  2. Thurman retires as a Bill Scroll to the bottom paragraph.
  3. "After she returned home, she watched a documentary about Romanian orphans. One of them was wearing a Buffalo Bills Super Bowl champions T-shirt. “I almost fell out of my chair,” she said." These Romanian orphans should list them on our Trading Post and get some serious jack.
  4. Stay away from betting this game. I understand they are using a ball that isn't round, and it may bounce in weird ways.
  5. His bust in Canton will have his helmet, which is nice.
  6. VCR stands for Victorious Championshipitis Rejectosa, a little-known disease that Kelly, Reed, Thomas, Norwood et al suffered from. It surely caused the losses.
  7. As I left work today, I said to a friend, "Well, the Bills aren't going to lose this one." I predict a major catch by Dallas Clark and a good day by Reggie Wayne make it 21-13, Colts. Peyton Manning is the SB MVP, and everyone will talk about the Go Daddy ad.
  8. I'm looking more at the Draft Tek Guy's website here, and here's why I like his regular draft better: It has us taking Okoye DT in RD#1. This disruptive force, combined with our current DT's, will make a Clements-less backfield look better (if no Clements is a given, and I don't think so). In RD#2, we would have a chance to get a value DE in Victor Abiamiri. A 6-4 275 pound guy, he's a wrecking crew who played for Notre Dame. Had he played with a better supporting cast, he'd have gone higher. I like RB Darius Walker as Draft Tek's 3rd pick as well. He would make a good complement to McGahee, and the playoffs have taught us we need more than one back. At RD#4, I might take a guy like Samson Satele OC Hawaii or Fresno State's Paul Williams at WR. I also notice that Brian Leonard FB is still on the boards at this point, as is Dan Mozes OC WVU, so still some good offense out there. I think we'll be all right either with the Draft Tek simulation or the special one he ran for us.
  9. I agree, Contender. I'd like Okoye or Willis in RD#1, but what DraftTek is showing us is that there's no value in RD#2 at CB. All of the "name" CB's are gone by the time the Bills pick (Jets take Bennett at pick 37, and he's the 6th CB taken at that point. So your options are: (1) paying Clements to stay (2) Revis in the first and he plays Year 1, and draft offense with picks 2-3-4 (3) Settle for Kiwaukee Thomas/McGee/Youboty and go with more d-line pressure (4) Pay less money for a less-experienced FA Thanks for running this, Draft Tek Guy.
  10. Awesome! Thanks for this. We'll be watching for it.
  11. From Wiki: Even though he did not score a touchdown, Raiders wide receiver Fred Biletnikoff, who had 4 catches for 79 yards, was named [super Bowl XI]'s Most Valuable Player. Super Bowl XI was the 11th Super Bowl, the championship game of the National Football League (NFL). The game was played on January 9, 1977 at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, California following the 1976 regular season. The American Football Conference (AFC) champion Oakland Raiders defeated the National Football Conference (NFC) champion Minnesota Vikings, 32–14. Oakland gained a Super Bowl record 429 yards, including a Super Bowl record 288 yards in the first half, en route to winning their first Vince Lombardi Trophy.
  12. They're making it removable so it can be trucked to LA.

  14. Okay, I'm just warming up. We spend our cap money on locking up Nate and signing FA LB Briggs. My "Line, Line, Line" Draft: RD#1: We draft our DT Alan Branch 6-6 325. He's the #1 DT. RD#2: We draft an OT Joe Staley 6-5 305, who on some boards is the #2 LT prospect. RD#3: We draft an OG Ben Grubbs 6-3 305, tough run blocker who'd play from Day 1. The #2 OG. RD#4: We draft WR Jacoby Jones 6-6 with 4.4 speed. His small college drops him to here.
