  1. I actually really wanted Bennett in the draft...Turns out your instincts were better in this case... Keller looks pretty darn good when healthy. IMO, Bennett has been a huge disappointment in the NFL. He stunk with Dallas, and despite ok production with Manning, he was VERY inconsistent on the Giants. Manning LOVES his TE's and Bennett should have been able to do much more. He drops a lot of balls, and runs sloppy routes. I don't think he's at all better than Chandler.
  2. I'm skeptical that the Bills will actually go after any of those guys seriously, but especially doubtful about Avril/Kruger/Albert. I like that you suggest we still need OT help, because I agree to some extent. However with Glenn looking solid, and a servicble group of options at RT (Hairston, Pears, Sanders?), I doubt the Bills will be looking at top options there. At CB, it depends on if we resign McKelvin, who Nix has said he wants to start (could be bs). If we don't sign him, Williams could be an option. I don't know much about Vasquez, other than the fact that the SD oline as a whole looked pretty damn bad last year. But if we don't sign Levitre, we will need one. Personally I think the Bills biggest needs are LB (ILB for a 3-4, all of them if they stick with a 4-3), WR, and SS.
  3. I think this is a bit overly critical. On a terrible defense, with terrible coaches he was one of the few players that played with any consistency. He was doubled or chipped most of the time and never got any help from blitzes, the RDE, or secondary. The guy still had 10+ sacks, and provided plenty of pressure otherwise. He was also the only DE on the team capable of providing ANY help against the run game. Is he worth 100M? Maybe not, but I thought he played pretty well after his slow start. I guess with Kelsay gone people have to start directing their hate elsewhere though...
  4. Ellerbe looked decent last year, but I'm not convinced he's necessarily the big time player he is being touted as. If he comes at a high cost (which may very well be the case, SB ring factor alone) we might be better off looking elsewhere. Ellerbe was a UDFA, that has had only 1 full season in the NFL, on a defense that was gashed at times. If we can get him at a reasonable price sure, he's probably better than what we have...I don't see a star here though, to say we couldn't draft someone better seems pretty baseless. On a side not, Kruger seems unlikely as an option for us. As good as he is, the Bills already spent 100M on Williams (not to mention wasting 28M on Anderson last year).
  5. Oh my god no. Finely has been explosive at times, but is inconsistent (drops) and oft injured with production bloated by having one of the best QB's in the league throwing to him. To top it off he insists on being one of the highest paid TE's in the league...With all of the players the Bills need this offseason, throwing all of our money at him would be a huge mistake IMO. More importantly, I'm sure Nix isn't even considering this.
  6. Don't get me wrong, I'm a Levitre fan, he does his job and had been durable when the rest of the line has not...but he has been a bit over-hyped on TBD. If the Bills can sign him for around 6M a year, they should do it, he's worth that...If he is looking for top guard money (around 9M a year) then they should pass IMO. The Bills have a ton of starting and reserve positions to fill, they can't afford to overpay for a guard. My opinion is that guards are not nearly as hard to replace as OT's and C's, and the Bills will have a new offensive system anyway. Heck just look at Urbik, we picked him up off waivers, and he has been pretty good when healthy. I'd love to keep Levitre, so long as we still have the room to sign the FA's we need at other positions to make this team competitive ( Why does using the word "competitive" when referring to the Bills in anyway make me laugh?).
  7. I like Cruz, but keep in mind this would be a top 10 pick PLUS signing him to a huge contract, AND the Giants would have the right to match it. Considering the huge problem Cruz had with drops last year, I'd rather they roll the dice on a guy like Patterson instead.
  8. I knew it would take about 2 seconds for someone to say we should bring these guys in. The way I see it, Atlanta cut these players for good reasons. Abraham was the most effective of the 3, but he is really late in his career. Expecting much out of him in a new system at his age would be pretty optimistic. I used to be a huge Turner fan, and wanted the Bills to make a play for him when he was with SD. He used to have that amazing combo of speed and bowling ball build. Back then he was the burner though, now he is more like the blob. He has just gotten slow, fat and old. I'd take Tashard Choice over him at this point in his career. Dunta has just never been as good as he was supposed to be. I wouldn't be opposed to signing him to compete if he came at a reasonable price. But I'm not a big fan. So I guess I agree with you that of the 3, Dunta would make the most sense.
  9. More "I recognize him, sign him!" reactions... The guy was drafted in the 3rd, has done absolutely nothing in the NFL, and now all of the sudden is worth a 2nd? AND he would need to be resigned? Someone's math is off...
