    Shame. Was a good idea for the Bills to give it a shot, though. Similar to the Merriman experiment.

    If Orton had a full offseason to learn the offense, I'd be open to the idea of him starting. But as of right now, EJ is the best we have for this offense, simply due to familiarity.

    I always have a hard time giving FO/coaching credit as long as our record remains poor. So, hopefully we crack .500 this year, I guess.

    I'm comfortable with *him*. I'm not confident he'll develop with our OL and coaching staff. Which is a damned shame. On another team, I think he'd develop into a pro bowler. On this team, I suspect he'll be replaced in a year or two.

    The kid can play as a depth player for someone. He'll find a team.

    Good post. I *want* and hope that we give him three seasons before giving up. It's rare that a QB lights it up before then.

    Considering all three know this may be their last season* unless they produce a successful team, it wouldn't be surprising to see frustrations come to the surface. (* please note, I'm not saying it will be their last season, or even that it should be... but with a new owner coming in, and our 14 year drought, they gotta be nervous)

    I personally think the starters don't play enough in pre-season. First couple weeks in the NFL often look kinda sloppy to me.

    Are there any punters in the league that do kickoffs as well? Seems like a natural fit from an ignorant fan's perspective...

    I like when he uses his athleticism... he just needs to have unnecessary hits* coached out of him, which is relatively easy to do. For whatever reason we seem to be content with just making him a pocket passer, though... which is ignoring some of his strengths, imo. * - Sometimes he lowers his shoulder/dives instead of taking a baseball slide.

    I think the only thing holding us back is our OC... if we had a solid OC that could design plays to our strengths, things would turn around quickly. Second is EJ and the OL, but I think part of their deficiencies come back to the coaching, as well.

    Nothing surprising... sucks for Hopkins, I thought he was good enough to be on a roster, but Carpenter came in while he was injured and has been damned solid.
