I think he would need some pretty serious chains and reinforced rafters to keep this one... -

New Era sideline caps
Turbosrrgood replied to Optometric Insight's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It sucks getting old. So if kids bend their brims like I did in high school (mid 90's, and still do), the kids in high school NOW would make fun of them and say "you dress like that old guy", and point to me... -

In other news, the bright blue logo on a bright solid blue hat with a bright red brim just looks ridiculous IMO. Then there is the "grampa" style mesh form, and the ghetto flat brim. Do people actually buy these? -

CBS Sports Top 10 Jerks in the NFL
Turbosrrgood replied to The Cincinnati Kid's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I actually thought the list was pretty good, I would have put Cromartie at #2 though... If I didn't have a soft spot for dogs, he'd be number one... For those throwing out older names, they specifically mention only current NFL players/coaches (making an exception for Owens)... I don't think Haynesworth has retired though, he certainly could/should be on there... I also think Rex Ryan is a far bigger Douche bag/Jerk than Schwartz or Harbaugh. -
Former Buffalo Bill Marcus Stroud retires
Turbosrrgood replied to Just Jack's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I wish he retired BEFORE he was a Bill... Weird, considering he was picked up at the same time as Dockery, who was WAY more expensive and disappointing. Walker was overpriced But I didn't think he played that badly considering how bad the rest of the line was. He was far better than Cornell Green who they replaced him with. I remember wanting them to keep him until they found someone better. How was TO not listed as a top FA bust? We paid him 6.5 mil for one year in which he did nothing. -
I actually had no problem with SJ's t-shirt signs, in principal. They were quick and harmless, didn't offend anyone. But where does it stop? The fact that he does it, and plans it, KNOWING he is going to take a penalty and hurt his team is what bothered me about those. You could actually argue that he took two penalties that cost his teams games, the jets short field position that they turned into a lead, and him getting benched at NE. Funny that you mentioned reading, since you keep responding to things I never even said. I never said SJ did anything "terrible". It's also funny how you keep phrasing things like "except for the examples already given what did the guy do"...You are basically acknowledging that the point has already been proven. Again, I was not talking about SJ per say, as I specifically stated in my prior post (more selective reading). TO did the Pom Pom's, I was speaking about celebrations in general, as I have this entire conversation. If you are of the opinion that these celebrations should be allowed, that's fine, you're welcome to that. Just try to reply to what others are actually saying. Yeah it doesn't matter where you are on the field, they will call the excessive celebration.

Bills Future in Buffalo Partly Sunny
Turbosrrgood replied to jimmy10's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I hear ya man. I'm not sure if I'd even want to anyway. -
You are joking right? You really can't see how those kind of celebrations differ from guys writing messages on their shirts, taking cheerleaders pom pom's, pretending to shoot themselves in the leg to mock other players, ect...? If that is the case there is no helping you in this conversation. Guys have been dancing and celebrating as far back as I can remember...Fine, nothing wrong with that. But there is a limit, at least that is an opinion that many share. The stuff that SJ got in trouble for in no way compares to anything shown in that video. It's really an awful comparison, and does nothing to make your point. I'm assuming your point is that players should be allowed to celebrate as often as they want, for as long as they want, in any manner they want. Regardless of the disruption to the game, and whether it offends anyone or not.

Bills Future in Buffalo Partly Sunny
Turbosrrgood replied to jimmy10's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Once we hit 90, IF anyone still talks to us or about us, they will be talking this way. The fact that Ralph is still somewhat coherent, is amazing in itself. However I think it's very fair to look past Ralph. He has done amazing things for Buffalo, but at this point he doesn't have much more to offer. Actually, it's quite well known that since he won't sell the team or take action to keep the team in Buffalo, he is keeping the Bills in a state of incredible uncertainty until he passes. For all of the people who's jobs depend on the Bills, and who root for them as sports fans, it's only natural to wonder and worry what will happen after the inevitable. -
Props was only one of the examples I used, and as you stated yourself, he used his own t-shirt. This whole thread was formed on the premise that SJ has a history of excessive celebration. So uh, yeah, it has everything to do with SJ. However if you read my post I never even mentioned him, I was talking about excessive celebration in general. I think in some weird way you are actually asking yourself those questions, since they don't make any sense in a reply to my post.

That may be entertainment to you, but many people like myself just want to watch football. Not some clown acting like a douche bag. You really want our players emulating TO and Chad Johnson? Celebrate, fine. But using props, and writing signs, and all the other dumb **** goes too far. If you don't stop them there, then how much further will they go to one up each other? Maybe Plax should hide a gun in his waist band and fire it off after scoring touchdowns. This is football, not the WWE. They already tried combining the two, and it failed miserably.

The Bills have given Nelson almost no looks at outside WR, they don't like his speed there. I don't think he is even in consideration. I do agree that Hagan is the front runner though. I think Easely will make the team, simply because there is such little depth behind him. I think he is a long shot to be the #2 receiver though, at least to start the year.
-
Honestly, from what I have seen of all the candidates, Hagan has looked by far the best and most consistent. Jones, can't catch, we all know that. Easely has proved nothing to this point, except that he has suspect hands. He would really have to prove he is worthy to have a shot at that #2 spot. I doubt that will happen. Hagan has been playing with the 1st team in SJ's spot, and by all accounts has been the best WR on the field. I would actually be shocked if he doesn't emerge as the #2, barring a FA signing. Hagan may not be anything special, but he has decent speed, decent hands, and runs decent routes. The closest any of those guys is to a complete receiver (Which you need to be, to be a starter). I think he could hold down that spot in this offense.

