  1. I don't think they should move Wilson if he can't play. Plug in Powell for Byrd if necessary. He looked good in the preseason. I'd rather have 1 replacement than 1 replacement and one player out of position.
  2. Exactly, that is Spillers strength. Gailey often runs out of passing formations, which gives him more space (obviously ideal for him). I think he has now proven that he could be a starter in the NFL, but I don't think he is a workhorse type. He also doesn't generally run well in tight formations or in short yardage situations, his game is speed, not power.I think getting Jackson back will give us great balance. I do think Choice has filled in as the "power back" quite nicely though.
  3. I think that stat actually supports my point. A 50/50 run/pass offense is definitely a run happy offense in NFL comparison. Saying they rarely passed may not have been the best choice of words, but clearly the 49'rs were a running football team. My point was that running football teams could win, the 49'rs went 14-2 and won a playoff game. Pretty strong success IMO. Same for the 2000 Ravens (at the extreme end of the spectrum). You certainly wouldn't say they won due to their passing games. The key to winning with a run first mentality on offense really is that you must also have a good defense. Running doesn't work well when playing catch up.
  4. 49'rs kind of fly in the face of this post. Last year they were a pure power running team. They rarely threw the ball, and even more rarely down field. They relied on defense and a good running game. They also happened to be one of the best teams in football last year. Yes this is more than a decade old now, but there is also the old 2000 Ravens argument. They won with the amazing Trent Dilfer...
  5. Haha, now that was entertaining. Unlike the Bills fight clip. The first picture is priceless.
  6. People don't like to hear that, but there is truth in it...
  7. We would look like Dan Snyders Redskins for overpaying mediocre players... Particularly Robinson, he was clearly a product of the system, not a special WR. Ogletree (also a mediocre at best WR), picked up right where he left off. Flynn got beat out by a 5-11 rookie 3rd round draft pick, and Lloyd hasn't been able to do anything on one of the most explosive passing offenses in the league.. None of these guys have done anything through their first 2 games on their new teams. I think this is actually pretty good justification for NOT going after these guys.
  8. I thought this was going to be hilarious, or at least entertaining. Unfortunately this makes all Bills fans look absolutely retarded (no, I'm not politically correct). We need to publish this as little as possible.
  9. Wow, then you saw something completely different than what I saw. I respect your opinion, but I'd watch that Chandler throw again. I just don't see any other way to describe it than he threw it into the ground. Definitely did not look "reception height" to me. I think we can agree they were off target though.
  10. Yeah that's a big time homer pick. I'd say Fitz goes undrafted in 99% of leagues.
  11. Can't argue against your point. So far through two weeks, Fitz's accuracy looks as bad as it's ever been. Even in the win. People love to quote the stats "2 TD's no INT's!" but anyone who watched him objectively would realize his throws were all over the place. He only completed 10 passes. We heard all of the stories about how much Lee has been working to change Fitz's mechanics... Maybe that's not always such a good idea... I defended Fitz all offseason, but so far this year he has me scared. How about the first throw of the game to Chandler? Threw it straight into the ground. If it's even close to on target it's a huge pick up, possibly TD. I would imagine that is what people are referring to. He also threw one in the ground targeting SJ.
  12. Unfortunately Kenrick Ellis has looked pretty good every time I've watched him, losing Po'uha doesn't really hurt them. So Pears is supposedly starting right? Despite missing the whole preseason?
  13. The way I see it, it's the end of the offseason. We've pretty much covered everything there is to talk about...Now we are just waiting for the season to start... tick. tick. tick....
  14. Thought the exact same thing. Also as exciting as CJ CAN be, he probably has a bigger low-light reel, where he just runs in place for a loss or gets arm tackled at the line of scrimmage. Don't get me wrong, I like CJ and he should be a weapon for the Bills this year...There is just no question in my mind though that FJ is by far in a way the better back. That's who I'm really excited to see, he could do big things with a decent defense (more running), a healthy offensive line, and a full season... I have a feeling the Bills will be using CJ heavily as a WR in the spread... I've always though of him more of a Sproles type of back.
  15. Point taken, I certainly wouldn't have used the words the OP used in the title. That will always invite tough responses.
  16. I'm not saying it's never happened, but I have never seen a "regular" official call a block in the back clipping. They are two very different penalties, with different punishments. That's why it stood out to me.
  17. Why do people keep getting so defensive about the officials, and infer things that were never said? I never said they sucked (in fact I said they were the best replacement crew, 2nd time I had to repeat that), I was simply pointing out what happened on that play. This is part of what I said in that exact post "In the grand scheme of things it was a meaningless mistake. That is one of those thing that you would not see the "regular" officials do though."
  18. You missed the point, that's not clipping (personal foul). It was a borderline block in the back. In the grand scheme of things it was a meaningless mistake. That is one of those thing that you would not see the "regular" officials do though.
  19. I never said it was a big deal. I also said they were the best officiating crew of the replacements. I was merely pointing out that the OP was correct in saying that they missed a bunch of calls, particularly holding by the Cowboys O-line, and the blatant hold against Cruz in the endzone. And no, I would say that they certainly missed more than 5 calls. Yes the "regular" officials miss those call too sometimes, I don't dispute that.
  20. Perhaps you need to read my post a little more carefully, since I specifically said they didn't affect the outcome of the game. No need to get upset just because you didn't notice the missed calls... Haha, yeah I kept getting weirded out every time he made a call. I know this is politically incorrect, but his face has a bit of a down syndrome look to it...
  21. He was watching the same thing everyone else was. Just because you didn't see the missed calls, doesn't mean they didn't exist... Cruz was blatantly held in the endzone, and the Giants D-line was getting held all night. I won't argue that regular officials don't also miss that stuff, but the fact of the matter is those calls were missed... And the phantom clipping penalty on the kick return cannot be explained...
  22. You can disagree. But they definitely missed a ton of holding calls, and called some penalties they shouldn't have. They looked better than most of the crews in the preseason, and didn't obviously affect the outcome of the game, I'll give you that. They also called a phantom "clipping" (it was a borderline block in the back, not a personal foul) call on a kick return, which even had Michaels/Collinsworth scratching their heads. Kind of reminded me of the two "block in the backs" during the return called on KICKING teams in the preseason (something that in theory shouldn't be possible). Or the Bills first punt of the preseason, which was downed at the 6, but they somehow called a touchback... As he said, this was the best crew. I'm sure we will see some pretty interesting officiating the rest of week one. Unlike the preseason, these games matter and mistakes won't be quite as "funny" any more.
  23. This ^. This isn't the guy's obituary. He clearly pissed a lot of people off in his time, and people are still going to speak their mind about it. Things said on the internet by anonymous people definitely shouldn't be taken so seriously. I doubt his family is scouring NFL forums right now looking for things people are saying about him... Actually, they are probably jumping for joy wondering when they can get their hands on his money...
  24. That is hilarious for obvious reasons... Unfortunately Howard looked ok in his time in there. After watching Hunter's play in the preseason, I was so hoping to see him try to block Williams and Co. You'd like to hope they will still school Howard, but Hunter was a mess...
