  1. Well, at least they traded down and got a great extra 2nd round pick. Now that the Bills disappointed me and reached in the first for 2nd round talent, how could they make me happier in the rest of the draft? Round 2 ,1 Minter or Ertz # 41 Round 2 ,2 Big WR with great hands with # 46 Round 3 BPA from LB or TE, if not selected in 2nd Round 4 Mathieu if still available in 4th, or OLine Round 5,6 BPA at position of need Round 7 Who cares, really not that much different than UDFAs
  2. thanks for saving me from doing the math!
  3. Exactly. I would have traded with SF, (who was ready to trade up at that point and did so right after Buffalo picked) picked up another draft pick, or taken Eifert and one of the available QBs in the 2nd round. The QBs are all so similar a gamble that you can throw their names in a bag and pick one in the 2nd round. One would be there. But the Bills panicked and reached. One of the few real reaches in the 1st round by anyone. The rest of the league drafted by BPA based on need. Buffalo just showed why they are the laughing stock of the league. Check out the ratings on the NFL draft tracker for the quality of the picks. See that the ratings that are generally good till you get to the Bills at 16 :wallbash:
  4. I don't think the Bills are smart enough to do that but I would be a very happy camper if that was how our draft played out. Filling all our greatest needs and still have picks 3-6 to fill the rest of the holes on our team.
  5. Sorry I did not see the 362398329827827 threads that were made today quoting Nix's statements on today's radio interview.
  6. "Nix said he believes the Bills are "close everywhere else" except for the quarterback position". Since the Bills have not added any significant talent, and in fact lost talent since last season, this is proof that Nix is not living in the real world. Last season was a disaster of epic proportions for a Bills team and he says the team is close everywhere else except quarterback. Wonder what type of drugs he is doing? Scary thought as he steps up to the podium in a few hours.
  7. Picking a QB this year is like buying $20 worth of lottery tickets every week hoping to score the million dollar winner when your kids are going hungry and have holes in their shoes. I would rather take that $20 and feed my kids and get them new shoes than gamble on the fantasy of the big win. The Bills are a team that has kids going hungry and that have holes in their shoes. Fix the team now instead of gambling away the future on the fantasy.
  8. My point to those that are desperate to get a QB with a first is that they need to understand the difference between desperation and inspiration. Acts of desperation often end up making a bad situation worse. Acts of inspiration can find solutions to bad situations. Selecting a flawed QB in round one when all the available QBs are considered flawed is pure desperation, not inspiration.
  9. I have a sense of dread today. I feel the Bills are going to reach in desperation for a QB in round 1. I wish they would trade down if possible and get extra round 1 or 2 picks. Our holes are so numerous and there is so much talent at other positions of need in the 1st two rounds. Please make this team better. Kolb can take us to next year where our newly built team can grab a QB next year when there will actually be round 1 talent available. Give me a big WR (not Austin) in the first two rounds and a quality LB. A TE would be nice. Grab a developmental QB after the first two rounds if you want to gamble, since all of them are mega gambles to become a real franchise QB. All have major flaws and are projects. Be conservative and build the rest of the team of the future this year and get it done. No more gambles, no reaches, and take the closest to a sure pick on every early pick. Give me hope and don't waste yet another year rebuilding next year. BPA at positions of need at WR,TE,LB and OL in the early rounds. I don't expect the playoffs this year. I just want to see a team that is competitive every game and makes it enjoyable to root for the Bills without having to wear rose colored fan blinders. No more teams that are an outright embarrassment like the team has been for the past decade. Give me a real Franchise QB next year when one is really available in round 1 to go with the rest of the winning team built for him this year.
  10. If the Bill's actually 'covet" any QB with the #8 pick in the draft, they are even stupider and more incompetent than I already believe them to be. No QB is worth the risk of a 1st round pick this year, and taking one below a mid to high round first is a horrible reach and a foolish gamble at #8.
  11. I just do not have any belief that any one of the QBs this year is a decent bet to be a Franchise QB. One may be a surprise everyone and become one, maybe not. Yes, 2 or 3 have a chance to become starting NFL QBs. But for how long? As much as I liked Andy Dalton, I still don't see him as a Franchise QB. Decent QB, but not a Franchise QB. I see the QBs this year as at his level and nothing more. Next year seems loaded with 3 or 4 QB's who have will be a decent bet to possibly be a Franchise QB. Which one, I don't know. But this year I don't see any good bets, just long shots. I want quality players for this year and in the future that are good bets to be quality players for the next 5-10 years. I am against taking any QB at 8. Wait till next year when the gamble is less. I really don't see any as that much better than Kolb. And I don't claim he is anything but an acceptable starting QB, definitely not a Franchise QB. If your first choice is gone if you trade down, just pick the next one on your list. None are any thing close to a sure a bet. As the saying goes, six of one, half a dozen of the other. But no reaches or long shots with high picks, only bets with good odds . Save the reaches and big gambles for the later rounds.
