  1. I'm not even that much of a football expert, but within a few moments of giving up that safety, I thought about it and knew it was the right call. 4th and 10 on your goal line is suicide. It's a "close" game, you can't punt, you give up the two points, get better field position and put it on your defense to get the ball back. Which they did. But our O is too crappy to take advantage.
  2. Jim Kelly is a direct connection to this franchise's best years (so far), and he chooses to make his home in WNY when he could afford to live anywhere in the world. Paid or not, official or not, he's earned the right to have a strong presence and I'm glad he does.
  3. Big time corporate sports radio is less about actual analysis and more about riling people up and getting them talking. Mike and Mike's advertisers and producers are much happier if you're pissed off and talking about them instead of quietly agreeing or saying "meh." The game is won and lost on the field. The rest is BS. There's football this weekend, friends. Let's all crack open a cold one, eat something unhealthy and enjoy.
  4. Exactly. Whether he digs on my teams or not, I enjoyed Simmons' columns for many years. Eventually I started to notice the same recurring themes in his writing and realized he's got no new ideas. Good for him, though, I'd love to be in his position - build a solid career based on what was once "fresh," get paid and then just coast for the rest of your life. I'd trade places with him in an instant.
  5. Not exactly a "slam." Just the ugly truth.
  6. I would do my absolute best to be there. F the cost, that's what credit cards are for.
  7. I was thinking that, too, but I guess this is the Redskins' team broadcast. So it's understandable. I wish we could switch to the Bills broadcast team instead.
  8. Across the street? I guess that depends on if it's cheaper to build a new stadium across the street, or just re-route the current street.
  9. Of course they're not making any effort to look at us. Media are the reflector, not the director of what we, as a nation, think. Based on past performance, most of the country doesn't think much of us, and thus sports media don't either. But screw 'em. The game is played on the field and we'll either show them all, or we won't. But media "wizards" are just jockeying for advertising dollars. It's a new season, friends, and there's Bills football on tonight. So let's all crack open a cold one, sit back, and enjoy some football, no matter the outcome or what some jerks in NYC/LA think of us.
  10. DVOA? AGL? WTFBBQ? Sounds like some nerd trying to bring baseball-type statistical analysis to football, which just doesn't work (and I'm a baseball fan). Over a 162-game season, you get a much more reliable data set than a 16 game season. The game's played on grass, any given Sunday, yadda, yadda. This guy is just looking for reasons to just blast the Bills, but he's clearly obsessive enough to put more effort into it than I'm willing to put into refuting him.
  11. Good thoughts. I've said before, we're not the Lions for god's sake. We have some serious talent, and are just a pleasant surprise or two away from making a run at the post-season. Media wizards may predict we'll be in the toilet, but that's based more on past performance. The game is played on the field, not on paper. Every year there are teams that seemingly come out of nowhere to make the playoffs. There's no reason to believe we won't be one of those teams very soon.
  12. This stood out to me... Wood played center in college, right? Has there been any real talk of him eventually moving over there? He certainly seems to have the right personality for center, intelligent, quick on his feet, leader-like.
  13. The kid seems to have a good head on his shoulders. Maybe that influenced Chan and Buddy's picking him. Also, I like how the video interview with him took place right on the canal in Pittsford, very close to where I grew up.
  14. THAT'S IT, STICK A FORK, WE'RE THREW! FIRE CHAN! /sarcasm
  15. That's one of the best, most honest assessments of this team I've read. I like how he acknowledged that the Bills are not completely lacking in talent and have a decent defense to build off of. Everything else in the national press seems to be "BuffaLOL... At least they'll get a good draft pick LOLOLOL!!1!" For god's sake, we're not the Lions. There's some talent on this team. We just need to figure a few things out, and we're not far from putting it all together.
  16. I would love to drive up from NC, but with a newborn baby, I'm not going to any games this year. I'm lucky the wife let me keep Sunday Ticket. I'm also glad the Bills' year in the NFC South was last year, so it let me go to the Panthers and Falcons games, likely the only ones I'll get to for a while. Good luck, though. I'm sure you'll have no problem offloading the pass.
  17. Can't argue with that. You have bested me, sir.
  18. Citation needed.
  19. That's exactly what I'm thinking. These dudes are all hyper-competitive, monster-sized pro athletes. Hangartner throwing Maybin to the ground is probably equivalent to a regular dude like me putting a buddy in a headlock and giving him a noogie. Also, I bet the O vs. D thing is part of it as well.
  20. Add me to the re-up Sunday Ticket crowd. It sounds like everyone calling to negotiate/complain is getting roughly the same deal, $120 off, split a number of ways: $20/6 months, $10/12 months, etc. That makes me think DTV is ready for it, has crafted the call center scripts, and given customer service reps the freedom to make the deal. Not that I'm complaining. $120 is $120. It helped me justify getting Sunday Ticket again to my wife even though we have a newborn baby at home and are scaling back on luxuries BIG time.
  21. THAT'S IT, I'm sick of the Gailey regime and this "pads at practice" philosophy! Clearly it's leading to serious injuries and destroying this team! We need a Player's Coach like Dick Jauron in here PRONTO. /sarcasm
  22. I would argue that any improvement in the OL would automatically mean improvement at QB. I'm no Trent fanboy, but I'd like to see what he could do with a few extra seconds to remain upright.
  23. Yeah, I am. This is a positive step. Whether it pays dividends this year, next, or the year after, at least it's a step in what most would agree is the right direction.
  24. It sounds like the guy, as owner of the negatives, will profit from any sale of prints of those negatives. You see people with high quality Ansel Adams posters in their offices/homes all the time, the kind you buy from museum gift shops. So I think that's where the money will come from. A pretty nice return on his investment... I like the guy's quote at the end about not having talked to the guy who sold him the prints, because he may come looking for him.
  25. I agree 100%. I would rather he sign on the dotted line first before I get my hopes up.
