  1. Robert Woods was banged up a lot in college. I think he had recurring ankle problems- nothing major IIRC, but apparently enough to question his durability against NFL caliber defenses.
  2. Just to play devil's advocate; Spiller will be 29 in 2016 when his deal is up. Do we/the Bills want to re-sign a player who will likely be past his prime for the majority of that contact extension? I love Spiller and he might even be my favorite Bill right now. But if I'm Whaley, I'm drafting an RB in the first few rounds each of the next few years in hopes that the prospect of letting Spiller walk wouldn't be devastating to the future of the team.
  3. I just hope he doesn't hurt anyone when the pads go on.
  4. I don't know what the end result of the court proceedings will be, but it is certainly illegal to record a phone call in the manner that these guys (allegedly) did. They may cop a plea or ultimately be found not guilty because I'm not sure what they burden of proof is here, but it does seem pretty open and shut. If they didn't do it- how did they get ahold of the recording? I agree that because of the relatively high profile of this incident that the powers that be will try to set an example. Copping a plea seems likely as they can argue there was no malicious intent, and it would be hard to prove there were any damages as a result.
  5. Seriously, I yawned reading the thread title.
  6. How many games the Bills will lose. The Bills draft position. The Russ Brandon driven conspiracy to blah blah blah nm I give up.
  7. Here's the video roundup http://www.buffalobills.com/media-center/videos/Bills-Roundup-Woods-Signs-Monday-Highlights/15673405-5632-4173-be25-2a8819fb4ec9
  8. Mods- has someone hacked PTR's account? I was under the impression he was a pollyanna obsessed with attacking the "realistic" posters!
  9. Predictable doesn't equal simple and vice versa. I don't know much about FSU's offense, but I'm guessing based on EJ's comments, that there were multiple progressions and adjustments to be made on a given play, based on the defensive formation/personnel. For example, play #1 called in the huddle is ran a number of different ways. If D is showing man and two deep safeties, he looks at receiver X first, then Z, then Y. If zone, then Y, then X, then Z. Then the WRs may be expected to adjust routes based on the same variables. Now we're getting complex, even if it is a one or two read offense, since those one or two reads are going to vary significantly snap to snap, even when the same play is called. OTOH, it sounds like Hackett is teaching: When we call play #1, the progression is always X, then Y, then Z. The WR is going to run the same route, so EJ doesn't have to worry that the WR remembers his "hot" route or make any adjustments at the line based on the defense. You can run 15 different plays out of a number of formations that are "simple" in design without being predictable. Even 15 different plays that can be run or pass, short or deep, etc., can be unpredictable. Heck, you can put one formation out there where you can run, pass, or play action pass without tipping off the defense. Meanwhile, Wanny basically ran three different plays the entire year, without disguising what they were doing at all. To compare Wanny's D to an offensive scheme would be like lining up in a heavy TE set and running to the strong side EVERY time, without sprinkling in a counter, much less a play action pass.
  10. My mistake- I didn't mean "Ejections" in the official sense, as in someone is forced to leave by security. Rather the scenario that I see all the time is a security guy and/or state police and/or county sherriff "suggest" that a fan (or group of fans) get lost, and then kind of following them toward the exit, to make sure they "choose" to leave. Maybe I'm splitting hairs, but it's basically the difference between asking someone to leave and then ushering them to the gate vs making someone leave and physically escorting them to the gate. I've see plenty of both, but I imagine one scenario is documented and the other isn't. My seasons are in the Rockpile, so I probably see more of this than the average stadium goer. And yeah, I just used that poor guy as an example, but the point I was trying to make rings true with what you say. People that are ejected should probably be detained in the first place so they don't go on to cause additional problems like the ones you mentioned.
  11. Seriously, this guy is going by a pamphlet on "business correspondence" circa 1970. He's probably submitting his posts by a tele-facsimile apparatus.

