  1. Talk about The Great Race... J-E-T-S sophomore Justin Miller currently has 964 yards in kickoff return yardage in the AFC. McGee is currently at 960. Chris Carr of Oakland (also in his 2nd year) is at 959. The next closest guy is Maroney at 654, so this is a 3 man race for AFC Pro Bowl. McGee is actually 3rd in yards per attempt to Maroney and 1st place Miller with a 2.7 yard difference separating the three. In the NFC, there are a few pretenders, Rock Cartwright at 949, JJ Arrington at 919, and Eddie Drummond at 901, but the real race is Miller-McGee-Carr, with Maroney being underused.
  2. I AM impressed when I watch his press conferences, because he's saying all the right things. But you're right; you don't know what it's like in the locker room.
  3. I too, like PTI (as long as both don't talk at the same time, which is a pet peeve at my age--just wait until you're 58), Around the Horn (the game-like format is original, and Woody Page is amusing), and Matchup. The rest can burn in he11.
  4. I'd rather see a Free Agent Tackle than draft one. We can draft Guard backups-- There are some good OT's on that list.
  5. etc. Thanks, TigerJ, for all the new draft sites! I don't know anything about Okam the DT. I appreciate your work.
  6. I am reminded of the last draft, where many wanted Winston Justice LT and Max Jean-Gilles LG, who are now both ready to step in as the Eagles' left side. Let's not make the same mistake this year.
  7. You may want to watch on Saturday (I know I will): Does Ginn become the player of the game at WR? or Does Leon Hall catch a key INT against Ginn as Michigan's premier CB?
  8. Troy Smith right now is going on most mocks at #16, so if you meant mid-first round....
  9. Once bitten, twice shy? Like any of these better? Top 15 Targeted Prospects For The Buffalo Bills at Pick 11: 1 Quentin Moses, DE Georgia 2 Dwayne Jarret, WR USC 3 Laron Landry, S LSU 4 Michael Griffin, S Texas 5 Antoine Cason, CB Arizona 6 Paul Posluszny, OLB Penn St. 7 Marcus McCauley, CB Fresno State 8 Quinn Pitcock, DT Ohio State 9 Ted Ginn, WR Ohio State 10 Alan Branch, DT Michigan 11 Adrian Peterson, RB Oklahoma 12 Brandon Merriweather, S Miami 13 Levi Brown, OT Penn St. 14 Gaines Adams, DE Clemson 15 Troy Smith, QB Ohio State Top 10 Targeted Prospects at Pick 43 For the Buffalo Bills: 1 Robert Meachem, WR Tennessee 2 Jarrett Hicks, WR Texas Tech 3 Quentin Moses, DE Georgia 4 Courtney Taylor, WR Auburn 5 Fred Bennett, CB South Carolina 6 Sedrick Ellis, DT USC 7 Tom Zbikowski, S Notre Dame 8 Earl Everett, OLB Florida 9 Red Bryant, DT Texas A&M 10 Manny Ramirez, OG Texas Tech Right now if this was who was available, I'd take Ginn or Jarrett at WR with my #1 pick. Jarrett's 6'5", fast, and a legitimate #1 WR. Ginn you'll see on Saturday as The Ohio State Buckeyes beat the Wolvlatrines. I'd take Moses at DE in RD#2. He'll be the #1 or #2 DE in the draft with Gaines Adams at Clemson.
  10. Just our luck to miss the playoffs, but get good enough to miss out on those 5-6 choice plums at the top of the draft tree! A 7-9 record means we're picking 9-12th. I notice our rushing yardage in the last 2 games against good teams was better than before we retooled our O-line. A-Train, or O-line? Who cares? Let's see how Willis does, and find out what we really need on that line. Maybe they will surprise.
  11. Mock Draft by Lee Wright 12. Buffalo Bills Staley, Joe, OT Central Michigan This could be a bit high for Staley, but he would be a great fit for the Bills system with his athletitsm, a bit like current starting RT Jason Peters. ASTRO-COMMENT: NO. This is way high for Staley. The only similarity between Peters and Staley is they both used to be TE's. Watch for Staley in late Round 2. Featured Draft By Kevin Zuckerman 12. Buffalo Bills Thomas, Marcus, DT Florida This team misses Sam Adams more than they care to admit. A QB could be taken here if they decide Losman isn't their player, or WR because they lack a true #2 and are loaded with #3's. ASTRO-COMMENT: NO. Marcus Thomas isn't your character guy. He was kicked off the team 10 days ago, and had been suspended twice before for substance abuse violations. Mock Draft by Mike Jendrycki 12. Buffalo Bills Brown, Levi, OT Penn St. The Bills' offensive line is pretty bad, and so it's the biggest priority to address. ASTRO_COMMENT: NO. Levi Brown won't be there at 7, much less 12, despite some Penn State wallers saying how bad he is. Mock Draft by Brandon Cheyka 9. Buffalo Bills Brohm, Brian, QB Louisville Losman has proven to be a huge dissapointment, so look for them to bring in one of the toughest QBs in the draft. ASTRO_COMMENT: NO. The mock drafter can't spell disappointment, he doesn't have my patience with JPL, and Brohm will be another Gradkowski. Mock Draft by Jack Wibright 12. Buffalo Bills Blalock, Justin, OG Texas ASTRO_COMMENT: YES. Catch him on TV this weekend. Blaylock has the makings of a great addition to the O-line. He's been touted as having better upside than Jonathan Scott. He is 6'4", 330 (Jason Peters' dimensions), with 5.3 speed, has 25 consecutive games at OG for the national champs, was first team Big 12 as a sophomore, and he'd be our biggest lineman except for Aaron Merz (much slower).
