Strong praise for Perry Fewell
Homey D. Clown replied to dave mcbride's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I still wouldn't want him here as a coach, I find the Tampa2 defense a highly suspect scheme, even when you do have talented players running it, which, in case anyone hasn't noticed, was not present when it was run here. I loved Wade's defense however. -
After seeing Mission Impossible this past week, I am convinced he's really Jerry Springer in disguise. again, it should surprise no one that his rhetoric is written to incite negative reactions. Everything is geared towards how bad the Bills are for ridding themselves of said player, coach, piece of equipment, you name it. These types of articles are written from a revisionist historical perspective. We all know these coaches/players, ETC didn't perform well while they were here, but it's a lot more controversial to point out when these departed people do well, that the Bills organization is diabolically flawed for dumping them. If you must read his bone-headed garbage, read it simply to get a laugh, and marvel in the fact that the Buffalo News organization employs such a low grade journalist that writes articles that barely qualify as bad blog fodder.

This is not a propaganda thread but more my feelings about him as a head coach, and how simply winning games affects how he is viewed. I personally think he has done very well with regards to getting the most out of players, putting together the right people on offense, especially the offensive line, and generally making it very well known that you either perform, or you sit. at 21-0 and the team rolling, I was very impressed with his conviction in sitting Stevie Johnson for taking yet another idiotic celebration penalty. The guy is not perfect, but it took a lot of guts to do that. It's easy to question the offensive playcalling when you're losing, but if you look at the saints, the Packers, or even the paytiolets, the Bills attack was on par with creativity, and aggressiveness. When the game-plan is not executed according to the drawing, it's easy to say how his approach was too pass-happy, but if the team went 11-5 it wouldn't even be a discussion. I was also on board with dumping malcontent marshawn lynch, and sending Lee evans out to pasture. He's going to coach the team and it's players the way he sees fit, and this franchise has not had that in years. While some of the blame has to fall on the coaches shoulders for some of the poor play, i don't think running this coach out of town is remotely the answer, and would be one of the dumbest moves the team could make in recent years. For now, I am hoping the team stays the course, i think the ship is headed in the right direction, and with some depth and stronger defensive play, I think a corner can be turned. Constant turnover and rebuilding can't be good for any players, but I do think Chan is the right guy for the job, and if his players deliver, and they actually field a defense next year, we just might see the team become very relevant again.

was anyone else amazed that
Homey D. Clown replied to ....lybob's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
that stat says a lot about how important Thurman Thomas was to this team. Andre Reed was the go-to guy in a very balanced attack, and his numbers while very respectable were never league leading. That's something the HOF should take into consideration when looking at him as a candidate. Singe season achievements for individuals in a team sport shouldn't be the only thing they look at. -
I was being speculative on how a young player might take a signing like this, I was in no way suggesting the Bills were going to look at Clowney as a replacement, but no matter how much this guy is not the same type of player as Johnson, in my opinion of course, I still think it has to send a message to a guy in contract talks that the team is bringing in other talent, especially when they sign another player a few days after the season's end. To me it's clearly a psychological move. I'd rather engage a fellow board member with an intelligent discussion over the possibility this was a head game signing rather than the latter, and I was being serious, but my reply to you was sarcasm, light-hearted, but sarcasm none the less.

Fisher leaning towards the Dolphins' gig
Homey D. Clown replied to Coach Tuesday's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
He is a very good coach, but that doesn't make me worried in any way, I was more concerned when Parcells was there than I am now. -
Really? Care to elaborate on why signing a receiver to the roster when you have one with a contract issue would NOT in any send a message to him? Wait, what am I thinking, of course you don't need to be rational with your comment, this is the internet, where sarcastic responses are wicked awesome.

