary less than watkins. They come with 4-5 years of control, and are much cheaper. You can't just keep extending everyone. New england dumped Logan Mankins, Jamie Collins, and Chandler jones for picks. You don't have to rely on a comp pick formula if you trade players before they walk.
  12. Pretty much how i feel. He has the POTENTIAL to be a top 10 receiver. He does not deserve to be given that label.
  13. He's in a good situation though where he won't be rushed onto the field. The only concern is that Reid runs a west coast offense, so timing and precision are largely more important than chucking it down the field. Bad footwork tends to sail throws causing turnovers and preventing YAC.
  14. Matthews is a UFA.
  15. Can always cut him and bring him back after week 1 too. I seriously doubt people will be lining up for him anyway. Same with Ryan Davis.
  16. 3 years 18 million with no dead cap if he's traded. We on the other hand would have a higher cap hit at around 7.8 million for 2017. Doesn't make sense unless there's a really high pick involved.
  17. I'm sure he has his reasons. Pretty good chunk of change he's walking away from. They clearly felt better about trading Sammy once they brought him in. Now it gets interesting!
  18. If we can't keep preston it makes sense to have a guy with a year in the system. he's affordable and already under contract.
  19. It's guaranteed for injury only. It wouldn't need to be that much. I'm taking on cap space/cash for a pick. All we pay is his base salary of like 3 million, and keep him on the 53 and never activate him.
  20. It's injury-only though. Hence he wears sweatpants the whole year.
  21. I'd do the 2nd in a heartbeat. 3.2 million and he never sees the field even in practice. Opt out of the 5th year.
  22. Agreed - you can't UN-pick up his 5th year option. He's at that RG3 unplayable level now.
  23. Good post. Agree with pretty much everything. Gotta get the plays in quicker so TT can use motion to help recognize coverage, make protection adjustments, etc. He just can't be late on the delivery. Bad decisions in pre-season aren't the end of the world, but you'd like to see him moving the sticks some. He got rattled and it showed. From a penalty perspective, there will always be more in preseason. Roster bubble guys will make mistakes trying to make plays and stuff. But I hate holding on offense, and I hate illegal shift/motion penalties. These shouldn't happen. We're seeing holding on returns before the guy even catches the ball!
