Dareus traded to Jacksonville!

I prefer a real rebuild to trying to make it work with the wrong players. Isn’t that what Rex did? -
Dareus traded to Jacksonville!

Impossible to cut. And he’s owed 10 million next year because his 2018 salary is guaranteed. Plus a roster bonus. He’ll be a free agent in 2019 -
They have the worst run game in the NFL. Sorry - 2nd worst. Could they beat us on any given sunday? Of course they can. But playoffs are gonna be tough... They struggle to move the ball and they're playing like 2 bad defenses the rest of the way in NE and OAK. NE and OAK can both put points up, and OAK is staying on the east coast to adjust to the time zone. I see 6-10, 7-9... Raiders Panthers Bucs Patriots Broncos Patriots BillS Chiefs Bills

This offseason Quarterback options
Bleeding Bills Blue replied to The Now Moment's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Available QBs-- Cousins (probably too expensive) Brees (probably re-signs) Bradford (probably overpaid) Probably available -- Tyrod Glennon Hoyer Mccown I would personally take the Eagles approach to this... They signed Bradford and daniels... then still got the QB they wanted in Wentz... then got a pretty decent return for bradford. So for me it's keep Tyrod - just so as not to show your cards at the draft. It's very possible that a couple of teams picking near the top will have QBs be it cousins or the colts with luck - and we have a lot of ammo to move up and grab our guy if we want to. -
Hightower out for season

To be fair - he got like 20 yards on an outside zone run against tampa... -
His 2018 base salary is already guaranteed, but if we trade him we don't have to pay it. We'd be on the hook for his salary this season through this week. 15 million in signing bonus money. And an other 5.6 million in option bonus money. so about 20.6 + we'll say 4.5 million of 2017 base salary. You can split it over this year and next, but the dead hit for this season would put us right up on the cap, and would then add another ton of dead money into 2018. So rather than carry over 10 million to make our cap higher - our cap would be standard, and we'd have a 10 million dead money hit on it. If we trade him in the offseason next year we'd be on the hook for the remaining 10 million in signing bonus, and 4.2 in option bonus money. I'm not sure how splitting cap hits works when you trade a player though. Cutting him next year would be difficult, as most of his 2018 base salary is guaranteed. He's a pure rental, who has no history with the coaches or players on the team.

I will say this - we do need to add some weapons in the passing game. Look at the Wentz and Goff jumps from year 1 to year 2... is it a coincidence? Or is it Jeffery, Smith, Woods, Watkins, Kupp... It also depends who's available at QB in free agency... if there aren't any other options you almost have to bring him back. Hoyer and Glennon are sure to be available. It sounds like Cousins will be available for a massive deal. Jimmy Garrappolo is a wildcard. Brees is a free agent, but he'll likely re-sign. Bradford seems likely to be available. Case keenum... Not exactly Joe Montana, and none are guaranteed to sign with us. The draft is like a month after free agency, and you don't want to go into the draft without a QB. Especially since we probably don't pick in the top 10.

On some of the deeper ones last game they were basically overthrows or out of bounds. -

Probably the defense for giving up like 500 yards -
Penalties and actual yardage

It feels like every big run we have - mccoy off tackle, tyrod scrambling for a first on that 3rd and 10 i think, all get called back on holds. Some are real, some were a bit more questionable. Hopefully this heads back towards average as the season wears on. -
Interesting read: https://www.buffalorumblings.com/2017/10/19/16496144/penalties-2017-buffalo-bills-run-game-lesean-mccoy-mike-tolbert-patrick-dimarco-tyrod-mcdermott To paraphrase: our penalties are absolutely killing the running game so far this year much more than last year. The timing of them has been pretty bad as well, seems like they're always taking first downs off the board and putting us in bad situations offensively.

He also played hurt... What about Miami last year? I know we inevitably lost... but 330 yards passing 60 more on the ground with 3 TDs. Down 28-14 at one point in the 3rd quarter, and down 28-24 with 4 minutes left in the game and the ball on the 11. Drove down and scored a TD. Then in OT drove down for a FG, which carpenter missed (dubious playcall with that terrible reggie bush play). Then MORE dubious playcalling when we punted on 4th and 2 from the dolphins 40 with like 4 minutes left in overtime. We had 600 yards of offense and you can't trust them to get 2? I'm not going to dig into our playoff odds there at that moment, but it was pretty much punting away the season. Either way - that looks a lot like a 4th quarter comeback. -
Why are MNF ratings low this season?

Cord cutting. I don't have ESPN in my Fios package. I don't know that I would watch it anyway after a day of football though. -
Watkins has been doing nothing, and gilmore didn't play this week. Gilmore will be in NE next year - Watkins likely will not be in LA. They have a franchise tag, but at this point i don't think they'd use it. He's on pace for 40 catches for less than 600 yards and 5 TDs. He'll make more money on the open market so I don't think he'd sign a mid-season extension. Jeffery and Pryor are the only other big names hitting free agency, so he's likely to get overpaid. I'm sure there will be some cuts/surprises, but everyone wants WRs and he's in that upper tier with regards to free agents. For LA Donald will hold out again if they don't give him dareus money, and their best DB is a free agent. With woods, Kupp, austin, cooper already under contract - it might not make the most use of their abundance of cap space to tag a WR.