  12. Oh yes, past history has shown just how well the current scouting staff and GM have picked the past few years. Why would there be reason to not trust them to make the right decisions?
  13. Having the 2nd highest pick in the last 25 years in a draft that has no legitimate 1st round talent is meaningless. Barkley may be a starting quality QB, but the Bills need a Franchise QB, not just a starting QB. If they take a QB in the 1st this year, it is doubtful they will also take one next year, when many believe there may be 3 or 4 legitimate possible Franchise QBs in the 1st round. Beyond our #1 WR, we have almost nothing at that position. A QB can not win if he has no legitimate targets to throw to. Our needs at WR, TE and LB are just as great as our needs at QB. And this year there is real talent at WR, possibly all the way into the 3rd round. Good late 1st to 2nd round TE talent, and good 1st and 2nd round LB talent. This is the year to get our WR and LB holes filled. QB next year.
  14. I agree with many of the posters here. Lattimore would be a great pick in the 5th or 6th. He is a big gamble, but the payoff could be huge. Given a year to heal and work himself back in the game and next year to get up to speed, he would be a perfect replacement for Jackson, since the timing would be perfect for Jackson's retirement. We can dream!
  15. Nix, please just say NO! to Nassib.
  16. Like your first three round picks, but they don't match up to who the Bills have brought in for visits. I would be very happy with your first three round picks though. Improvements right were we need them.
  17. I agree with this, I would be happy to see us fill our WR options in the 2nd and our QB options in the 3rd or 4th. I don't think the talent level in WR is that much greater than the WRs that will be selected before those WRs. And few QBs seem worth the gamble before a 3rd. Next year is the year to gamble on a QB early.
  18. The trade would be fine with me if that is all we have to choose from. But would rather get another 2nd. The best values in the draft are 2nd round picks. After the first half dozen picks, the next 40 or so are all excellent value 2nd round picks. I have no problem with Bray in the 3rd or 4th, but no way is he worth a 2nd rd pick. He is not a starter this year, and being picked in the 2nd might stop the Bills from going for a real Franchise QB in the 1st next year. Not sure Patterson is even the best receiver. Rather go with a different WR with my 2nd round pick, the talent drop off is not that great.
  19. I think you are right about Johnson, but Cooper could definitely be there outside of the top 15, in fact if Cooper is not taken in the top 15, he could easily fall to late 1st. I left Johnson in in case we ended up with a trade partner that was mid first round. It all depends on the QB picks in round 1. If as some still think, 3 are picked in the top 15, a lot of talent will drop to the mid to late 1st. While I would rather trade to the late first and pick up another 2nd, 3rd round pick, any trade down that gives us more picks in the lst two rounds would be hard to pass on if it was close to trade value. If it was a mid 1st Johnson could be there if there is a run on QBs.
  20. Using Astro’s assumption that the Bill’s will draft from among their 30 visits, I think I will be very disappointed in the draft this year. I know we can’t always get what we want, but this would be an ideal draft for me. Trade back to a late 1st round pick and get 3 picks in the first two rounds. Using those three picks we grab from among this group. WR - Hunter, DeAndre Hopkins LB – Minter, Te’o . Only if they are very confident they have a Franchise QB from among them, not just a starting QB – Manuel, Barkley, Wilson If no QB in the first two rounds, then OT - Lane Johnson, Jonathan Cooper If a position was not filled in an earlier round In the 3rd: From among TE - Vance McDonald LB - Kevin Reddick, Khaseem Greene WR - Da’Rick Rodgers QB – Scott, Nassib, Bray The remaining rounds would be BPA at position of need. I am not mentioning any players I think have little chance of being available after the mid late first round. I am not omitting them because I wouldn’t like them.
  21. Really, Recent Super Bowl winning MVPs Eli Manning (2 times) and Drew Brees might disagree with that statement.
  22. Assuming we went with Patterson for our WR needs at our #8. In his mock we got Austin, ranked #2, but even preferred by some over the #1 ranked WR, plus we got the #1 ranked ILB in the draft. I would say the chances of us getting two players ranked so high would give us 2 impact players and would be better than getting only 1 impact player. The two players are both what I would consider very good player potential. We have so many holes to fill to get better, and two holes filled with very good players is better than only one hole filled with a single very good player.
  23. Thanks Astro . The 2nd trade does not work out at all. All the trades from Minni you mention just add up to a trade value = to our #8, why would we give them our #41 and lose 500 points in trade value. That makes zero sense. It would make sense if it was just our #8 for their 23,52,.83 & 102. That would give us 23,41,52,71,83,102,105,143,177. How would that work plugged into the simulator?
  24. I would love to see the team trade back in the first and pick one of the LBs you list. With the extra late first or 2nd round I'd like to see them grab Woods or (Hunter) or Swope. I'd prefer a TE but they have not had one visit that would go that high. In the 3rd one of the QBs you list(No specific reason but I just have this very positive feeling about Scott). In the 4th BPA to fit needs. If we don't get a guard in FA we will need one in the draft. A WR or TE in the 5th you list.
