  1. Judging from what Nix and the scouts said about him, and where he was drafted, they definitely want Glenn to earn the LT job. I like Hairston, and think he could do ok for us, but Glenn I think has a better chance to be elite. Glenn would have to earn it, but either way I think the Bills have to feel ok about their LT position. Sanders gives them good depth as well.
  2. The philosophy and coaching effectiveness of Edwards. It seemed to me that, specifically in the secondary, players were often out of position or didn't know what their position was. I believe we have talent in the secondary, which was wasted by bad play calling and coaching overall. That was made worse by having no pass rush. On several of the big plays Florence allowed last year he seemed to be expecting help over the top which wasn't there (He was also visibly upset at other players at times). Maybe some of that was Florence not understanding the play, but it didn't look like it. Regardless, it's the DC's responsibility to ensure the players know their jobs. I got the feeling last year that Edwards didn't even know what their jobs were... I'm looking forward to seeing what an experienced, effective, DC can do this year...
  3. It's a good signing for the Broncos. I liked Drayton as a Bill, and I think his struggles last year were the result of poor coaching and no pass rush. He will get plenty of pass rush and good defensive coaching with the Broncos... They probably want him to play the nickle, where I hoped he would play for the Bills. He took a big pay cut to sign for that role with the Broncos though. I also continue to like how Elway is managing his team...Maybe he could teach Jordan and Gretzky a thing or two...
  4. I was thinking that as well, I was expecting the vast majority of people here to live in or around the Buffalo area. I guess in Buffalo there are plenty of people to talk to about the Bills... But us outsiders need to come here for our football fix. Just my theory.
  5. Albany, born and raised. Close enough to go to the games, but man that trip sucks...
  6. Spearing and hits to the head are always penalties... Unfortunately if a WR is hit hard (even shoulder to shoulder) while in the air or going for a catch, the "defenseless receiver" rule is called, I think that is what he is pointing out. Basically you either have to let the receiver catch the ball or take a penalty.
  7. Forget about the officiating, this kid is strong. Watch the slow replay, the opposing player bounces off of him and crumples up...He didn't so much as lean from that hit, just stood there like he batted down a fly. A lot of those big hits can be rough on both players, but for him it was like the other player wasn't even there... Put one of those on Brady please...
  8. Nix continues to do every thing he says he's going to do. Not only is he doing what's best for the team now, but he is building confidence and a good reputation for the Bills FO ( never thought that was possible...). This isn't a tangible thing, but I believe signing Williams, getting contract extensions done for all of your best players, and living up to your word, will go along way towards keeping good players and attracting new FA's... Unlike the last 10+ years, it certainly seems like the FO is actually trying to win, not just survive... I think a lot of the Bills players are truly happy to be on this team right now, I can't remember a similar feeling since the mid 90's...
  9. Too late, a patriot I believe...
  10. You just made me vomit uncontrollably... We could pick him up, sign TO and then trade SJ for Randy Moss as well, what would the nickname for our 3WR set be?
  11. I'd take Dixon over Young...You know what you are getting in young, an athletic head case who almost certainly can't handle starting in the NFL . Dixon showed some potential in limited time, obviously he is more of an unknown. Hopefully Corp surprises in training camp, although that's wishful thinking... Personally I have always thought that the NFL "backup" QB is a futile position...For most teams, if your starter goes down you are screwed. What you really want out of a "backup" is a guy that can challenge for the starting job in the future, if your starter craps out or gets old (like Brady, and Rogers did). Of the guy's on that list I'm not sure any fit that role. I'm sure someone will bring up Reich getting the Bills to the SB, among others. Sure, backups will win on occasion, but it's hard enough to win with "starters", most often backups will have no chance to "save a season".
  12. Yeah, because Tebow is jacked, and that obviously has made him a dangerous throwing QB...
  13. The only one making an issue about this is fans. Williams seems to care less, and Kelsay already said he's keeping the number and Williams is cool with that. The only way Williams wears 90 this year is if Kelsay is cut. End of story.
