5th year option on Allen or bid on Watson in FA in 22
Mango replied to Mango's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It is a hypothetical, get over it dude. I didn't knock, Allen, Beane, or McD here. There was literally no complaint about anybody. It is a light-hearted "what if" situation that also lines up with a decision on taking the option on our (currently trending upwards) QB. I think there are MAYBE 5 teams that shouldn't be having this discussion internally if that situation comes to fruition. That number is probably closer to 3. Just to summarize, would you bid on Watson or not in this situation? -

5th year option on Allen or bid on Watson in FA in 22

If you put a gun to my head today and said re sign Josh at 25M or DW at 40M, I think I would still go DW. -
5th year option on Allen or bid on Watson in FA in 22

This is where I am at. Josh may be "the guy", but I would take Watson at 40M than Allen at 30M. It isn't necessarily a knock on Allen, there are just only a few situations in the league where this would not be a MAJOR upgrade. -
COVID had me thinking. With all the trade rumors and twitter posts about Watson in Houston, I have a gut feeling he would rather see FA than re sign there (but who knows I guess). The Texans would be foolish to not take the 5th year option. If he hits FA in 2 years, would you rather get into a bidding war and pay him $40M per (guessing 2022 value) or keep moving forward with Allen, taking his 5th year option, to an eventual extension?

Yeah, well unemployment went up by about 10M people in 14 days, with no signs of stopping. Adding that to our current unemployment rate puts at just under 10%. Those are 2008 numbers. Next week we will be at 1982 numbers. It took the country years to bounce back from those events. People are affraid of the upfront cost of logistics when the long term loss is actually much more detrimental.

Eric Reid Demanding Investigation and Revote on CBA
Mango replied to Turk71's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Dude, the women brought in about $1M more in revenue in 2018 than the Mens team. They are also at the top of their field internationally. There isn’t a special NGB for the men and another for the women. It all goes into the same pot and is managed by the same board of directors. Your point about losing to a HS team is dumb. It’s a Junior National Team camp/squad. There are dozens of sports where these camps would put together a team of HS kids that would be ranked in the top 20 in the NCAA. -

The ‘Personal social grievance’ that you keep referencing (and think should only be addressed in their own time) is people of color trying to bring light to racial inequalities and injustices. -

Being treated differently because of the color of your skin has nothing to do with income. Also Frederick Douglas ended up being pretty wealthy. So were his complaints and views no longer valid? -

Who drives more revenue to USA Soccer? The mens team or the womens team? You can only compete against who shows up. Your point that if the women want the same pay as men, they should play in the mens league is absurd. But I bet you already knew that.... They also don;t play in "totally distinct leagues" They are governed domestically by their NGB, USA Soccer, who manages the entire budget for both teams. USA Soccer then rolls up to FIFA, who manages international competition for both women and men. There is nothing distinct about these leagues. -

Also almost every America could name a women’s team athlete from the last 20 years. Mia Hamm, Rapino, Abby Wambach, Alex Morgan. Brandy Chastain, Hope Solo, Akers (forgetting first name)Carli Lloyd; Julie Ertz, etc. That’s literally off the top of my head. Literally if it wasn’t for women like that, the men would NEVER even be in a situation where the National Governing Body is basically betting against you with money that the women’s teams has generated. -

Yeah, I agree. Dance, Monkey, Dance! I definitely side with the guys who look more like me, and make waaaay more money to pay the guys all that money to just play a game....and generate Billions in revenue and profit. SO MUCH ANGER!!! -
I believe Merriman, Mitchell, and Dockery were in the Brandon and/or Levy Era. But I get the point.

I was sort of thinking the same thing. I think he should be around 5 or 6. I think the fact that he is a strong zone corner rather than playing a to of press man coverage (Gilmore, Revis, etc.) is what probably is keeping him out of the top 5 by PFF 1. Mahomes 2. Watson 3. Kittle 4. Godwin 5. Jamal Adams 6. Watt 7. Ramczyk 8. Tre I do have a hard time with a TE being that high even with how good Kittle has been. I also think they went the politically correct route by keeping Garret down. -
Unsure if you’re trying to prove a point here or just citing another good landlord. If you’re just citing another good landlord, good for him! If you’re trying to make a point. You didn’t. In your situation the other landlord gave no pass on rent to his tenants and told them they might have a place to live when this passes. Then gave a ton of money to the guys across the street for relief. But it’s a donation so he’ll get some of that back.

Disagree. Nsekhe is a decent starter but can’t stay healthy. Ford is a liability. Not bringing in somebody who can start would be an absolute gamble on either Ford taking a giant leap or Nsekhe staying healthy for 16 weeks without having to regularly be rotated in and out.

Defending Allen in "empty" this year will be brutal
Mango replied to Inigo Montoya's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It’s not common in the NFL because the sport is so American driven at a young age. But it makes a bunch of sense. Take a guy who measures off the charts physiologically and teach him the game. There aren’t a ton of examples of guys who have NEVER played the game, so athletes are sort of siloed. It’s a relatively small investment that could have a good payoff if you give him 2 years. I doubt it hurts weekly prep even the slightest. I would rather spend 140k per year on a guy with crazy high measurable (even by NFL standards) who has never played the game, then a guy who is meh physiologically (NFL standard) and hasn’t been able to sniff elite in his 15 years dedicated to the sport. Other countries do this all the time for Olympic athletes. They’ll test men/women, see if there is a sport that suits their physiology best. Some can win an Olympic medal in a single quadrennial. https://www.uksport.gov.uk/our-work/talent-id/athlete-success-stories -

You are welcome to halve it. $25M is still generational wealth gained in interest yearly. Josh Allen and Mitch Morris have donated higher percentages of their net worth than TP to help his own employees. Mark Cuban is paying his employees. Drew Brees is donating $5M. Every other NHL owner is paying their employees. Richard Bronson has announced a 15% executive pay cut and a hold on all executive bonuses. That is the standard. Pegula is not some worldly businessman in the hospitality industry. He owns a restaurant and staffs a hockey arena. He may have financial interests globally, but none of them in hospitality. It is not apples to apples, and the Hilton and Marriott are coming under fire. TP has a restaurant and an NHL arena where he employs maybe a couple hundred people. Hilton employs 170,000 people alone. As much as you want to reserve judgement for saying TP is treating his staff like popo, please refrain from saying he has done anything good other than a $1.2M tax right off rather than pay his staff because you can't prove that either.

Bills trade for Diggs - jw no discussions on a restructure
Mango replied to Reed83HOF's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
This is actually mildly concerning to me. In this day and age and the mentality of the WR position in the NFL, I am actually surprised he hasn’t mentioned his new home directly on social media. Still posts almost daily, but nothing really about being pumped to be a Bill. Maybe I am just anxious from the quarantine.