I think the Bills should sign Visanthe Shiancoe TE
Turbosrrgood replied to Buffbills1fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Notice how all TE's do well playing with Manning, then suck afterwards? There is a reason for that, Manning makes TE's look good. Heck, they have a slow fat TE in Ballard that even looked good last year. Nothing against Shiancoe, but he is no better than any of the other mediocre TE's out there, just more expensive. Plus, clearly Gailey isn't big on the TE position. Chandler is a very good redzone threat, and that's about the only time he uses them. I'd rather they put those resources towards a decent #2 wide out. -
If you remember him "catching pretty much everything thrown at him", then you have very selective memory. Easely did in fact drop some very catchable balls in preseason last year. He made a couple of nice catches, but also had some drops that hit him right in the hands that really made you scratch your head. And while I don't have video to back me up, what reddog said was accurate regarding Easley dropping some. So it's not just you and him talking...

What have the Bills done wrong this offseason?
Turbosrrgood replied to Jeffery Lester's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I would have liked to see a starting caliber receiver picked up, but the Bills did such a good job filling other holes I can't consider that to be "something they did wrong". It's only possible to fill so many gaps in one season. What I DO think they did wrong, was the drafting of TJ Graham with the 3rd pick. No I'm not a pro scout, but what I have seen from this guy is all bad. Very poor hands, an inability to deal with contact (Jamming, vying for position on deep balls, or catching the ball over the middle). There were some really good WR prospects still available at the time IMO, and they traded up for this guy. He potentially could have gone undrafted according to some analysts. I have absolutely loved what Nix has done other than this one move though, so by no means am I trashing him. Hopefully he just knows something about Graham that the rest of the world does not... +1000 That was a fear for me. Manningham is so overrated having played with Nix, Cruz, and Manning. He is average at best, and more suited as a 3rd option for some team IMO. Just like he was in NY. I would have loved Garcon, who wasn't overly expensive. -
Initially I was concerned about the Bills LB's, but I am less so now. Morrison is not spectacular, but a very capable and experienced vet. Barnett is a top level LB IMO, great speed, and he should thrive as a weak side LB. Absolutely no concern there. My only real concern is Sheppard, I thought he looked iffy last season, and now he is being asked to learn a new defense (granted a similar one to what he played in college), and has been penciled in to start without having proved anything. It would have been nice for there to be a competition, after all Morrison has actually been a MLB his whole NFL career. I do like the depth they picked up in the draft though, particularly Bradham. I get the impression he could step in and start right away if needed. I don't know a ton about Carder, but I heard his strength is instincts and tackling. Instincts are far more important than combine numbers IMO. Like always we have to hope for health, If Sheppard were to get hurt, that would throw everything off. Either White would take his spot (hope not), or Morrison would have to switch back to MLB, and Bradham gets thrown in at the strong side. Even more important is Barnett's health, we don't have anyone on the roster that can even come close to his capability on the weak side. We NEED him, all season.

Actually, he made a perfectly valid point. People get all hyped up about young players and tend to notice the good, and conveniently ignore the bad...Easley seemed to me to have A LOT of trouble holding on to balls in his limited chances in training camp/preseason last year. He had one nice TD catch, other than that looked average at best...And yes, whether or not you saw it, or just don't want to admit it, Easley dropped a bunch of very catchable balls last camp. That is actually the thing about him that stood out the most to me last year. I'd love for Easley to step up and be the man, hopefully he will. Let's not ignore reality though, he has yet to see an NFL game, and has done very little to impress in a Bills uniform. Heck it's not like he even had a good college career, he was a walk on at UCONN and had a career total of 53 receptions, and became a 4th rnd pick. Easley is another one of those baseless TBD hall of famers, like Aurthur Moats, Danny Batten, ect... Like it or not, Hagan and Jones are probably the top candidates for that #2 spot to start the season. I'm not a Jones fan, but I think Hagan could be decent.

I'm surprised people have negative things to say about DTV. Cable service is so far in a way inferior it's ridiculous. Plus DTV offers more channels, more HD, and far superior boxes to the cable competition. I switched to DTV after the awful quality and service of my cable company finally forced me to it. I will never look back, my experience with DTV has been pretty close to perfect. If anyone has used the awful software/hardware combination you get from Time Warner, using DTV is probably similar to walking through the white pearly gates of heaven.... Also, isn't the Sunday Ticket only $200 this year on DTV? As opposed to the ~$350 you pay for the streaming package.

Post-Polian failure, and why Nix may be different
Turbosrrgood replied to Orton's Arm's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yeah, those traits of McKelvin are clear. And let's face it, he is not the smartest guy, hell he can barely talk. So I don't have much confidence that he can all of the sudden learn the "instincts" needed to play the ball. I will say this though, he will likely be battling for a nickle spot on this team. I think he could actually be pretty successful there. When guys are in front of him or near the line of scrimage he has no problem playing the ball. He mainly gets burned on deep passes, when he focuses on his man and completely ignores the ball. Playing nickle could really help him. A guy like Brooks might be even more suited to playing nickle though, so even that he will have to fight for. One area where McKelvin is the absolute man is returning kicks, he should have been doing it all last year. He is truly a top talent at that task IMO.