  13. You're right and I'm wondering if mrags's source is including ejections in his estimation. Because I've seen over a dozen people ejected at once. Those of you who regularly go to games must see security escorting people away all game long. I wouldn't be surprised if I heard that over 1,000 are ejected each week. Countless times over the time I've been a season ticket holder, I've heard security say things along the lines of "If you don't leave willingly right now, you'll be arrested." While it may not be the most responsible thing to do, if the stadium is understaffed by security, the most practical thing may be for the security to simply send unruly fans on their way. It seems only the most egregious violators, or those that refuse to leave are the ones who wind up getting booked. I think the hiring of more security is directly correlated to the death of a fan who was ejected, who probably should've been arrested or otherwise dealt with by law enforcement (or perhaps received medical attention), rather than just sent away to fend for himself in an extremely inebriated (incapacitated?) state.
  14. "A little bit. You know, I was definitely focusing more on football, but it's good to get it done." I assume that was an answer to a question like, "Was getting your contract signed weighing on your mind?"
  15. Actually, OTAs ended today, so he's not there either. Dareus is off to DC to get ready for this (Warning- NSFW): http://instagram.com/p/ZTu1yBKz-7/
  16. Oh, really? How much are the Bills paying Marrone?
  17. Pretty good rapper. I saw him at Broadway Joes in the late 90s/ early 00s http://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=yak+ballz+&oq=yak+ballz+&gs_l=youtube.3..0l10.67066.67066.0.67335.1.1.0.0.0.0.83.83.1.1.0...0.0...1ac.1.11.youtube.AsJ3zeQpkKA
  18. Yes, they both where there in April: Although in attendance on Wednesday, Manny Lawson was not at the third day of workouts. Jairus Byrd, who has still yet to sign his franchise tag, was not in attendance for any of the three days. On defense when the Bills went in to 3-4 looks, Marcell Dareus played nose tackle a majority of the time. Alan Branch and Alex Carrington played the ends beside him, while Mario Williams was an outside linebacker. http://www.wgr550.co...tentId=12833414
  19. IIRC, they were both in attendance at the OTAs in April. I think you're right that it's probably due to some other commitments, and definitely not simply laziness.
  20. Agreed- good point! Although I'm thinking, or at least hoping, that the staff does have confidence in Manuel. Yes, there will be a competition, but I think it's Manuel's job to lose.
  21. Actually, I agree. Like I said upthread I wanted to have something controversial to keep the discussion going. I'll have him on the next one. -- One other thing I wanted to ask: Since it's likely there will be some additional roster moves before the cut down to 53- are there any players or positions you guys think the Bills will add and subsequently take a spot on the final 53? /shameless bump now that everyone's on to discuss Buddy and OTAs.
  22. Thanks for all the input! v. 2 will have Kolb on the roster. So do I cut Tarvaris or Tuel, or keep all 4? I'm leaning towards cutting Tuel. A few of you have said they won't keep 2 FBs. I'm not going to look it up now, but I'm fairly certain that Marrone said they will have a traditional blocking FB on the roster. Dickerson isn't really an FB, but I just threw him there instead of at TE. I see Kirby has Gaskins over Summers. Anyone else agree? Either way you slice it, if we decide 5 TEs/FBs is too many, and I make a cut there, where do I add a player? So far I've seen WR and LB as suggestions. Personally, I think I'd add a DB if I were cutting somewhere else (you can never have too many, lol). If it get some more input today, maybe I'll change it tonight. Most likely, I'll wait until Monday night and we can take it from there. Thanks again for the feedback!
  23. Anderson confirms my suspicion and talks about the multiple roles he'll be playing 5-9 mins in- he and others will be playing all over. "DE or OLB?" "Call me a player," @ 8:40 lol! I put Dareus at NT and Branch at DE bc that's how they lined up during the OTAs in April ( http://www.wgr550.com/pages/16084776.php?contentType=4&contentId=12833414 ). Again, I think the entire front 7 guys will be playing all over, so I didn't put too much thought into nailing down the positions. And really, same goes for the DBs. I expect Gilmore and McKelvin on the outside, but everyone else's spots will vary by formation.
