  1. Just like buying cars, if you allow yourself to "fall in love" with a particular one, it clouds your mind and you have a good chance of getting burned. There is no real sure thing 1st round QB talent in the draft, don't fool yourself and convince yourself there is. The talent is all 2nd round at best this year. Rank your QB's and pick the best available in the 2nd round, someone will be there. As Astro listed, a lot of talent in the mid 1st. If you get a chance to trade down with someone in that range, for their 1st and a 2nd, then do it, Pick the BPA for your other positions of need, where there actually is legitimate 1st round talent available. Pick another developmental QB in the later rounds as well.
  2. "T -average Glenn has a chance to be one of the best in the league, the other side is a revolving door of Hairston, Pears, Young = dime a dozen" I agree. Why are so many blind to the fact that we are only 1 RT away from having a quality OL. Our needs include another T, whether it be a RT or a LT and shifting Glen to RT. The question of shifting would be up to the coaches, they need to use the talent we have to create the best line they can. I'm not recommending shifting him, just saying that if the coaches think if it needs to be done, I accept it.
  3. Well, after his performance at the game, Minter, Mingo, or Ogletree might be just as good choices if he isn't there later.
  4. It is really irritating that people make comments because they don't have the ability to read or comprehend what is written. I said "If he drops in the draft as a result of this performance, then it is even more incentive to trade down in the first for a later 1st and an extra 2nd round pick if there are any offers" I never implied it was automatic, I qualified it with the statement " if ". And even though there may not be an abundance of top talent in this draft, there may always be a player rated #1 in a specific position on any teams ratings for their particular position of need, who unexpectedly drops in the draft enough that the team may be willing to trade up to get them using our pick. Especially if they feel he will be gone by their pick. Yes, even the Bills traded up last year because they felt they just HAD to get TJ in the 3rd and couldn't afford to wait a half dozen picks and chance not getting him. Trades do happen regularly in the NFL "Of the 221 picks in the 2012 NFL Draft that could be traded (compensatory picks cannot be dealt), 101 (45.7 percent) changed hands at least once, including picks traded before the first round started" NFL.com. Almost 50 % of the picks were the result of trades. The question might be how many trades were actually proposed, negotiated and then not agreed upon? Sounds like it would not extremely implausible to say there might be a 3 out of 4 chance that a trade could be offered for any given pick in the NFL.
  5. If he drops in the draft as a result of this performance, then it is even more incentive to trade down in the first for a later 1st and an extra 2nd round pick if there are any offers. While he may not be the superstud we all thought, I still think he will develop into a solid, reliable player for years to come and be a real value as a later round one pick. http://sports.yahoo....338--ncaaf.html
  6. I'm okay as long he is signed as a FA to warm the seat for a year or so till we finally draft a franchise QB. But not in a trade. No more trading for a QB who was going to be released anyway, like TJ.
  7. I like the Lovie idea. Maybe he could take the DL talent we have on paper and make it actally perform like it did on paper on the field. And he likes the run.We have the talent for the run. Our OL is about 1 RT away from being a dominate OL if we keep our FA. We are a QB and two LB.s away from a playoff team. The only disclaimer is he needs to find a hungry young up and coming OC to deal with the offense and limit himself to the defense, he is too conservative and slow on offense. He has to keep away from micro managing the offense and let the OC run things within reason.
  8. I would not be opposed that if we were to trade down and Matthews was available, to put him in at RT. Then we could really solidify our OL(assuming we resign our own FA). Keep Glenn where he is and let our strength at RB really become the focus of our offense. Our OL weakness is on the right side and this could fortify it and make it top 5. Hate to say this (one time only today) Go Jets!! Ouch, LOL.
  9. The difference between the 1st and 2nd player ranked at any position this year does not automatically mean the difference between stud and mediocre. Not sure of the statistics, but I think there have been a lot of busts at the number 1 position, and a lot of studs that were selected at #2 for their position
  10. I too would be very happy with the draft you just mentioned I did not mention specific players by my preference . I listed the players based on their current rankings, assuming that if we traded down, we would most likely be out of the running for the #1 players at any position. I meant gaining the extra picks and using them for the bpa at the position of need in round 1 and the best two QBs available in round two. Of course the names may change but the strategy would not.
