  1. SCENARIO A: 1. WR Dwayne Jarrett------------Arguably the best WR opposite Evans would keep Defenses wide, make room for Willis 2. MLB Anthony Waters----------SEC leading tackler tore ACL and will fall to 2nd Round. 6-2, 240 4.55 3. DT Jay Alford (Penn State) SCENARIO B: 1. DT Amobi Okoye (Louisville)--------A Run stopping DT. You may argue that we drafted him last year. 2. WR Robert Meachem (Tennessee)--Nice WR to pick up at pick #44. 3. DE Tim Crowder (Texas) SCENARIO C: 1. MLB Trade down a bit and get Ole Miss' Patrick Willis. Instincts, quickness, power and toughness. Perfect Tampa 2 MLB. 2. OT Justin Blalock (Texas) – We won’t be getting a MikeWilliams again. 3. Trade Down, take: 4. OG Ben Grubbs (Auburn) and ST C.J. Gaddis (Clemson)- Versatile player who came to Clemson as a quarterback, then moved to defense, where he served as a starting safety in five games last year; now starting cornerback...considered by many to be the top all-around athlete on the team, just needs experience to become a top-echelon player on defense...has seen time as a kick returner in his career; he had two kickoff returns for 27 yards in 2005, both against Maryland...had a blocked punt in each of the last two years, including one against Florida State in 2004 and one against Temple in 2005...has played in 23 games over the last two years, including five as a starter...has not missed a game in his first two years..
  2. Sidney Rice ought to go late 1st Round and do well. Only 2 players have broken the 1000 yard mark, and Rice did it twice. The other Gamecock to do it is Sterling Sharpe.
  3. Here is an excellent discussion of Trannon for those who don't know him. He IS the all time MSU receiver, over Rison, Mason, Muhammed, Hawkins, Ingram, Burress, and Charles Rogers. He averaged 37 catches a year over 4 years, and some question his native talent vis a vis the MSU system.
  4. A lot of Wallers were high on the Eagles' draft class at the time: Brodrick Bunkley--Patterson and Bunkley will be outstanding together in the middle there for years. Winston Justice--Runyan and Thomas weren't getting any younger. Chris Gocong--A Tweener LB-DE guy. Max Jean-Gilles--Many had him as our 2nd Rounder at OG. Jeremy Bloom (KR) and LB Omar Gaither I would still take our draft class as a whole.
  5. I think he's a Dwayne Jarrett away from the Pro Bowl. Bring in a bona fide #2 WR, and Evans leads the league.
  6. I like this signing a lot. McCargo is an unknown, and Kyle Williams is not a short yardage DT. We lost an ungodly number of 3rd and shorts.
  7. I had my wife put her Shirley Temple doll up in the closet for the same reason. Hate the Chucky movies for the same reason. Freaks me out.
  8. I like this topic. Thanks for posting it. My opinion, similar to yours, is that the Bills Vision starts with defensive speed and pressure with great tacklers, continues with special teams, and ends with offensive ball control, spreading the field with deep threats, and player stamina for 4th quarter "finishing the job". The most recent draft underscores the commitment to defense. We are out to one-up the "Dungy-2", with a better run defense up the middle, but with similar safety play. Bob Sanders has been huge for the Colts; our safeties will begin to show that same temperament next year. To meet the Vision I think the middle needs shoring up (Crowell to the middle, healthy Spikes, more experienced Ellison, use Stamer if he can handle the speed, draft one more LB, test out John McCargo, draft or sign one beefy DT). Bobby April has worked his magic with the special teams, but also has outstanding speed and tackling to work with. To meet the Vision, the front office will sign players who were also strong in special teams, On offense, ball control is essential in Buffalo weather, global warming notwithstanding. The big, fast backs (I include McGahee) are vital The Saints have shown you need two. Two play making but hard-blocking TE's are vital, and we have 3/4 of one (Royal is close but I haven't seen both qualities in Cieslak or Everett yet). Finally, it takes two pro bowl WR's, and we have one. To meet the Vision I think we need another big fast back (I think Michael Turner of the Chargers is the best FA choice, and we may draft one or TWO RB-FB types--Brian Leonard of Rutgers is big and fast, as is Michael Bush of Louisville). The TE I'd like to see here is Zach Miller, ASU. He's another Todd Heap. Finally, Dwayne Jarrett is the WR that fits the Vision. He's big, fast, a mismatch, and takes pressure out of the middle where big RB's want to run. Who do you get rid of that isn't part of the Vision? Daimon Shelton (concussion) is probably gone, Neufeld (plantar fasciitis) will need surgery but isn't the blocker anyway, Villarrial (ankle) will need surgery and I'd like to see him as a backup. Clements fits the defensive Vision, but Fletcher-Baker needs to be moved.
  9. I'll start the ball rolling here in the Mock Draft forum for 2007. Here are 3 scenarios pulled from perceived needs and likely picks in that round from CDS Mock Draft website. Which do you like? SCENARIO A: 1. WR Dwayne Jarrett------------Arguably the best WR opposite Evans would keep Defenses wide, make room for Willis 2. MLB Ryan Harris (Notre Dame)----Fletcher-Baker stays to train his successor. Great Tampa 2 guy. 3. 3. 10. Jamarcus Russell may be silver and black by the end of pick #1. Leon Hall is probably gone, given the run on CB's we usually see.
  11. Good news! They have Okoye going #12 on that one. I also wouldn't mind getting a bookend for Evans through the first pick. Ginn is #14 and Samardzija #17.
  12. Who else but Kelsay would do the ads on TV for The Barnes Firm?
  13. I'll take Losman throwing to Evans and Jeff Samardjiza over Quinn throwing to Evans Parrish Reed.
  14. I think they'll name Jim Bates as HC for the 2007-08 season, as The Chin will take the year off. Watch for Cowher to be the coach in 2008-09.
  15. I'd want a young, experienced OG or CB over an experienced DE or WR. Steinbach and/or Clements.
  16. Manuwai has stayed injury-free the last 3 years (16 starts in 16 games), and next year will be his 5th year at Guard. Gurode had stayed injury-free once in his last 5 years (2006). Kris Deilman isn't in Manuwai's class, IMHO.
  17. Great post! You get an A! In contrast to my local paper, you gave PLANs, not just evaluations.
  18. That said, I think they will be strong into offense this year, both draft and FA. I think Evans needs a distractor as a complement---not Price or Reed--a Samardija/Ginn/Jarrett distraction. Your OG comment is right on; a run-blocking guy who can get to the 2nd-level to compete with Gandy-Preston. I'd like to see a TE that can't be covered by one CB or Safety.
  19. Here's who I'll be watching today and in the next few days. Those with asterisks are underclassmen, and may not declare for this draft. If anyone has leads on other players to watch, I'll edit this. 20. I think Saban will leave, and bring his offensive coordinator with him
  21. NFL Network might be able to answer that.
  22. I agree frogger. I like Okoye. Still have no information whether he's related to Christian Okoye, RB for the Chiefs some years ago.
