  1. I So you are basically saying either he is done, or will be great...Nice. Still, I'd like to know what exactly is making you think he "is done"? The dude came off of a very serious injury last year (detached achilles) and played pretty well IMO, he had 5 sacks. The injury he PLAYED THROUGH last year, is considered less serious, and from the sounds of it he is expected to be healthy by training camp. I just don't see any evidence that would suggest this guy "is done". He's only 29 BTW. This ^
  2. The only problem is Flynn really hasn't done anything to prove he is deserving of a "hard bargain". The Seahawks are thinking championship quality teams based around Wilson, they don't want or need all of that money tied up with Flynn. When it comes down to it the Seahawks want to get rid of Flynn as much as any other team wants to pick him up. IMO, Flynn=Kolb right now...The only difference is Kolb is a FA, and right now SEA is looking for high draft picks in return for a guy drafted in the 7th, and has played exactly 1 good game in the NFL.
  3. Haha, what makes Flynn so good? His 1 or 2 decent games with a loaded Packers team ( Rob Johnson, Kolb, and many other nobodies have done this)? His 7th round draft selection? His mediocre at best play in college? His being beat out by a rookie 3rd rounder despite being traded for and signed to a big contract? I'm not against picking up Flynn at all, but he's as much of a crap shoot as anyone else we may pick up this year. The Seahawks may very well cut him if they don't get more interest in him, or at least sell him cheap. Personally I don't think the Bills will trade much for him, nor do I think he's worth it. But if they cut him, or start getting desperate and offer him for cheap then they might go for it. Just saw this a few minutes ago for what it's worth, http://espn.go.com/b...d-in-matt-flynn
  4. He has thrown an NFL pass, his 0 completion percentage and 39.6 passer rating may raise some concerns though.
  5. He's one of the guys I'd like the Bills to consider, still relatively young guy with high up side, yet cheap(ish). I'd rather a younger high upside guy than an aging vet on a rebuilding team.
  6. What would make you think he comes anywhere near that? 4 of the last 5 seasons he has not recorded a single sack. Last year he recorded a whopping 68 tackles. Exactly, not going to happen with an old vet.
  7. I don't picture Urlacher going to any team using 3-4 sets, when he played his whole career in a tampa 2. Especially a guy at the end of his career. He doesn't seem to fit Pettine's system at all. If we want an old washed up MLB, we might as well just sign Bart Scott. It wouldn't surprise me if he retires, I don't think any team will pay him close to 5M a year, and I wouldn't be surprised if there is little interest in him as a starter baring injury. The patriots are sometimes interested in this type of player though, and he'd probably be interested due to the winning potential alone.
  8. According to this, no. http://sports.yahoo....14814--nfl.html We wouldn't know about the 2014 draft until next year, when I think the loss of Levitre will get us something but probably not much. Until I saw this post I was actually going to start a thread to ask if anyone believed there was a good reason for the "compensation picks". It just doesn't make sense to me. 3 teams this year got 3rd round picks, a pretty hefty windfall if you ask me. It actually seems like this program rewards teams for not signing their best players, and the awards seem to be somewhat arbitrary. Personally I think the compensation picks are a scam, and mostly benefit teams that are already at the top of the league in talent (Hou, ATL, Bal, SF, were among the best compensated getting either a 3 or 4 plus later picks as well). If the compensation picks were all rounds 5 and later, I could buy into that. But giving away 3rd and 4th round picks doesn't seem fair IMO. Maybe someone can explain it to me in a way I haven't thought of yet.
  9. Interesting Here is what scares me... Oprah Nursing homes Midgets Large terrestrial birds
  10. Very well put, I agree with everything you said.
  11. I definitely agree with your sentiments, although I hope Wood stays at center. He plays at a pro-bowl level there when healthy IMO. Thinking on the positive side, letting Levitre go may make it easier to keep Wood. I'd like to see them resign him early, since his value should be lower right now due to his injuries. The irrational panic over losing a GUARD, when this team has MUCH bigger problems still baffles me. Hahaha, based on what? If losing Levitre hurts us, it would be in the run game...Somehow losing a LG makes our tackles unable to pass protect anymore?!? We go from one of the least sacked teams to the most, all because we have a different LG?
  12. Not the Broncos, Rahim Moore. One of the most overrated safeties in the league, and a whiny scumbag. The Bills FO might have preferred that too, had they thought there was even a snowball's chance in hell he'd come here.
  13. Well it doesn't look like the Chargers O-line is getting any better, Rinehart sucks...I'm also pretty sure the Bills had no intention of trying to resign him as this tweet suggested (saying he was thought to be the backup to Levitre). I'm guessing either Hairston or Zebrie Sanders get's some time at guard this offseason.
  14. What do you want us to do? Flip out and scream that the sky is falling because we didn't overpay a good but not great G? I think we all would have preferred to keep Levitre, but he is now one of the highest paid guards in the league (overpaid in the opinion of some). He's a GUARD. That is the least of my concerns with this team now... Let's get a QB, WR's, LB's, SS, CB, TE, RT before we worry about the easiest position to replace on the line (we picked up Urbik, our other good guard off WAIVERS).
