  1. This is a possibility, at the very least it can't be dismissed. Ben might end up retiring before the Steelers can even consider firing Tomlin. I'm not saying holding onto Tomlin is a good idea; I would have fired him if I were the Steelers' brass. He has lost control of the team and makes some very bad in game decisions.
  2. Because they don't fire HCs. When was the last time Pitt fired one? They've only had three in my lifetime - Chuck Knoll, Bill Cowher, and Mike Tomlin.
  3. I agree, Tomlin is overrated. But I doubt the Steelers fire him unless they fail to make the post-season for another 2-3 years. Plus, once Big Ben retires, they should really struggle.
  4. Have to go with the Cowboys since they're my least favorite NFC team.
  5. The Redskins line has been very injured, for the past two seasons that I can recall. The article could be right, that Callahan's practices are a bit too physical and their large bodies are not getting enough rest to recover.
  6. This is a great point. Maybe to get the retirement seed in Brady's head, someone can send him pictures of different water slides. He'll soon want to do that than play football.
  7. Probably a good chance that Kugler wanted to join Arians in TB; they worked together in Pittsburgh when Arians was OC.
  8. I don't mind Green Bay, I don't see a reason to dislike them. I don't like Dallas, and to a certain extent, Washington. If Dan Snyder sold the team, I probably would be indifferent to the 'Skins.
  9. No, I think most of us dislike Brady more. He's a thorn in our side that just won't go away...16 years of pain.
  10. I voted no. Ted was very good, but not quite dominant like a Warren Sapp or Vince Wilfork.
  11. You're thinking of Matt LeBlanc How you doin'?
  12. In a GM capacity? There is only 32 positions available and usually owners/presidents have their own guys who they want filling the GM role. I'd imagine there are many qualified people who will not be a GM for this reason alone. From what I gather, Whaley could have returned to the Steelers in a pro personnel role; he's highly thought of in Pittsburgh. Whaley now has the position of Senior VP of Personnel for the XFL, which is a higher role than GM; though, granted, it is the XFL and unknown how the league will turn out the second time around. It's his chance to be an integral part of starting something new. I wish him the best.
  13. I disagree with this. Whaley never got to be a full GM. Russ Brandon and Jim Overdorf were in the picture regarding player contracts for sure (Darius for sure), and may have had a say on certain draft picks (Sammy Watkins, for one.) I think Whaley got a bad deal here, but was the 'face' of the franchise as far as the GM position, so all the crap that originated from Russ and Overdorf is attributed to him. I'm not saying Whaley was perfect, he made mistakes, but he wasn't as bad as the anti-Whaley posters make him out to be.
  14. Nate Peterman had an awesome preseason and you know the rest of the story. I get what you're saying about bringing in other QBs, Whaley brought in Kevin Kolb (floor mat concussion) and then Kyle Orton the next year, followed by Tyrod. Marrone and Hackett did a poor job of coaching EJ; agreed. I remember Mayock saying in the 2013 draft that EJ was like a piece of clay that needed to be molded, though ended up getting molded into some odd, unidentifiable shape. Bottom line is EJ would have been maybe a 4th round pick in a decent year for QBs and Whaley had to know that. Assuming Whaley knew that, he probably should have tried again in 2014 rather than giving up too much for Sammy Watkins. I agree that Whaley and McDermott would have made a good combo. Whaley found some real diamonds in the rough on the pro personnel side. It's McD and Beane now, so I'm rooting for them to finish building the team they envision that will win.
  15. Great post. Nix backed Whaley into a corner who had no choice but to draft EJ in 2013. Whaley's downfall, IMO, was sticking with and trying to prop up EJ for too long.
  16. I find it ironic that Rex acts as if he's not a $h&%ty coach.
  17. I don't pay attention to the local media. 'Skins fans and media don't have much room to talk trash about other teams, especially since theirs is going no where with the current ownership. If reports are true, Redskin fans know this.
  18. Probably so. But anyone who admits to wanting to buy a gun and shoot a place up has mental problems.
  19. I live in the Washington, DC area, the heart of Redskins country. I am not a Redskins fan, but I don't completely hate them; I'm content they're a mediocre team so the media and local fans don't too obnoxious about them. Most 'Skins fans are ok, and I actually feel kind of bad for them since the owner, Dan Snyder, and his right hand man, Bruce Allen, are holding the team back.
  20. I'm not sure Elway will want Dennison back.
  21. This^^^ will be the key. If Rivers doesn't choke, the Chargers should have a good shot. Start off slow to set a tempo, like the did against Baltimore, who has a much better D than NE. Then get more aggressive once some momentum has been established. Of course this will help a lot, too. Stop Sony Michel and get pressure up the middle.
  22. Good question, and I'm glad I'm not Pederson or the GM. One thing to consider is that back injuries tend to lag on...they don't just go away.
  23. Wentz's rookie deal has to be about up. They can't spend as much as those two will want on the QB position.
  24. It's close but I don't think they reverse it. One point game.
