As the OP suggested, and I think you elude to, McD will probably need to lose multiple big games before he realizes this and changes his approach.

No surprise by this move. Thought it would have happened earlier this season. It's Gruden's team, for better or worse.

I think Frazier can blitz and scheme aggressively, though only when a fire has been lit under him. His default is a conservative, twenty-plus year old style of defense. I'd like to see Frazier stunt the D line to take advantage of blocking scheme and O linemen weakness in the other team; I don't recall seeing him even do this.

I support McD because he is the current Bills HC. It's still early in his tenure; his success or failure will depend on the draft, FA, and personnel decisions he makes - both players and coaches. If he holds on to certain coaches because of friendship/familiarity, that will most likely not bode well for him.

With all the attention that the D got, the unit should be better than it is. Star has been kind of 'meh' and Trent Murphy doesn't contain his lane. It also doesn't help that Leslie Frazier is running a scheme from 25 years ago where there is little pass rush, stunting, or blitzing. A weak pass rush puts too much pressure on the DBs, though overall we have a good DB squad.

No, he doesn't. DE has to be addressed in the draft.

Frasier is a conservative coach. Soft zones, only rush four, rarely blitz. Should put some heat on Darnold.

Gilmore did play under Rex's scheme, which was DB dependent and a disaster overall. Not hard to think the NE has a defensive system that makes more sense than anything Rex did. This could be part of it, but I'd still rather have Tre.

I picked the Rams in this game, though could see this as being a let down game for them; kind of like Dallas vs NO.

Maybe the statistics indicate this and maybe he only allowed 2 TDs. But how many TDs did the Bills D give up where Gilmore's play set up the opposing offense inside, or very near, the red zone? My recollection of Gilmore is that he tended to have poor ball skills which caused him to draw PI penalties down field on longer pass plays, which he'd blame the other DBs on some occasions. Coupled with the fact that Gilmore had problems tackling a runner in open field. IMO, he's not quite as good as you're giving him credit for.

Yes, but like I mentioned, Gilmore has performed much better in NE. With how he played in Buffalo, the Bills would have been crazy to give Stephon the money he got. Anyway, water under the bridge and I'm happy with Tre White who I think is a better CB than Gilmore.

But is he worth the 5 year/$65 M contract he signed? His play in Buffalo was inconsistent with some good play and other times where his ball presence was poor and generated some dumb penalties. Granted, he seemed to shape up a bit in NE.

I'm optimistic about the future with Josh Allen. At this point, I suspect he'll be at least Eli Manning level (Super Bowls aside), but probably not quite Peyton Manning level. I don't think Josh will be able to do it all himself, he'll need a supporting cast.

Good point. Keep them together. Hopefully Dawkins can start to develop into a better LT. IMO, he's okay now with plenty of room to improve. Agree on NE tackles. Just ask NYG how Solder is working out. NE doesn't let guys who they want, go.