  15. DraftTek in Round 1 here has the 12th-15th picks as follows: Patrick Willis ILB Quentin Moses DE Amobi Okoye DT Darrelle Revis CB I think this is a luxurious choice, and I've heard the arguments about taking Willis ILB or Okoye DT. BUT Drop down from 12 to #22 in the first round, and you can have: Ginn WR Pitcock DT Sidney Rice WR M. Bush RB Still not bad, and the trade value chart gives us a mid-2nd pick in return (Carriker DE, Siler ILB, Rufus Alexander OLB) as well as our original 2nd (Staley OT, Zach Miller TE, maybe Fred Bennett CB). Siler, Pitcock, and Staley. Not a bad round 1-2. Let's get crazier. Want end zone offense with the trade down? How about taking Sidney Rice 6'4" WR, 6'5" Zach Miller (the draft's top rated, great blocking TE), and now trade down once more. Trade the 2nd to drop down from 44 to 55, take HB Blades at ILB, and get pick 110 in mid round 4. Now take Ben Grubbs (our Draft Tek Round 3 OG) in RD#3, and CB AJ Davis with our regular pick in RD#4. You now pick up either OSU's Ryan McBean or --my choice-- Miami's Kareem Brown 6-5 310 (somebody mentioned him as having had a great bowl game) for DT.
  16. I vote 4, too. We don't have a 5th rounder, and we're guessing after that!!!!
  17. Warren, I like the new columns for "REACH" and "VALUE" picks. Great idea.
  18. On-demand publishing is a wonderful thing. I have been writing a book for student teachers and homeschooling parents on how to teach reading in a fun way. I found out about lulu.com, and now have a spiral-bound, 176-page book. The best part is that there's no inventory. your book is shipped about a week after ordering, but it's made on one of the Xerox Docutek printers. This means that I can change things in my book from book to book. Heck, I've had it less than a month and I've revised it twice. Here's the link: linky If anyone has any questions, I'll check back.
  19. I think we CAN assume that they have enough needs so that they won't combine their picks for a run up the board in RD#1. They'll stay right where they are and make good first round picks like in 2004: 2006 Laurence Maroney RB Minnesota 2005 Logan Mankins G Fresno State 2004 Vince Wilfork DT Miami (Fla.) and Ben Watson TE Georgia 2003 Ty Warren DT Texas A&M 2002 Daniel Graham TE Colorado 2001 Richard Seymour DT Georgia
  20. We'll keep hitting that web site; It's fun. Of course the draft will look different. I really get into the draft just for the fun of it, and I don't care if the draft throws curveballs. All the more fun. I do think the Bills keep Fletcher to break in Willis (RD#1), or help Crowell move to the MLB if we take Poluszny at OLB. F-B will need a competitive contract to stay, perhaps with a twist that he stay on as a defensive assistant coach. I think we'll give Pennington the nod at starter and will see about Brad Butler there. The problem with Butler is that he's a one-trick pony, whereas others (Preston at OC-OG and Merz at OC-OG) can fill in at 2 positions. Listening to JP say, "we'll be returning with the same offense, the same coaches, and the same personnel" is huge. Read that to mean we'll make only minor changes on that line (I'm thinking one FA at Guard and one draftee at Guard). The FA (Dielman, Steinbach) would "compete" with Gandy-Preston-Merz (Reyes is gone) for 1 starting spot, and the draftee (Grubbs in a RD#2 trade-down?) competes for the other. I like what I see in Okoye, but I think the mania will cause him to be picked earlier than #12. That could cause more surprises, like Dwayne Jarrett - Leon Hall - Alan Branch falling into our lap...
  21. Good article. Thanks for passing it along. I loved Marv's book; it's required reading, and this is the time of year for reading, that's for sure! Where Else Would You Rather Be? - By Marv Levy
  22. I think Grossman will not be the one to lose the game. I liken this Bears team to the Tampa Bay Bucs of 2002: league's top defense under a guy named Dungy upset of the Eagles in a late win a so-so QB the first matchup of best offense vs. best defense Be afraid, Peyton.
  23. A note to follow sol? And that will bring us back to ... D'OH!
  24. I'm interested in the way this has gone so far. Okoye might actually be a better fit for the Bills than Ngata last year. And PWillis would be a hard hitter regardless of his ultimate spot (ILB or OLB). Here's hoping we aren't surprised on draft day. Again.