  14. I don't see how "leaking" it would affect the draft anyway. All of the GM's would have been privy to that information regardless. The leaking of the score only affects the opinions of the fans. Regardless of whether it is a learning disability, reading problems, or just insanely low intelligence, a 4 on the wonderlic is a scary bad number. I'd say there is more reason to investigate LSU to determine how he stayed academically eligible... Maybe someone with Alabama connections leaked it? Obviously the Bills wouldn't have cared, they are in talks with Vince Young...
  15. Regardless of skill, anyone not named Mario Williams, Carrington, Anderson, and Kelsay will have a hard time making the team at DE just due to the numbers game (assuming Batten and Moats could only make the team as DE's). Eddin's I think could play 4-3 LB. Merriman is coming off injury, but I think much of his contract is guaranteed. So if he's healthy, I think he will make the team. I personally think Kelsay should start opposite Williams, with Anderson coming in on passing downs. However Kelsay has a decent salary this year, the Bills MAY consider cutting him for that reason. If he gets cut one of those other guys might have a chance. I doubt that will happen though, the Bills have been decimated by injuries in recent years. Mario Williams, Merriman, and Kyle Williams are all coming off serious injuries, I doubt the Bills want to lose the depth they have built up this off season.
  16. I respectfully but completely disagree with this. Actually, Batten saw plenty of playing time after Merriman went down, but did absolutely nothing. As a matter of fact he was beaten badly over and over again on the run, and didn't get a sniff of the QB. That's why the coaches stopped playing him. Not that we had any strong pass rushers last year, but how could you consider Moats our best? What did he do exactly? Dareus was actually our best consistent pass rusher, with Kelsay a very close second whether you want to admit it or not. Kelsay may have only had 5 sacks, but he was the only one to provide consistent pressure from the outside, even if he lacks the closing burst and agility to finish. Moats had 2.5 on the rarely successful speed rush, but other than that never got near the QB and was a gigantic liability against the run.
  17. This seems like common sense to most people, some people just don't have it.
  18. I still don't get why people love this guy. What has he ever done on the field other than a single hit on Farve? The guy was a defensive end in college, failed miserably at 3-4 OLB and ILB in the NFL IMO (had plenty of chances to prove himself), and know is behind a host of much more capable and experienced real NFL DE's. I don't see anyway he makes the team, he may be cut before training camp. He is not a solid tackler, does not look good in the open field, and has no coverage skills, so 4-3 LB is pretty much out of the question. I don't think he played much on ST, and when he did he was invisible... Nothing against the guy, he just doesn't doesn't look like an NFL player. They can't all succeed.
  19. Have you followed these players at all? I think you have that last line exactly opposite. Anderson is the situational pass rusher, Keslay is the every down guy. And did you even read the article? Kelsay just want's to finish his career with that number, HE brought it up with Williams not the other way around. You are just off here.
  20. Well said. Kelsay is not spectacular, but solid.
  21. Complete non issue, way to make something over nothing. Williams is a low key guy, and according to Kelsay could care less about it. Kelsay could very well be cut due to his salary, and the fact that he plays the same RDE that Williams plays. The number has nothing to do with it. Personally I think the Bills need Kelsay. The only complete DE on the roster other than Williams that can play every down. Anderson and Merriman (if he makes it) are pure pass rushers, Carrington has been inconsistent at best so far.
  22. I much prefer being the underdog... It will make victory that much sweeter
  23. You have to take into account this guy did not play at a big "football" school, and he was a UDFA. He's a long shot to make the team, let alone be successful in the NFL. Having said that, listening to this guy, how can you not root for him? The guy sounds honest, humble, and hard working, and has an ivy league brain as well (double major at Brown). As far as I know he hasn't fathered 5+ kids from different women, doesn't have a criminal record, and doesn't have a need to mess with drugs and fire arms. This is the type of guy you'd love to see come in and surprise everyone
