I don't think me and you value intangibles in a QB equally.

That's where you're wrong. I was at that game sitting not far from the field. Tyrod had quit written all over him. And that was during the year we were fighting for a playoff berth Did you see Allen quit during the Colts game this year? Or how about the Bucs game? Tyrod was wired wrong. Good riddance.

I want to introduce a concept called "Raising the Baseline". Basically, there are too many variables to guarantee a championship in the NFL. It's impossible to win it every year. This isn't the NBA. So what Beane does instead is raise the baseline talent level every offseason. The "baseline level" required to win a championship is different every year. Some years you go up against 17-0 New England Patriots (the baseline is higher) and other years you go up against Rex Grossman Bears teams (the baseline is lower). Furthermore, you can't predict when an unexpected player goes on a Joe Flacco type run. Or on a more personal level, when a Black Swan level event happens like "13 seconds". So you need to start thinking in terms of 3-5 year blocks, instead of 1 year "Super Bowl or Bust". To what level do I need to raise my team's baseline so that it will be high enough to win a championship or two during this block? To use a numerical example, imagine the baseline for the next 5 Super Bowls looks like this: 8, 6, 6, 9, 7 The higher the number, the more difficult it is to win a championship that year and the lower the number, the easier it is. The average for those 5 years would be 7.2. That means that if I can get my team to a baseline level over 7.2 (in whatever way you want to quantify that in real-world terms), then I have a higher than average chance of winning a SB that year. What happened in 2021 is that the Bills were performing at an extremely high level but ran into a Chiefs team playing at a 10 out of 10 level. We showed up and played 10 out of 10 also, but it just wasn't enough. That's a good example of how some years just don't go your way. However, there's a very high probability that if the Bills play at the same level or higher next year, they will not face a team that will play at the level the Chiefs played at last year. Thus, the Bills are more likely to win the Super Bowl. So rather than cry about it and start blaming/firing people like some fans want to do (lowering the Baseline), Beane went ahead and signed Von Miller and a bunch of improved FAs and dropped the deadweight. He raised the baseline of an already high baseline team. This is opposed to a loud portion of the fanbase that unconsciously wants to destroy our baseline. Don't ask why, that's a question for their therapist. In other words, by raising that Baseline our probability for winning the SB sometime over the next 3-5 years increased even higher. This means that there is a good chance we can win a SB with Allen playing at a lesser level but our competition also playing at a lower level. This is because the rest of the team's baseline has improved. I hope this makes sense and I can draw a simple diagram that better visualizes this concept if somebody likes. But I believe this is how Beane intuitively thinks when improving this team.

I'll remember him quitting during the Saints blowout.

Anybody watch that? What a bunch of clowns. Have any of those 3 ever watched a Josh Allen regular season game in full? Good to know what casual fans in the NFL will be regurgitating this year. At least it's positive now. But good God man, the NFL coverage today. Abysmal isn't a strong enough word. Maybe parody is a good word.

Exactly. Visualize success FIRST, then you're mentally set to let it happen. Visualize failure, even after previous failure, and you will be stuck in a cycle. It was the final lesson that the 90's Bills could never solve. There's a certain subset of posters that can't say anything positive without bringing up 13 seconds or throwing a pot shot at coaching. That's the attitude that must be avoided at all costs by the franchise if they want to take the next step. The only thing we should be thinking about is raising the trophy, not lashing ourselves for past mistakes.

Small school. Small market team. Bad narrative coming out. But we're getting there. I'm sure Allen is going to be on national commercials this year. Then the "luck" will come.

I'm also in the group that believes Davis will become an elite WR2. The man just steps up when he's called upon. What stands out in my mind is that 4th down conversion against TB last year where he caught the ball behind the LOS and carried the CB past the 1st down marker with the game on the line. Incredible clutch play. To have the performance he had in the playoffs and then to follow it up by working this hard in the off-season. That's amazing character and work ethic on par with Josh Allen. Don't be stunned if Davis not only becomes an elite WR2, but eventually starts occasionally outshining an aging Diggs as time goes on, just like in KC.

I'm nitpicking here, but it's a slight insult to place Herbert on par with Allen. Like really, the QB from Los Angeles has to work less hard for accolades than the QB from Buffalo? Transparent media BS. I say it because Herbert gets way too much fawning for a guy with 2 years in the league. He should be on par with Burrow IMO, well below Allen. None of these guys at the top, with the arguable exception of Rodgers, have gone through half of Allen's adversity. They are placed in perfect situations. Brady would've retired 3 years ago if he didn't have a perfect situation to walk into. Stafford was in no-mans land for a decade before being traded to a perfect situation with the Rams. Now he's some top QB? Mahomes is going to need to prove he is still Mahomes without Tyreek and an older Kelce. As for Nick Wright, he's a narcissistic clown that would do anything for attention. No character. His opinion should be ignored, since being ignored is his worst nightmare. Same goes for Stephen A Smith and Skip Bayless. Keyshawn Johnson is just an idiot reading a script. Yeah, it's either a shtick given to him by producers (who are the puppetmasters of these talking heads) or it's a petty person desperate to not be wrong. Should be ignored regardless. They have less and less bad things to say every year as Allen achieves more and more success.

If you thought the doubters were gone...they're not.

Anybody noticing that there seems to be something exceedingly wrong about the pundits and fans that still criticize Allen? Like the first response should to their criticism should be...."Hmmm, let's talk about YOU and who hurt you." -

Look into OSINT investigation. Large percentages of crimes are beginning to be solved behind a keyboard. Lots of data sets out there to be mined by very talented people that have nothing to do with law enforcement. Google "4chan Shia Labeauf Flag" for an amazing example of how crowdsourced investigation by talented people can outperform law enforcement. "Let the pros do their job" is starting to be outdated as time goes on. -

A high profile person got hit by a dump truck on a busy freeway on foot. We're supposed to not speculate? Who is making up these rules? You? I don't remember voting you into the moral police. -

What's your point? Do you want a thread filled with nothing but condolences? Some of us prefer solving mysteries instead of acting smarter or wiser than others. -

To add to this, with his track record, a DUI would've been a career ender. -

6:30am in Fort Lauderdale. I'm starting to think alcohol was involved. Drunk driving? Car breaks down? Get out of there before the cops come. Anyone who has driven on the 95 knows how many abondoned cars there are on the road. Toxicology will tell the story but that makes the most sense to me. -

What time of morning was it? Day time? Night time? Early morning he could still be drunk or hungover and make that kind of nonsensical decision. -

I know that freeway area by the FLL airport. I have no clue why anybody would be there on foot. Not petty. Totally normal to be wary of that from a supposed leader. -
Are ACL injuries no big deal anymore? The data suggest they are
ToGoGo replied to Rubes's topic in The Stadium Wall
The first variable I would like to look at is age. NFL players don't last long regardless, so I assume there will be a natural drop-off for a 28 year old with or without an ACL injury. I'm curious how it affects a player in the 22-25 age bracket. Also, LB, RB, and DE are high contact positions. Seems to affect those who hit more than those who move fast.
