The lack of defensive playmakers over the life of the regime is so glaring that it cannot be written off as the result of drafting late.

Terry believes he has a legacy leadership team in place. Don't expect anything to happen in the regular season. If we fail to get as far as last year I expect some kind of change without firing Beane and Clappy. I think Beane's entire scouting regime needs an audit. I expect significant change here. Any coordinator changes will have to come from a performance based motivation or from Josh's urging. Personally, i am still astounded that we have drafted no impact players on defense in the entire Pegula era.

As dismal a showing as that was, it's too early to dismantle everything. Was it 2023 when we flirted with .500 and Clappy engineered a nearly ten game win streak that put us at twelve or thirteen wins on the season? We've been here before. As the greedy NFL adds more games they each become less meaningful. Did anyone think we were going 17 - 0? We're still ahead of rivals KC, Baltimore and Cincinnati.

This is a finesse/speed team built for turf that can't get to the QB. We have not had a dominating defender in the Beane era. When you hit on your QB it masks other shortcomings. But who would make a change when you're this close? A friend told me there are no blue chip pass rushers on teams with franchise QBS on veteran contracts. You can feel the Chiefs fading away. The Ravens are imploding and Burrow can't stay healthy. It's now or never.
