Chan Gailey- After NE game on Sept. 25th
Homey D. Clown replied to zow2's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
A lot more slack should be given to Chan Gailey's offensive game plan considering the team has one of the worst defenses in NFL history. I can't imaging having to try to put together a plan that calls for your offense to have to score on every drive. Now he'll probably get that slack IF he gets rid of the DC. -
Luxury Pick, Bust, Average at best

Well put, and most of the reason I feel the need to post this as soon as I did was to prove a point. I am not calling the guy a bust, but I am not exulting him to pro bowl status either. I just want the guy to play some games before he gets a TSW label. I hope others reading this "get it" that I posted this so soon after he had a decent game, and see in my original post that I called him nothing more than talented, not the 2nd coming of Jesus Christ. -
Wasn't that long ago ...

You got me, you're so smart. I've been just sitting by my computer with the shades drawn, chain smoking cigarettes, sifting through every post on TSW just WAITING to post this. It's funny though how it took only his 2nd game as a starter to look pretty solid as a starter, whew!!! I really had to wait long for that. This post is funny. the team has 0 play makers on offense aside from Freddie on a regular basis, and at the time the Bills picked him, there were no running backs on the team doing it game in and game out. when you're 6-10 every year, there isn't a pick on the board you can make that could be considered a luxury pick, but hey, it's been said around here, so it HAS to be carved into LAW. I find it hilarious how an idiotic notion that a 6-10 team could even have a luxury pick on the board. Did the team have needs elsewhere, absolutely, but this team has holes to fill everywhere, and in no way can you prioritize when you simply don't have any play makers. They didn't at the time, I don't care how many times people try to rationalize it with the roster at the time. Was Freddie a game changer at the time NO. Was Marshawn 3.7 YPC Lynch a game changer? NO. Spiller was billed as exactly that, and since Lee Evan was a ghost at that time as well, how does anyone even try to rationalize the pick as a luxury? Seriously, try to rationalize it with stats, because you can't, period. All people have around here is simple-minded sarcasm, and that is it. After the 2009 season, who went to the pro bowl on offense? NOBODY. oops, I just made a valid point, yikes!! Good thing we had 2 pro bowl 1000+ yard running backs on offense, and both happy to be in Buffalo.... oops, we didn't have that either. Yep, Spiller was a luxury pick. This is probably the dumbest thing every said on here i have read in 10 years, and there is a lot to pick from. What it really boils down to around here is that no matter what happens in games, on draft day, in practice, whatever, people just aren't happy being Bills fans unless they have something to question, 2nd guess or criticize. Have fun with your luxury pick band-wagoners. -

You are exactly the type of TSW poster I am referencing, and I even made the comment that at a 3.7 YPC average, Marshawn Lynch was HARDLY a stud running back, and Freddie was not proven to be what we saw this year at the time of the draft. CJ would have been a luxury pick if the Bills had Adrian Peterson and Matt Forte, but we didn't, we had 2 running backs that could barely cross 1000 yards, so in no way were the Bills deep at RB in any way. The team needs players everywhere, absolutely no pick could be considered a luxury when you're perennially 6-10 or 7-9. Sorry, you really didn't make any ground in the weak argument that the Bills didn't need him. -
To all the boneheads who think a guy who hadn't carried the ball more than 10 times a game was a bust, or not tough enough to play every down, or couldn't hit a hole, blah, blah, blah... Why aren't you posting all that garbage now? It's still early in his career, and he's clearly shown he's got some real talent, so how about questioning the pick now? Spiller is clearly the most talented guy on offense right now with Freddie out, and people around here STILL can't admit it was way off base to say we didn't need him. I'll even admit it's still a bit early to seek out all the Spiller bashers on this board, but you have to be short a few beans in your burrito to think the guy was a wasted pick. The luxury pick comment still kills me, like this team was EVER deep enough to even warrant that notion, and don't try to rationalize it with the actual fact that marshawn(Least Mode, I want out of buffalo, I have stepped sideways more than I have forwards in my career) Lynch on the team at the time, we all know the guy wasn't going to be around long, and even if he was, he really wasn't that good anyway. How about giving a guy the chance to play a few games before crucifying him around here, if you look back at even my posts, I wanted the team to give Aaron Maybin the chance to at least play a full game(I'm still not sayig what he is doing in NJ is all that amazing), I am just Sayin' to coin a phrase.
-
Same sane group of people who wanted him out of Buffalo are the ones with their mouths shut about CJ Spiller.
-
the wildcat offense is a gimmick that has played its-self out in the NFL and is no longer a real offensive option, and the guy has shown some real speed and ability at the WR position, and you want to complain about it? This place never ceases to amaze me how much people like to hate everything this team does.
-
if the defense continues to be turnstiles up front and on the edges, this team will not win another game. The offense, while holding it's own given the mounting injuries just cannot keep pace like they did earlier in the season, so it comes down to how many drives they can actually stop in this game. I don't have a lot of confidence they can stop Tennessee if Chris Johnson gets past the line, which he will more than likely do on most of his touches.

[closed]It's the injuries stupid
Homey D. Clown replied to major's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I agree about the injuries playing a major factor in the season going south as it has, and also agree 100% that Edwards is a major factor in the team's inability to stop anyone on any drive in any game this or last year. I'll raise you one more point though, that even at full strength, this team is still another player or 2 away from being a true playoff contender, and if you limit that to just 2 more impact players, it would have to be 1 deep threat receiver, and 1 serious pass rusher. I'm not saying 1 or 2 away from being a powerhouse, I'm just suggesting those to additional weapons would actually push this team into the post season. -
the second video linked here was priceless, funniest thing I have seen in a long time...