  11. Okay, Our chances of Smith being available at our draft position are slim and none. We should have a valuable draft position to trade if we lose to the Jets. We need a QB, WR and LB. One option is to go for Te’o in the first. Then draft a QB in both the 2nd and the 3rd. The other option is to attempt to trade back in the first, if we find a willing partner who would give up their 1st and a 2nd. Depending on the pick in the 1st, we could get a LB like Minter, Ogletree, or with some luck even Mingo. Or a WR like Allen or Williams. Then with our two 2nd rounds we could get 2 of the best available of the QBs like Wilson, Glennon, Murray, Nassib or Bray. Let them compete to see who rises to the top. We would then have picks 3,4,5 and 6 available to fill in more at LB, WR, or even TE positions, as well as some gamble at OL.
  12. I think Geno is a nice "sports wet dream" for Bill's fans, but not worth trading the farm for. If he fell to us, I would take him in an instant. But we have way too many needs to fill to trade away our present and our near future for with an RG3 type trade. Geno has potential, but not RG3 quality potential.. Considering the quantity (not necessarily the quality) of QBs in this draft after Smith, I still think we should fill our needs in the first with BPA at LB or WR in the first if Geno is not available on our turn. Then draft a 2nd level QB in both the 2nd and 3rd and hope for the best. Later, possibly even trading back into the later 1st with our 2nd and whatever reasonable other compensation is required, if our front office feels a QB is there and won't still be there with our 2nd, and is worth the cost.
  13. Sad, but probably true. Gotta wonder about the QB's all having so much "trouble grasping" the playbook. Wonder if it is really that difficult, or if it is just that convoluted and unintelligible.
  14. Te'o in the 1st. Best available QB in both the 2nd and 3rd rounds.
  15. As far as I have seen, the only QB possibly worth a low first round pick is Smith. For our low probable draft position in the first, I would not even pick any of them except Smith with it, much less trade up for them. After our first pick, I do see possibly trading back into the latter first round for one of them. I would take Teo in the first, pick the best available QB's in both the 2nd and the third.
  16. I still believe that we should draft Te'o with the first if we can't get Geno (not likely). And we should draft the best available QB in both round 2 and 3. (or trading back into the end of 1st for one of them if we felt was worth it.) That would give us better odds of getting a serviceable QB until we can draft a true franchise QB.
  17. +1 When this team organization hits the bottom, they will start digging
  18. Okay I admit it, I loved the Dareus pick at the time. It was either Miller or Dareus, and Miller was gone. I would have done the same pick at the time.
  19. I'd love to pay poker with most of the posters on this thread. They would look at their hand, see they were two cards away from a winning hand of a straight and then stand pat with that losing hand. I'd do a lot of winning beating all those loosing hands they stood pat on. Go ahead thinking you can't give away any of those cards in that loosing hand, most of them are good cards. It's still a LOOSING hand fools! We have a losing hand as a team. Unless we draw some cards, we will continue to have a loosing hand. As WR we have Stevie, Graham is an unknown. The rest are sub par. We need another WR. Get a QB (or two) and LB in the draft. WR in FA.
  20. Exactly, that's why Gailey gets the big bucks and I watch in the stands or on TV. Except Gailey is getting the bucks and not earning them by being a coach capable of adjusting his alignments with the right personnel on the field to solve their individual weaknesses.
  21. Cutting Pears and Kelsay could give us money, but not sure on McGee and Merriman. I think McGee still has the talent, skill, desire and heart, but even he now realizes that he has sacrificed too much of his body for it to be effective enough anymore, there is just not enough left there to play with. So he will not resign. When Merriman rejoined the Bills after being released, does anyone know what he signed for? I don't believe it was for big bucks. If he is a bargain, why not resign him. If Fitz returns he needs to restructure to back up QB dollars, or not come back. We should have the money to resign Levitre and Byrd. Get talent on the right side of the O line and a WR in FA. Draft LB high in the draft (Te'o) and a QB or two. Dump the other useless backup QB salaries.
  22. Patience! Patience! Nix! Chan! Wanny! No, it is insanity to keep having patience for 12 years in a row with the same results. :wallbash: "Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results." - Albert Einstein