  10. Aaron Williams was more of a safety prospect than a CB prospect going into the draft. The Bills played him at CB out of necessity, and it's been proven that he doesn't belong there...The Bills now have a huge need at safety, expect him to get a look there. To think he is going to be cut is pretty unrealistic.
  11. Crack? Cocaine, or Meth maybe? Either way you should cut back a little.
  12. This ^. Poor talent evaluation and personnel decisions are what made the Sabres what they are today, similarly to the Bills. IMO, their lack of success sits squarely on the shoulders of Darcy. Vanek and Miller are top talents IMO, but they don't have anywhere near the depth and total talent of the good teams in the NHL. Most glaringly on Defense, and lines 3/4.
  13. It's funny, after watching the colts blow up our O-line with pressure for 60 minutes I figured he'd have better numbers than that. I guess if he couldn't get a sack in THAT game then he must be washed up.
  14. Yeah that very well could happen. It wouldn't surprise me at all if someone tried that, I'm sure the laws could be twisted to serve that purpose. I would of course be deeply disappointed to see it though. One scenario I could see is if a child got injured playing, while using hand me down equipment provided by the parent. An older helmet for instance, might be considered unsafe compared to newer ones, even if it is approved and allowed by rule.
  15. While I agree that this is an example of why laws like the one suggested should never be passed, I think you are misrepresenting the law in suggesting that kids are somehow allowed to be legally harmed by alcohol. Actually there are plenty of child neglect laws that would protect kids against damage of any kind, including alcohol. Allowing a teenager to have a glass of wine at a religious dinner for instance, is not the same as a kid going to the hospital with alcohol poisoning or suffering any proven harm. The law IS however, a good example of letting parents make reasonable decisions for their family as opposed to having some politicians make the decision for them.
  16. Maybe we should ban kids from riding tricycles too, they've caused many a bumped head or skinned knee. Big Wheels and Radio flyers too...Actually, lets just lock all kids in a padded room until they are 18, just to be on the safe side. What's wrong with outlawing something like this? I'll tell you, someone wanting to make decisions for other people based on their own controversial opinion. Let the parents and their kids make their own decisions.
  17. Haha, this cracked me up. The posts were actually on the goal line, even worse, but I always thought the same thing. You didn't need today's technology or years of discussion to see the error in that. It was a bad idea from the start.
  18. Absolutely this ^...along with implementing sensible rules such as preventing hits to the head, wedge's, or chop blocks. The league actually impressed me last year when they changed the rule of "roughing the passer" call to include language that says if a defender makes contact with a QB's head, that it must be a "forcible blow" to draw a penalty. Basically this cut down on the "BS" calls when a defenders hand grazed the helmet while trying to block a pass. Yet the rule still prohibits anything that might cause injury. This is a perfect example of a rule that enhances player safety, without unnecessarily diminishing the game.
  19. Yeah, sorry if I don't believe that this will have any impact in preventing either of those things...It's just an excuse to suggest radical change. That also doesn't explain why the NHL is considering expanding the playoffs to 20 teams. That certainly has nothing to do with preventing injuries.
  20. This game has been around for a long time...If you want to see bigger fields, watch the CFL. I am not a fan of drastically changing the game, certainly not without a better reason than this. This basically would put an asterisk next to all the stats from before the supposed field change, since it would change the dynamics of the game so greatly. File this one away with the NHL's plan to let 20 teams into the playoffs...ridiculous. Personally I don't get why people always want to change these sports that have been so great for so long.
  21. I second this...the rest of the list made me want to vomit honestly. Especially Mendenhall, I'd imagine we can find several UDFA's that are far better.
  22. This is great IMO, if confirmed. The Bills are stuck with that cap hit no matter what if they don't restructure. Plus there is no reason to dump Fitz before seeing what he can do in Marrone's scheme, he could be a good backup at worst. I'm also skeptical that anyone the Bills might draft this year would be ready to start right away, including Nassib.
  23. The 49ers still made it farther with Kaepernick than they did with Smith. If they "failed" with Kapernick at QB, than they really failed with Smith...
  24. Haha, love this post. I'm thinking TJ Graham may suffer from the same condition.
  25. I'd love to re-sign him at a reasonable value. He is indeed one of the best PR in the league. I think he would also make a solid nickle/reserve back. This is a weird situation, in a rare time when a team is actually interested in re-signing a player that is essentially a bust (he was supposed to be a lockdown corner). I don't think there is any magical scheme that will mask his inability to locate the ball downfield, however I think he provides good value for the reasons listed above. Having said all that I don't think he will be back. I think some other team will throw some money at him and promise him a chance to compete for a starting job (even though I don't think he can be a reliable starter).
