  1. I think I finally found a Raiders fan I can respect. Nice job Chronic.
  2. Can I just say, as of right now (5 PM Sunday)--- we are in first place baby!!!! When was the last time you read those words???
  3. +1 Got the Kirwan book for fathers day. Read it twice. A nice vacation summer read.
  4. NGU, there has been a lot of speculation on this board as to who you really are. No one has questioned your ability to provide inside information. But if you are who we think you are; someday you will play an important roll in the organization. That being said, this is not how you run a first class organization. If you are well connected as you seem to be, and have issues with JW, this is not the right place for that forum.
  5. +1 This is uncomfortable. Two of my favorite posters are now going at it. Keep writing JW. I greatly appreciate you taking the time to post on this board. But how can anyone know for sure that a reporter doesn't have meaningful conversations with someone in an organization. That's a reporters job. I would expect him to.
  6. Players should get paid not for what they have done -- but for what they are anticipated to do. Kyle got a big payday because we anticipate he will only get better for the next few years. Same could or should be said about Stevie and maybe Fitz. Consider the number of RBs that have changed teams just before they hit 30. (It killed me to see Thurman as a 'fin. But what did he contribute to that team?) RB is the one position that has a very short shelf life. I really like Fred. But no-one put a gun to his head and forced him to sign his last contract extension. You think he ever thought he'd see that much money coming out of Coe College?
  7. Again, we share a lot in common here. I don't expect any sporting event to be a Chuck_E_Cheese. And I know you have stated you're against the fighting, etc. But for your second answer, where did we (all) go wrong then? If we are trying to teach "how to socialize with one another in the stands", how do we explain our hypocrisy from one event to another. How can we enjoy a family atmosphere on Saturday, but feel the need to act poorly on Sunday? Why doesn't everything you say about a HS game apply to any pro game? I think if I went to a game with my daughter, I'd be fine with you sitting near me. I also think your principal taught you more than you realize. (And yeah, Cox was ... well... aptly named.)
  8. I think we share some common ground. Two questions though: Where does a person's right to blow off steam interfere with my right to bring my child to see a sporting event? And, why the distinction between a HS game and a pro game? Why is blowing off steam acceptable in one case, but not the other?
  9. I have an (under 10) daughter. I won't take her to a game for similar reasons others have posted. But why should a sporting event be a reason to blow off steam? Fan behavior seems to sliding into the abyss. No one is proud of the behavior of baseball fans in California. And that's BASEBALL for gods sake. I think it should be fan friendly. Not like going to church. But similar behavior to a high school football game. Enjoy the game, bond with your kids, and please drive home safely.
  10. Buffalo is such a mess I think we have to over pay to get a decent FA to sign. That's the problem we run into. To attract high value FA -- at a reasonable price -- there has to be the expectation of organizational success. Right now, we cant say that.
  11. Funny. But there really should be an "all of the above".
  12. Every year during training camp I come away thinking either: (a) Our offense is going to be awesome, Or, (b) Our defense is going to be awesome. I have been been consistently wrong every year. This year I came away wondering, "Is our defense really THAT good, or does our offense suck that badly." That offensive line is thin on talent. After watching a few practices, my eyeballs told me the O-line second stringers were getting constantly bull-rushed by the first, second and third string D-line. The D-linemen were consistently winning the one on one battles. That does not bode well for this team.
  13. I think you're dead on. The offense that has been on display at camp has been short quick passes. From what I saw at camp - granted I only went a few times - the vast majority of passes attempted were UNDER 10 yards (prior to the catch).
  14. No photo, but he had the skinniest hips I have ever seen for a D-lineman/OLB. Not a good enough frame for a TE either. Not fast/quick enough for a WR or safety either. If he makes the Jets squad, for home games he's going to look like a string bean. Two more things, if he can lose 10 pounds in 2 days, I'll take what he had. And by the way, with all the aerobic activity training camp requires, there is NO WAY he can GAIN muscle mass. Unless of course takes the field carrying groceries.
  15. There was a run play late in the 3rd quarter - White took the hand off, and was met by the entire Chicago front 4. I watched the play several times (on the dvr). Our entire O line - all 5 of them - whiffed on their blocks. Two linemen missed badly on cut blocks, another went to block a linebacker, but the backer sidestepped him, the right tackle completely missed sealing the end, and the center barely put a hand on the tackle. I hope none of the starters gets hurt. To call that group "journey-men" is a disservice to journey-men everywhere.
  16. He was in the game a few snaps before the announcers noticed. He had decent push, and did occupy 2 blockers for the first few snaps. But he got gassed fast. By the end, he was on skates. Unless he can improve his endurance, he's only good for short yardage packages. But that can be useful too.
  17. With the ongoing lockout, it is a bad year for any veteran quarterback to change (or rookie to join) a team. No OTAs, no meeting with the coaching staff. No thanks.
  18. I liked the part where this young kid, who just got picked #3, moved around the table, (helped Ralph get up) and greeted a 90 something man. Mrs. Dareus, you raised him right. I can't help but root for this guy.
  19. My draft rag has him running a 4.64 Sounds good for an inside backer. Also, if the Bills coaching staff worked with him for a week at the Senior Bowl -- they know EXACTLY what they are getting. Maybe, just maybe, another guy might be marginally more talented. But here's a guy the Bills staff KNOWS. Talent being relatively equal, take the guy that offers the better KNOWN value.
  20. I haven't seen this posted yet. I have often wondered what would happen if the "average Joe" lined up against a guy like Marcell Dareus. I think I'll stick to my day job. http://espn.go.com/video/clip?id=6402899
  21. Is it me or just when the Bills are about to pick, ESPN goes to commercial.... Hmmmmm...