  15. Which I explicitly said in my post, note the (franchise) comment? The player still has to sign the offer, so he was indeed signed using the franchise tag.
  16. What exactly has happened to the roster so far? We cut Fitz? We cut Barnett and Wilson who were god awful last year? We lost injured and underperforming UDFA's in Nelson/Jones? We lost Levitre, a good but not great guard (easiest position to replace on the line) who is now one of the highest paid in the league? Our roster sucked to begin with, I'm fine with everything that has happened so far for the most part. I would have liked to kept Nelson, but this roster needed to be "cleaned". If they haven't attempted to fill the many holes on this team by training camp, then I'll be concerned. Like it or not this is most likely going to be a long term rebuild though, not just this offseason. We did sign (franchise) our best FA, in Byrd.
  17. Haha, love it. I'll also add that I don't believe any FA signings, including Levitre will all of the sudden make the Bills a competitor this year. This rebuliding is going to take beyond this year IMO, especially without any QB. No point in blowing our wad on one or two overpriced FA's, when we aren't even close to competing. I'd like to see the Bills at least field an NFL quality roster first. Spread that money out over quality, but perhaps unproven mid tier talent to fill the many holes on this team.
  18. I'm skeptical that he will ever be a Bill again, but I have no problems with Florence, especially as depth (which is what I think he would be at this stage in his career). Personally I thought he always played hard, and was very physical...He had some mental lapses, but I think some of that is attributed to the awful coaching we've had. His main problem now is his age, and he's probably lost a step. He's not much competition for the starting spot, which is what we really need.
  19. There are a few things that make me really question your thinking on this comment. #1, Glenn only played a partial season, and came back from a fairly serious injury to still have a very good year. As a rookie no less. While we haven't seen enough of him to make any real judgement, It's tough not to be impressed by what he has done so far. #2 While Levitre has been solid, and very durable (his best attribute), he hasn't gone to any pro-bowls. He has been a good but not dominant LG in my mind. People are getting a bit too hyped up over Levitre IMO. Perhaps it's that this team is not used to having many decent players, so the few we do get we put on a pedestal. #3 Glenn plays LT, one of the toughest positions in football. Glenn also played some guard at Georgia, and was projected by some to be a guard in the NFL. Judging by what I saw him do in the run game as a LT last year, I can only imagine that he would play G at a very high level. Levitre played OT through out college, but didn't fair well at all when playing that position in the NFL, or center for that matter. So I agree that it's not fair to say Glenn is the best "drafted OL value" at this time, but I also don't see how you can make an argument that Levitre is "much better" than Glenn.
  20. Glenn looked pretty good last year for a rookie, but the dude has yet to play a full season in the NFL. Let's not get ahead of ourselves here. Having said that I consider him and Wood tied as our best Olinesman. Glenn was a beast in the run game.
  21. I didn't at all take away from this article that the idea of bringing an NFL team to LA is dead. What is apparently dead is the current proposal from AEG for a downtown stadium to host an NFL team. Actually, the article made it sound like there are still several companies interested in making something happen via a different plan. Certainly it sounds like any prospect of a new LA team is delayed at the very least though. I just hope that timing isn't say around the 7 year mark, when the Bills lease expires. LA is too big of a city not to have a team, there will always be someone wanting to try this. Even with a solid record of failure.
  22. That's fine, I have no problem at all with putting an offer in for Ellerbe if it's reasonable. IMO you are greatly overvaluing him though (UDFA that has yet to play a full season)...And to say the Bills wouldn't be able to draft a better player because you have been hurt by their choices in the past is ridiculous . You can get defensive and try to justify it all you want, my only point was that suggesting that Ellerbe is better than anyone the Bills might draft is wrong...Which is exactly what you were suggesting.
  23. Cook is good, but I would prefer walker anyway...He impressed me every single time he was on the field, he's one of those guys that can help in a lot of ways, and with Chandler still on the roster he would be a great compliment to him. Side note.. Just say NO to Bennett, he had one decent, but still disappointing year IMO with the Giants...Look at all of the TE's that have looked good with Manning only to do absolutely nothing afterwards, and Bennett didn't even look as good as those guys. Shockey, Shancoe, Boss, Ballard all looked good with the Giants, with good receivers over the top leaving them wide open, and all were disappointments after that. I see nothing about Bennett that makes me think he will be good after leaving the Giants. He drops a lot of passes, and runs sloppy routes. Probably why the giants don't want him back.
  24. I agree, he's older now but he would fill a big need for us if we do go to a mostly 3-4 D. Plus he would help with the transition. He should come cheap too, although I wonder if the Ravens will also show some interest, seeing as they have some holes themselves.
  25. You said "we wont draft a player better than Ellerbe". So you are saying that since the Bills haven't drafted anyone great in the last few years , the Bills will never be able to draft anyone better than the great UDFA one year wonder Ellerbe...Got it. Great insight
