Bill, I usually enjoy reading your after game thoughts, except it seems lately you have been letting your emotions get the better of you. You question Gilmore and ask when should we expect him to produce? In only his 4th game back, 2nd game without a cast on his wrist, you are acting like he didn't miss most of the preseason and 6 games. The kid is just regaining his form after missing lots of time. Lets not forget, he kept all the plays in front of him and didn't allow Bowe to score. I couldn't care less if Bowe gets yards from dink and dunk plays, which is exactly what he was getting. Giving up 45 yards to Bowe, I would consider a pretty good day for Gilmore (67 yards total minus 22 yards where Gilmore wasn't covering). I don't understand the hate for Marrone. I feel as if you are holding him to the same standards as a veteran HC. He's been a HC for all of 9 games. He has had his team in EVERY single game. Which is more than you can say about any of the other rookie HC's. The team has been crippled at times by injuries, especially at the most important position QB. I just can't agree with you on your assessment.

This. What is the point of a thread like this? The Jest were 4-4 last week after getting their jocks handed to them by the Bengals 49-6. Geno threw 2 pick-6's. Why not start a thread like this last week? The Jest are 5-4 inspite of Geno.

Hackett should not be O.C. and Q.B. coach

His number of throws is inflated a bit. After the Bills fell behind in the fourth, after the fumble/TD, they had to play catch up. He threw it 16 times after that point. Which, if the game didn't get out of hand like that, I'm sure wouldn't of happen. And previous to that point, he wasn't being asked to carry the team. But when a team falls behind, a team unfortunately has to go to the air. If you were watching the game the commentators even commented in the 3rd quarter how run heavy the Bills were, in comparison to the Chiefs. -

You're saying having a rookie QB throw in a TD situation is not ok, but letting him air it out 4 times is? -

I wasn't talking about the actual pass... But the play. Saying "yea go for it here and go big but when it's goal line you shouldn't and we don't trust you" But throwing 4 deep balls is ok? -

So it's ok for him to make a deep pass for a TD (the Goodwin one) but we shouldn't ask him to make a read like at the goal line? -

Stevie was wide open. It was the right call, Tuel read it wrong. -

Cincinnati game? -
I don't know if he should be released, but art his point I don't think he is ready to be on the active roster. He should have been on the practice squad from day 1.

Official Bills v Chiefs first half thread

Sure, but who's Gilmour -
Exactly. He doesn't break stories.

I think he is simply guessing at this point. Chris Brown has no idea... I still think he will be back next week. Joe B seems to think he looks good in pre game warm ups today. Another over reaction if you ask me.

I expect to see a lot of the running game this week a la the Baltimore game. I don't have much faith in Tuel to carry the team. Yes, he looked good in 2 qtrs of preseason, against guys who aren't in the NFL anymore. But he's shown nothing since to lad me to believe anything at all. With that said, I'm behind him and if he can manage the game, the Bills still have a chance to win.

I agree and thought as much hearing he was going to be looked at the begining of this week.

Bills sign another to the 53 man roster

Pro Football Focus @PFF 1h Bills new signing Stefan Charles played 68 preseason snaps for Titans. 10.8% of run defense snaps saw him make defensive stop. -
Adolescence and the pursuit of boobies

A good friend of mine growing up, used to get his "fix" by ordering those softcore movies off of Time Warner back in the 90's. Weird thing was, it was obviously would show up on his parents bill. To deal with this, he would watch whatever he ordered and immediately call his mother afterword explaining how he was watching TV and this porn just mysteriously came on. His mom would then call Time Warner and they would have it removed from the bill. And he did this multiple times! How his mom or Time Warner never questioned it, I'll never know. I on the other hand had a old school sattelite dishe growing up. The ones with the huge dishes that moved as you changed satellite. It was easy enough to find the right stations. -
Robbey being an underrated steal, as you stated, doesn't mean he is without his flaws. I don't think you'll find any analysis that says ALL of our CB's or secondary are playing "shutdown". That would certainly explain why yards and TD's are being given up. Add to that the secondary isn't the only part of the defense covering people. The LB's are covering players as well. As far as Gilmore being "vastly overrated", its pretty hard to argue with his abilities/skills if he is giving up 0 yards. Only 1 other player did that last week, Darrelle Revis. So, I'd say Gilmore is in pretty good company and certainly not overrated. Sure, maybe he wasn't thrown at a lot and he could have had 1 PI penalty but his abilities and coverage skill are what contributed to not being thrown at. Lets not forget, he also is still coming back from an injury.

@JayGlazer: Contrary to what is out there Seattle is NOT one of the teams in it for Jared Allen. Two others but Seattle is not talking to Vikes for him @AdamSchefter: Seahawks not expected to trade for Vikings DE Jared Allen now. One source said the Seahawks have decided to not actively pursue him. Wonder who the 2 teams are... Pats* one of them with all of their defense injuries?

I have to question why there wasn't safety support rolled over to that side on that Hughes play. And that safety would have been Byrd. -
I agree with this. This is almost like if EJ was sitting for a bit to learn the game as QB's used to do. I know its very popular to throw your rookie QB in the game and see what he has, but some QB's benefit from sitting first and that approach shouldn't ever be overlooked.
-
Again, if EJ is medically cleared to play next week, why shouldn't he play? You just said RG III wasn't medically cleared... That explains everything. That was Shanahan being a complete moron.

It could be very close to Matt Flynn time

I think it's closer to EJ time than it is to Flynn time
