  1. I bought one as well. I don't think Fitz is a franchise QB, but assuming he doesn't royally screw the pooch, I think he's the kind of player fans will look back on fondly years from now. Like, "Hey, remember that dude with the beard? Went to Harvard of all places, loved to chuck the ball around? Wasn't really an HoFer, but was still fun to watch? That guy was awesome."
  2. Niners are still at the Stick. Giants play in the new Pac Bell park or whatever it's called now.
  3. I'm pretty sure Oakland still does too. It's gotta hurt to get tackled on infield dirt.
  4. Shame about Elzy. I work for UNC and was happy to see the Bills sign like 4 Heels this offseason. Is Pianalto still on the roster?
  5. Lol, I was just saying the same thing. It's obviousy preseason for the announcers too.
  6. It is what anyone with good PR/media training does. If a reporter is dumb enough to ask a closed-ended, yes/no type question on a touchy subject, you answer yes/no and move on.
  7. Was going to say exactly this. Plus, Thigpen barely had a week of practice with a new team and new system.
  8. My wife was a special ed teacher back in 1999-2000 or so, when training camp at Fisher was still a new thing. They took the class on a field trip to camp one day. Now this was a group of about a dozen kids, all of whom had some pretty serious issues, profoundly mentally and physically disabled. This was back in the Flutie days. Anyway, they had the class there, and after practice, Flutie took time to visit, talk, sign autographs and take pictures with each and every one of those kids even though it was a super-hot summer afternoon. The kids, parents, teachers, everyone, was pretty thrilled. My wife said he couldn't have been a nicer guy and was just so great with the kids. His son has autism, so obviously disabled kids are pretty close to his heart, but he just went above and beyond that day. Also, funny side note, my wife is all of five feet tall, so everyone of "average" height and above looks pretty tall from her perspective. But still, she was surprised by how short Flutie was.
  9. I love getting the reports from down here in Chapel Hill, especially since the Bills keep picking up Tar Heels like they're going out of style!
  10. Because he was in the middle of negotiations and didn't want to give up any leverage.
  11. Easy enough for you to say from behind a keyboard, but that's the wrong way of looking at it. It's like a flyball pitcher not wanting to pitch for the Rockies. You go where your talents are best suited. I, for one, wish him nothing but the best.
  12. I don't think anyone told the media anything. IIRC, it was a Chicago reporter who pieced it together by identifying owners' private planes landing at O'Hare.
  13. I'm pretty sure they're just clearing inventory for the new jerseys that are coming soon. On one of the pages they advertise a Dareus jersey, royal blue, that will ship in "4-6 weeks." Anyone know when that event is that they're supposed to unveil the new unis?
  14. I think we should just nickname him "Tiny." If his knees hold up, I don't see how he couldn't be a force on the field. Also, re: kicker.. Wasn't Ndamukong Suh also a kicker at one point? And didn't the lions have him kick an xp or something last year?
  15. It's like a two hour drive from Buffalo. Whether driving or flying, it's not that much different to get up there from Philly.
  16. ...and Mike Schmidt. I actually like Philly a lot, as a city. But their sports fans are complete botards.
  17. At least Ralph looks pretty good for being so old, not a gotdamn cryptkeeper like Al Davis.
  18. I've always liked the Niners, going back to the Montana days, since I come from a big Notre Dame family. Plus, they were the favorite team of Hunter S. Thompson, my favorite writer. Obviously we all want the Bills to return to relevance, but I kinda hope to see the Niners make a similar turnaround.
  19. Yeah, I lived in Boston for a few years, and it is a NIGHTMARE getting in and out of Fawxboragh. Personally, though, it's the playoffs, there's still a chance to win, I wouldn't be going ANYwhere. But, those front-running d-bags drained that stadium like a sewer. Good riddance, chowdah heads.
  20. Not as cool as most stories, but I get a kick out of it: A good friend of mine here at work, he worked for one of the big trading card companies back in the late 80s/early 90s. He got to go to the 1991 Pro Bowl and spent a good amount of time with Jim Kelly, apparently he had some kind of promotional deal with my friend's company. Anyway, Jimbo gave my buddy the ugly-ass neon green Pro Bowl cap he received in his schwag bag. My buddy, a Giants fan (ugh), in turn gave it to me because he thought I would enjoy it more. So it sits here on my shelf at work. Not autographed or anything, but I still think it's pretty cool.
  21. It's not P.Bch, but it looks like there's a Bills Backers bar in Boynton Beach. Check out the locater map: http://www.buffalobills.com/fans/billsbackers/backer-locator-map.html
  22. I ran from the living room to the kitchen, hands on my head, trying to suppress my howling of "NOOOOOO" trying to not scare my five-month old son.
  23. How certain are we Luck WILL declare for the draft?
  24. In all the national media I've read and heard, it sure seems the Bills HAVEN'T been mentioned as a likely candidate for relocation to LA. The Chargers, Vikings and Jags seem to be the most consistently mentioned. I think it is recognized that the Bills' fan base is too rabid. We're sort of like the Cubs in that way, I guess.
