  1. No, I would be absolutely fine with Barkley along with the round 2 choices, I just don't see any remote possibility of him lasting that long.
  2. I’m not saying they will be there, but these are the QBs and the rounds I’d be comfortable with the Bills drafting them in if they were available. I’m assuming there are no trades up or down, so we are drafting at our assigned positions. If we traded down with our 1st for a late first and an extra 1st or 2nd , I would be comfortable with taking one of the round 2 QBs with a late 1st. What would be your Round / QB comfort list? Round 1 Smith Round 2 Wilson, Manuel Round 3,4 Dysert, Scott, Brey, Nassib
  3. Chan, is that you? Still determined that Fitz is in his prime, full of potential and with a huge upside just waiting to bloom. A starter for years to come......
  4. Not if you need more than one!
  5. I could not disagree more. I think we need to trade down to get more picks to fill our overwhelming major holes. No QB this year is really worth a round one pick. They may be picked in the first round by foolish, desperate teams (like the Bills), but none is worth the gamble of having enough value in the 1st round based on their true worth. As far as trading Byrd, we might ultimately end up having to do that , but only as a last resort if it appears there is no way to sign him long term. Yes, Kyle unfortunately appears to be at the wrong end of his game and is heading into decline, so for the right player or pick I would trade him before he loses value, but only if that pick or player was a solution to a hole, while not creating yet another hole we don't have a competent player to fill.
  6. Sounds like exactly what I was hoping for in FA. Solid, not splashy, reasonably priced. Does not mortgage our future a year or two down the road when we can seriously challenge as a real player in the NFL scene. Two or three more like this and I will be happier. That is the way to build a winning team.
  7. The pie (the cap) is only so big, what ever way you choose to cut it. While Lev was a decent player, let some other team overpay him and mess up their pie. Use the piece of the pie that Lev wanted to get two decent players instead of just Lev. Buffalo will be a better team because of it. No bad feelings toward Lev, good luck to him for getting his overinflated payday. Enjoy!
  8. To me if Smith is not there this would be slam dunk choice. It would be a coin flip if he was there. We just have so many holes to fill and the QB talent worthy of a first round so questionable, this would give us 3 total picks in the low 2nd and first round. The talent at that level is a great value this year. The talent between the top 5 and the mid 2nd has so little difference, we could conceivably still get 3 quality starters, or two quality starters and a shot at a possible starting QB. Although I think Smith can be a passable starting QB, but I don't see much hope of him being a Franchise QB. The rest of the QBs are all long shots as Franchise QBs as well. I'd love this trade or one with SF's two picks and another high rounder.
  9. Love the trade idea with the 49ers. The numbers definitely work, just not sure the 49ers would go for it. Not liking the reality of the rest, but would love the draft pick trade!
  10. Yes i think Patterson is a step up from the others as far as how much of a gamble he is to be an impact player. We need more than 1 player at WR, and we are lucky this year with the depth available. Hopefully we can get our impact WR early and another role player WR later
  11. I can't fault the OP's picks, except I would substitute Patterson for Barkley. I don't think Barkley will ever be a Franchise QB, maybe an average QB, just good enough to keep the FO complacent and never strive to get an actual Franchise QB. One that will take the Bill's beyond just competitive, and onto that higher level needed to get to the Super Bowl. I know having a competitive team would be an exciting and positive change, one we have not had in many, many years. But I have got to believe that it can go ... all ... the ... way!
  12. Thanks for the links. So if that is true I hope he either renegotiates to a cut in his contract, or is let go now. Then next year we will be free of his cap hit completely and will have the room to build a real team around that Franchise QB we draft next year!
  13. I feel your pain. It is frustrating knowing that we so desperately need a QB, but there are none available in the draft that you can even dream of drafting for your Franchise QB. Even if we happen to get the best QB available (Geno), he still is deeply flawed and is barely a 50/50 chance of being a decent starting QB. Yes there may a gem QB hidden somewhere in the coal bin of this year's draft pile. But it will be a minor miracle if there is one hidden somewhere in there.. And we are one of 30+ teams that will consider even drafting that hidden gem, so our odds lessen even more. I always had a problem with blind faith. When I was a teenager I remember the minister telling me I just had to have faith. Well a lifetime later I'm still waiting for proof that there is something to make that faith believable. As with the Bill's, I still keep looking for a sign, but they have not given me any glimmer since the Kelly days. So far this year all I have seen is shedding players. And in coaching, a decent D coach selection. Last year I was excited by Mario being signed. Even that didn't exactly turn out rosy. I want hope, but unlike so many out there that have set the bar so low, I see little to cheer about this coming year. I see a team with a star RB, a decent 2nd WR. We had a decent C to LT side of the OL, with a mediocre right side. Now we will probably lose Lev. We have a good S,, but only for this year, then what? An under-performing D Line with apparent talent that has not performed up to expectations. I don't see the glass as half full, not even a quarter full. I'm hoping for a decent push on FA signings this year. A decent WR and LB. Some reliable signings at S,TE, WR,CB. I'm hoping for some luck at the draft. But the past history of this organization and their horrible record make it hard to have much hope that things have changed. Basically the same people are still evaluating talent and making decisions as before. Same scouts, same GM, same FO. Not sure how much influence Marrone will have, or if his input will even be positive. He is totally unproven and unknown either good or bad at this point.