I looks to me it's a clear message to Stevie Johnson that he needs to be realistic about his new contract, and if he's not, the team is preparing now for life without him.

the 2012 season will answer a lot of questions for me... I think the team needs to stay with a solid 4-3 system, and I am seriously hoping to see Shawn Merriman return from his surgery, and Torrel Troup who was definitely showing signs of being a solid pick. Dave Wanstedt employs a stout defensive scheme, and if the team drafts a potential elite pass rushing OLB, along with either a corner that can actually cover, or a can't miss DE, the defense will actually start to win some games for them next year. Sprinkle in some depth at O-line and take a shot at a skill position, and success will then rest on how well Fitzpatrick can deliver the ball. Except for the seriously delusional, I think the majority here can agree the Bills probably have the best backfield tandem going into next season, and very likely the long term answer at RB on the roster. WR needs to be an offensive priority, since depth was a major issue. I think Chan Gailey needs to balance his attack slightly, but that becomes a non issue if what he is calling is executed correctly.
-
He employs the Tampa 2 scheme, which in my opinion blows chunks, and was very lucky to even work in Tampa when it was first debuted. They had the likes of derrick Brooks, Warren Sapp, John Lynch, and a stellar secondary. That team is probably the only team that could have pulled off suck a flimsy defensive scheme.

nothing brings me more joy than watching the shots of the houston sideline, and seeing how ridiculous Haywood jeffries looked after he did something remotely good. he swung his arms around like mangled Ken doll. I don't think he had working elbows.

anyone who seriously thinks he is a good player that was a product of bad coaching in Buffalo is either taking that stance just to rile up a debate for funsies, or actually needs his head examined... The guy weighs a paltry 221 lbs currently, can't even play every down, was WAAAAY out of position, or pushed out of the play on several of his sacks, and was lucky the QB held onto the ball too long, AND is simply not good.... Wait, I'm trying to be logical about this again and talk sense... my bad. Whoa is me, the bills suck, we should have kept him....and trent edwards....and dick jauron.............and jp losman.............and 'lil donte....... again I have to ask the question... does it actually hurt out loud to be this pessimistic and spiteful against the Bills as an organization?

Jerry are you out there? Your column sucked.

He knows even less about football, he's a sub-par blog hack that just happens to still have a job at the Buffalo News. He writes over-opinionated garbage that riles up people who don't know any better to avoid his drivel. Like bugs to a zapper. I stopped reading his articles a long time ago, getting upset about his stuff is like arguing with a drunk, it's pointless. -
Buddy Nix should be fired immediately!

What is your Buffalo Bills New Year's Resolution
Homey D. Clown replied to major's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
To not get any hope up just before the 2012 season, and if by some miracle the team wins more than it loses in spite of its-self, I'll be pleasantly surprised, rather than filled with gut wrenching despair. This year's collapse has really left me empty towards this team right now, as I now understand what apathy towards something I have loved with a passion for 30+ years is like. To watch this team crumble exactly like it happened just 3 seasons before was almost the last straw, and now that I can't even look down my nose at Detroit fans anymore was the clincher. The Bills have officially become the Washington Generals. I don't believe these guys are upset after the losses anymore, how can they be? They get paid millions of dollars to suck and let other teams walk all over them... -
Buffalo Bills 2012 Opponents

You have this slightly wrong, we only play 7 home games now that Ralph has decided to kick his loyal fan base in the groin with the Toronto debacle. -
When do we get a new D-Coordinator
Homey D. Clown replied to RyanC883's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Sadly, and I say this with much fear it will actually be true, but I think there is a real possibility Edwards returns next year. When the owner is no longer buying green bananas, I really don't see him endorsing drastic changes anymore. -
I truly think his career as a productive receiver would have benefited from just a little stability, and possibly the chance to actually fight for meaningful games, or even his job as a player from the beginning. To be named the #1 guy by default, and the coaching/qb carousel he endured could not have done him any favors. As a player I loved him for his high character, and quiet leadership, but in the end, it simply wasn't enough.
-
I really hope the populous of Buffalo residents aren't really this miserable, it has to actually hurt out loud to be this negative.
-
I am looking forward to seeing what Easley can do next year now that he has been cleared to play, and to the point though, the Lee Evans trade was absolutely necessary. What good is a guy if he plays wide receiver, but doesn't catch any passes? I don't see anywhere in the media guide the position "Phantom Double Coverage Drawer" or PDCD for the acro-nymphos. Lee is done, has been for a while, and it was nice to see the Bills part ways when the time was right. even when the team makes a good move people will still find something to crap on.

Fire Chan.... Hire Wannstedt
Homey D. Clown replied to GeorgeEdwardsTeeth's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
i don't see anything "suspect" about the majority of his play calling, and even so, it all boils down to player execution, which largely has not happened. Injuries and poor depth have played a large factor in execution, but everyone needs a scapegoat, so sure let's fire him. -
