Divisional round Saturday - Rams at Bucs on NBC
Livinginthepast replied to Just Jack's topic in The Stadium Wall
Considering McVey is supposed to be a super intelligent coach, his playcalling at the end of the half was idiotic. The Rams should have been passing into the endzone and not running it. They literally just blew a chance for the coup de grace killshot right there at the end of the half. Maybe it wont matter by the end but leaving those points out there and having Brady on the other side is really tempting fate! -
Divisional round Saturday - 49ers at Packers on FOX

One of the greatest injustices in the history of the world, Jim Kelly = zero SB rings , Trent Dilfer = one! I dont begrudge Brad Johnson his. but Dilfer?? Good God he was the luckiest man in the NFL in 2000 for still being in the NFL, let alone on the Ravens! -

Today was a day of karmic retribution for dbaggery in the season. Both Rodgers and Vrabel found that out tonight. Hopefully the laws of karma throw us bone for all the playoff heartaches of the past 40+ years! -

Aaron should have had Joe Rogan give him the plays on that final drive instead of his OC! -
Its so nice to see the Titans and Tannehill show exactly what they truly were a midling to good team but extremely lucky. When I posted this a few weeks ago, a few Titans "lovers" on this site took exception and poo pooed it, but tonight was proof as their luck finally ran out. Nice to see Vrabel finally pay the price for his dumb decisions and its nice that the Bengals weren't scared of Henry. Tomorrows game is now even bigger! if thats even possible!

Referee tendencies could lead to physical Bills vs. Chiefs game
Livinginthepast replied to HOUSE's topic in The Stadium Wall
Are the Bills too goody goody to do this? If they actually did this, the Bills can copy the Boston Bruins 2011 Stanley cup run success formula: cheat on every play all game because you know the refs are not going to call everything and cant be everywhere at once! -
Is Super Bowl victory or bust realistic?
Livinginthepast replied to CorkScrewHill's topic in The Stadium Wall
I think I have watched 43 NFL playoffs in my time and for a SB winner its always about timing. Some teams were just so dominant all of their season that they never lost their mojo all year but for others like the 1980 Oakland Raiders, The 1990 Giants (who beat us), the 2000 Ravens (with the horrendous Trent Dilfer ) and the 2001 Pats, it was all about getting hot at the right time. If we beat the Chiefs, I think we are a good bet to win it all. -
You can really go insane rethinking that game and what a huge opportunity the Bills choked away. If anything it should have resembled one of those 80s SB blowouts with the Giants getting pummeled but everything that could have gone wrong for the Bills did. That 3rd quarter where the Bills couldnt get the Giants offense off the field was the most excruciating 15 mins of football I have ever watched! The feeling after the Saturdays game was eerily similar to after the Raiders game so I totally get the OP's concern. The good news is that these Bills are a lot more dialed in and party a lot less than the 90s team. Current coaching staff is also way better prepared than Marv and the gang. Now its time for this team to play to their potential and keep it going right to the end!

Seeing him at the Cowboys game did make me wonder if there are any strict protocols in place that NFL playoff teams are doing. I would hope so, but how much is enforceable with the players of this era? During the Bills SB era, the Bills had a reputation for partying hard then playing hard as well. There were rumors that they did this the night before the first SB and maybe others too. I remember at the time always wondering if this had any effect on the disappointing performances or if it mattered at all. Marv seemed to treat them like adults and McD seems to be pretty hands off about Covid but scenes like that probably make the rest of McD's hair fall out.

Divisional Round: Buffalo at KC Sunday at 6:30
Livinginthepast replied to Process's topic in The Stadium Wall
The Bills have to neutralize Mahomes with that TB SB defense that worked so well. Smother Kelce in coverage. I dont want to see any of that cautious, uber respectful defense from Frazier that failed so miserably last year. -
The game last night was over as soon as the Pittsburgh defense mailed it in on the Kelce TD before the half. It was very similar to GB last year allowing that embarrassing long bomb TD to the Bucs (also right before halftime). Their life force and will to go on was completely drained from the entire team on that one play. I still cannot believe that a defense is that disorganized that it allowed that (even with the quality of Mahomes and Kelce) to happen. In addition, all the drops and negative running plays on offense just squandered what was a pretty respectable defensive effort to start(the fumble return td was excellent). Big Ben has been reduced to a game manager the past couple of seasons with some occasional flashes of his old brilliance so he was never going to pull a comeback especially down 14. If the Pittsburgh offense had been able to get even 1 TD in the first half that might have given them a chance. As it was the Steeler D was on the field too long and got burnt out early. We are going to have to have our sht completely together next Sunday as KC is flying high again.

All this worry at who we play next week? If you want to be the best, then beat the best ,whoever that is. We were never going to get a cheap easy SB victory as Bills fans. If they cant beat Mahomes then they dont deserve to be there. Cant beat Brady or Rodgers? then sorry you werent up to it. I would love a stress free 3 game stretch where the Bills destroy all three teams like last night but there is no way that is happening. We are going to have to earn it and have a bit of luck. Bring it on!

I was telling my 12 year old son that this is what old QBs look like as we watched Big Ben get sacked or overthrow someone. He assumes that Brady is the norm because thats all he has ever known. As much as Big Ben might still have some competitive fire, physically he cannot perform. It would take a supreme effort of the ages for him to be able to squeeze out whatever he might have left in the tank and win this game. He is running on fumes now!

Last night was purely a better offensive performance. The Pats although completely outplayed were not as hapless as the Raiders were back in 1991. The Raiders were completely inept in that game and looked like a bunch of people taking a "polar bear" swim in Lake Erie on New Years day. They literally couldn't handle the cold and couldnt wait to get to the airport and home!