Bils' Fans Due Some Tribute
Homey D. Clown replied to st. pete gogolak's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
We will be rewarded soon by the incredibly stupid marketing "Genius" Russ Brandon, as they are secretly planning on playing 2....YES... 2 actual "home" games in Toronto after the current steaming piece of crap series is up. The team will essentially be reduced to 6 home games a season, and even more so I feel this whole thing is an embarrassment to the fans and city who have blindly supported one of the most colossally unsuccessful NFL franchises in history over it's entire lifespan. This is what they want, to make it so bad that the fans actually want the team gone, rather than suffer through the misery, or so it seems.... what other excuse is there? Small market teams can't succeed? GIVE ME A F-ING BREAK. There isn't anyone on the planet outside of WNY that believes that BS. I am very passionate about the toronto embarrassment, and I can't fathom how this could benefit anyone in either city. Large corporate sponsors could get the same exposure on national TV if they: .... follow me here, this is where it gets ridiculously tricky for "geniuses" like Russ Brandon and company.... SELL SOME ADVERTISING IN Ralph Wilson Stadium... Whew... that was hard to come up with.... In case anyone was unaware, RWS doesn't have corporate sponsorship, IE "Rich Products"...etc because Ralph Wilson doesn't want it, and this is actual inside information here, he has consistently refused to allow sponsorship naming rights since it has been available the last 10 years. Why would a man crying poverty in WNY do this? You tell me. I know in good faith that a few sponsors have even come from the Toronto area as well, but still it hasn't materialized. If you need some writing on the wall here you go. your welcome loyal WNY Bills fans, and some like me 40+ years of support, it's tough to compete in the NFL Whoe is me. It's no wonder bigger market owners like Jerry Jones wants to choke RW, they have to share their profits with the guy when the same marketing efforts aren't even pursued in his own back yard. For the life of me I can't figure this one out, and maybe I would be able to rationalize it if I didn't know as much about this as I do. Ralph Wilson lovers bash away, and be ever so thankful he hasn't moved the team away from Erie county...yet. -
Is that a rhetorical question?

+1 on this idea.

So I thought I'd update this after today's firings.... seems like a good idea to me now more than ever. I truly don't think the defense could possibly play any worse historically.

Ralph is cheap, why does this constantly surprise people? -
I thought the flying jet crashing into the turf was great, and I find it annoying when they do it to us, so take it for what it's worth. The shooting himself in the leg and hopping around was juvenile because it seemed to be a more personal attack on another player who made a mistake in life and payed for it in prison. Next time we play the Jets, I hope he does the crashing the plane thing again on the sideline, and I think the comments made by the Jets players referencing the 9/11 incident was absolutely ridiculous, and THAT alone is why I hate the jets. They are a bunch of egotistical fatheads who make too much out of nothing, INCLUDING how good the think they are. That team is DAMN lucky they play the Bills and Dolphins twice each year, or they wouldn't even sniff the playoffs.

Please Admit This Season Was Disappointing
Homey D. Clown replied to MacAddict104's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I actually went into last season with an 8-8, 9-7 potential, this year, I expected the same. Next year I expect them to miss the playoffs, and the year after that, and the year after that, and the year after that, and the year after that, and the year after that..... If you run a franchise solely on the basis of making the maximum profit by spending as little as possible, then what else were you expecting? In the financial industry it's called low risk, low reward. In the NFL it's called last place. -
Can anyone provide an update on how he is doing? I understand it was a personal health issue, but I was really hoping to hear if he was doing well. Regardless of whether or not he can play football, I hope he is making progress, and wish him the best.

I am so glad that link ended up with a view like that and not to some spaz in green tights. -
Haha!! I had no idea how far out there this thread had gotten... But If I were on fire literally, thank you to the one gentleman who offered up his precious beer(heavenly nectar as we call it) to extinguish my burning carcass. Holiday is over, all relatives now out of my house, nobody was assaulted(verbally yes, physically, no) and I expect my Scotch induced 5 day state of inebriation should wear off by mid-day wednesday. Sans Bills game it was still nice not to be at work. Now if only I could have a mild stroke for christmas, spend a few days getting sponge baths from young sexy nurses, get a little shut-eye, then return home, say, on January 2nd, I'd be all set.

I love the optimism, I really do, but come on man!!!! You seem better than that. I don't want a george Edwards led defense ever seeing the post season. -
I think this franchise should fire George Edwards, and don't let the guy even take the field in the 2nd half. Send the rest of the team a strong message that losing is no longer tolerated, and if you can't do your job, you'll be sent packing in a way that the whole league will see. Nothing personal to him, I'm sure he is a wonderful guy, but to have as many new people on defense that he now has over last year's team, another year in the system, and a few worthless picks sent packing, he has somehow managed to have the squad performing worse than last year's group. WORSE.... all I can say is that it's really hard to outperform last year's garbage effort, but yet this squad has found a way. they are actually outdoing the fabled 2-14 teams of the mid 80's, something I thought a team could never do once they learned what not to do. So, I say fire him mid game, bench a few A-holes on both sides of the ball, and let the few high character guys on this team, and a few unproven rookies play out the season. Yes, it seems that Edwards is yet another head on a platter, but can anyone question the last one(Jauron and staff)? This one's an even bigger no brainer, he is simply not even capable of game planning a little bit. it's too late to start sucking for luck, so we're actually doing it for nothing at this point.
