  3. I see what I did here. You're right. Let me restate my case. IIRC Fred was gaining about 4 yards a carry late in the game. Again as I recall the first 2 downs were runs making it 3rd and 2 or maybe 3. Each of those runs came with about 20 - 25 seconds left on the play clock. Had we let the clock work down on each of the first 2 downs that would have been at least another 40 seconds. The 3rd down incomplete pass stopped the clock. Another run - even if it came up short - would have worked another 20 - 25 seconds off the clock. Best case scenario, first down. Next best, we bleed off another minute off the clock, then punt. Worst case, they have to burn some timeouts, but with the same amount of time left. I think one minute less, or no timeouts changes the dynamics. One more thing for the good of the order. Spillers fumble and our fumble return for the TD are a wash. Stuff happens.
  4. Is the reluctance to come out of the 'hurry up' offense under play calling? I consider them separate, and for me THAT was a major contribution. Same plays called, but with only 2 seconds left on the play clock and I think we have a different outcome. After that, the drop, and penalties.
  5. I've too have been hoping that EJ is secretly preparing for the NE game. That it's all been a misdirection or a shell game. But then I remember what I was thinking when Shanahan rushed RGIII back on a bum knee. That was irresponsible on their part. Why foolishly risk the franchise on one game. Can you imagine the outcry if a first year coach and a first year GM ruin their first round pick for the year. I just wish it wasn't NE. I am tired of being their B word.
  6. Promo the Robot asked the question a week or two ago; "How will this defense perform when someone schemes against it?" Shanahan clearly schemed for this game. He saw what happened in the Minnesota game and was not going to be embarrassed at home. He's taken too much heat for the RG3 thing already. I did see blitzes. I saw pressure from the defensive right get picked up, and balls thrown over the top. Corners were playing off coverage. That made no sense.
  7. Thanks Astro. Love reading your posts. What acrimony? He did after all earn a 6.9 mill salary. If he was not happy, why sign with 2 weeks left in the preseason? Couldn't he have signed later to show his displeasure?
  8. I live in Rochester and have Directv. Did anyone else have picture problems yesterday? The 2nd quarter was mostly unwatchable. Channel 13 was the only station affected.

  10. It was Pat Kirwan on Sirius XM (Moving the Chains) that made that comment when they visited Bills camp. He followed up that statement by saying how "thick" he was in the body. That statement made me think of TO, not Moss. I just cannot see any team investing the time or the money on this guy. What quarterback can survive being out of football for 3 years? Where are his practice reps coming from? A rookie coach in Chicago is going to spend his time on the starter, not the 3rd or 4th qb on the depth chart. He had his chance. Sorry. But that is life. With all sincerity, Ccngrats on losing the weight though.

  15. There really is a different feel to this team. I admit there are a lot many brand new parts: first time NFL head coach, first time NFL OC & DC, rookie QB. I think that's the thing I like. No retreads.