  14. Now I'm really confused. I guess I'm not the only one confused, since I am getting contradictory info. Has he already received the 10 million in guaranteed money and is what I see in contract sites strictly cap related accounting figures ? Is any more of his money in the future guaranteed? I have gotten different contradictory answers. Does anyone have any links? Help!!
  15. My question is "What is his motivation to take less money from Buffalo to stay?" If Buffalo released him tomorrow how much total money will he actually get from the Bills upon his release? And then he would then be free to take that money and sign a Tjac sized deal as a backup QB elsewhere. Other than his ego thinking he might actually be the starter all season in Buffalo this year, is there any financial motivation for him to renegotiate for less money to stay? I searched this site for the amount remaining on his guaranteed money and didn't get a result that way. I'm not talking about this from the team's perspective like cap or dead money, but from his perspective. Can anyone explain how much he actually gets in total if he is released?
  16. TIER 3 FA : Solid starters – http://www.nfl.com/n...-best-available 19) Anthony Spencer, LB/DE, Dallas Cowboys: He's more of a run stopper than an edge rusher. But league-average starting ends get huge dollars. 20) Paul Kruger, OLB/DE, Baltimore Ravens: Be leery of paying a Dexter Jackson-like Super Bowl-run tax to Kruger. (Especially when he mostly sat in the Super Bowl in favor of Courtney Upshaw for run-defense reasons.) 26) Dannell Ellerbe, LB, Baltimore Ravens: The Ray Lewis-sized hole at the core of Baltimore's defense makes the versatile Ellerbe a priority to re-sign. He can rush, cover and stop the run. The Bills could release Brad Smith, and assuming you fill the LB hole with a solid LB, your other expensive FA need is wide WR, spending about 10 million combimed on LB and WR, that leaves you 5 million cap room to fill other glaring holes with role players before the draft. 30) Brian Hartline, WR, Miami Dolphins: No, every white receiver should not be compared to Wes Welker. Hartline is more of a physical downfield threat who fits as a solid No. 2 receiver. 32) Danny Amendola, WR, St. Louis Rams: OK, here's a receiver who should be compared to Welker. This former Hard Knocks hero in Dallas is a great slot man who can't shake the injury bug.
  17. Even if Fitz does not man up and do the right thing to renegotiate at a lower salary we still can get rid of Brad Smith at $2,750,000 more cap room, giving us $15 mill for free agents. Does anyone really think he has provided almost 3 million of value at WR? Hopefully the new offense will toss out the wildcat as a regular option. It's time has long gone as anything but a rare gimmick play, so his value must be judged strictly as a below average WR. I'd rather either get some decent talent at WR or someone younger and cheaper with a possible bigger upside. I wonder what type of FA talent we could get for 5 million for a WR? Another 5 million for a FA LB and 5 million for some role playing FAs to fill our holes enough to use the draft to bring in the right new blood.
  18. No way. Next year is the year Buffalo needs to get their Franchise QB. There actually will be quality talent available in that draft, not a group of long shots, mediocre and backup quality QB talent available in this year's draft. We need more picks to trade our way up to that QB next year, not less valuable picks next year.
  19. No more Fitz! I'd rather watch TJac just feed the ball to our RBs 90% of the time and make a few throws to keep the D honest than see Fitz in there anymore. The result in the end would be the same as last year anyway, a top 10 pick in next years draft. I just can't take the image of Fitz loosing anymore games for Buffalo. At least TJac loosing them will be different. Or grab a couple of latter round pick QBs and enjoy them trying to battle it out to be the backup QB next year when we get our real Franchise QB. At least the drama of them battling it out might be more exciting than watching Fitz blow yet another season.
  20. Looking at the latest mocks, I'm not sure how I feel about us drafting Geno if he drops to us at 8. I think after the combine, that he is still the best. But still not sure it is best for the Bills to take him in the first. If we do that, and he does not appear to be the answer, we will stick with him and we will not even consider getting a true franchise QB next year because we invested a 1st round top 10 pick this year on him and we will be afraid to admit we blew it selecting him. Investing a later round in a QB does not represent such a stigma to the FO if the pick does not work out. I see any QB draft selection this year as a huge question mark. Next year is shaping up to be a much better year to get a franchisee QB.
  21. If Bray is still there in the 3rd I would take a gamble on him there, no sooner. That is the round I would select my QB. Next year is the year to do what it takes to get the franchise QB, the talent is actually there. No QB in the first. If Smith or Barkley were there in the 2nd I would take one of them, but that would be an absolute miracle. BPA in round 1 or trade back in the 1st for another 2nd round pick. WR or LB in 2nd, if not chosen in the 1st. The 2nd round talent this year is almost as good as most of the 1st round talent outside the top 5.
