I have two sons in college and wanted to take advantage of the student discount. My son said the offer expired 7-30-24. Anyone know if that's accurate or did anyone do this last year?

RT's are becoming more important but in the era when you could blow a QB up the blind side was far and away the more important tackle. Now that they are protected, the gap isn't as big.

I wasn't arguing for or against Hollins and I think it's reasonable to say he'd be a "surprise cut". Bringing up Allen and Oliver as counter arguments against the OP is foolish, Jack.

What's foolish is to argue Hollins is as secure as Allen and Oliver. Not only from a playing standpoint but also contractually. Your view is more extreme than the OP, yet you think that's acceptable.

I thought we agreed that's more ridiculous than saying Hollins but then you did it again. I get it. You can't think of someone that most believe will make the team, yet will be a surprise cut without being snarky.

I'm not saying I think he will or want Hollins to get cut but I think the spirit of the thread is "surprise cuts". Based on even what you said, it would be a surprise.

I think maybe we were talking past each other. I don't think Solomon is getting cut, I think he'll be a practice squad player. I now know that's what you mean by making the roster. I consider making the roster, the 53. I consider making the team, includes PS players.

You know the numbers better than me because I haven't researched. However, 75% of 5th rounders making the 53 man roster seems real high. I'm not saying Solomon won't realize some true potential. I'm just thinking a vet like Toohill, that appears to have been blocked from playing time by some really good DE's in front of him, is going to have to beat out. I'm just not sure a 5th round pick is going to do that. I certainly wouldn't hate it, because if he's good enough to make the game day line up, I love it.

Toohill is making the team, IMO, with little issue. Smoot, if he returns to form will too. The 5th round rookie needs to beat them out or he's going to the PS, and I don't see him beating them out. To me Toohill seems like a McDermott type of player. High effort, non stop motor.

People aren't mentioning him but I think Toohill is going to play.

Both of my sons play baseball in the Charlotte NC area, one in college. We've had a lot of great memories and we're still adding some. I love watching them compete. In 2016 I bought NY Yankees tickets early in the season as we planned a trip from Charlotte. The team sucked and as our game approached, Cashman began trading any players you'd even be interested in watching. We couldn't believe that was the year we picked for a family trip. As it turns out a prospect named Aaron Judge was called up and played in our game. He hit his first home run as a Yankee and we were there.

There's nothing wrong with feeling good about Shakir. There's also reason to believe there's others on the roster who can and will ball out.

I really don't think we'd be laughing at the Pats if they signed someone like Claypool during the Brady years. We'd be saying, damn if Brady can make this dude stay straight, that's a lot of talent there.

If Claypool doesn't make the team, we're in bigger trouble than if Shakir isn't the "top WR". Believing if Shakir isn't the top dog, we're done for, is totally ridiculous. There's just too many possibilities for that to be true. You clearly know very very little about Samuel.

I completely disagree with you and 89. Shakir is a nice piece but there's other reasons to think we'll be productive if he doesn't produce. You're totally undervaluing Samuel, IMO. Claypool is the most physically talented WR on the roster. Keon has as legitimate shot at being productive. Shakir or we'll get no production, seems extremely dismissive of legit NFL talent on the roster and reasonable expectations for Keon.

Yeah it's time to really wonder if it's an indictment on Samuel who's entering his 8th year.

There's been a lot of good posts. Staying healthy is something that keeps ringing so true to me. We were really in a bad spot by the time the KC game came. I'm just not ready to say the D line concerns me yet. I think there's a lot to like. Bringing back Jones was important. I think Carter will contribute. We all really like Oliver. Epenesa was a smart return. I'm extremely intrigued by Toohill. There's also a real possibility Von plays good. Groot has to be motivated to show out. I'm excited to see what Solomon has. I believe there's a legit chance we can be good.