  12. If I have a top 5 pick, I'd trade down a bit and get Paul Poluszny LB Penn State and another 2nd-3rd Rounder. London Fletcher isn't going to be our top tackler for long. I'd pick up our replacements for Villy and Gandy in RD#2: Our regular 2nd Rounder will be Ben Grubbs, OG, Auburn. Our second RD2 pick will be Barry Richardson, OT, Clemson.
  13. Wayne’s Stats Week 6 ---INDY's Bye Week Week 7 ---vs Washington 7 catches 122 yards Week 8 ---vs Denver 10 catches 138 yards Week 9 ---vs N.E. 6 catches for 90 yards Week 10—vs Buff 4 catches for 42 yards Terrence did a yeomanlike job against his man last Sunday. Props to McGee for his work on defense as well as special teams.
  14. Leftwich: Lower completion percentage, lower yards per completion, fewer 20+ plays, fewer 40+ plays, tiny lead feet, benefactor of great field position from his defense. No. Here's a link to the JAX board "Trade Byron Leftwich thread: Linky
  15. Ramius is referring to the "get it quick" mentality of the recent era, long after those back to back 2-14 seasons, where you waited for the Sunday highlights until Cosell narrated them at halftime during MNF. Hot Pockets Fans, some of you are.
  16. The Spikes comeback is one of the best NFL stories of 2006. We'd hear more of it if his name was Bruschi. Forgot about Clements' earlier play. It was against Driver (the 5th play out of 6 in a row to Driver!) with 8 minutes to go in the half.
  17. L. Fletcher-Baker 11 Tackles, 3 Assists. A freakin' touchdown which, until 8:00 to go in the game, was more points than the offense had. Two other almost INT's. Plus he's the heart of this defense. N. Clements 7 Tackles, 2 Assists, and a very critical tipped pass whic Ko Simpson ran back to set up the last TD. T. McGee 6 Tackles and several pass defenses against Driver. Add the kick return to set up our first TD on special teams. T. Spikes 5 Tackles, 4 Assists, a tipped pass, and his best game in his comeback so far. A. Schobel 4 Tackles, 2 Sacks, and tons o' hurries. Honorable Mention: K. Simpson 4 Tackles-2 Assists, and the tipped ball return from the endzone.
  18. Congratulations! Are you letting $1K ride for next week?
  19. Dante Whitner missed several tackles today, and Ko caught a tipped ball from #22. I'm not ready to anoint these two as our future great backfield.
  20. Right now, your parlay is looking pretty good.
  21. Schobel is having an All-Pro game, but so is Fletcher (7 tackles, 2 assists) and McGee (59 yard kick return, 4 tackles).
  22. It was an "Ole!" by Villy. Peters and Pennington had their guy blocked. Pennington is having his hands full, but I've seen Royal help, A-Train help, etc.--Also Losman getting rid of the ball with decisiveness has helped. We're pretty effective running on the left side; Peters and Fowler (with one exception) have blocked well. That said, the D leads the O, 7-3
  23. " Over the years, I’ve always watched Denver on film and seen the offensive line. But I didn’t know the line worked so hard and did what they do. And the scheme here is incredible. It’s just perfect. You plug in the right running back into that style, with these linemen and with (fullback) Howard Griffith, it’s unbelievable." The above was said in 2000 by RB Raymont Harris. At the time, they had the lightest line in the NFL--287.8 pounds. It was OLT Tony Jones (291 pounds), OLG Mark Schlereth (287), C Tom Nalen (286), ORG Daniel Neil (285) and ORT Matt Lepsis (290). Fullback was Howard Griffith, a big help in his own right. Many of these years Alex Gibbs was the coach and Elway was the QB. Another factor. Zone blocking schemes, possibly cut-blocking, and stretching the defense laterally with their speed and quickness are other reasons. Mark Schlereth once said that the difference was the time the O-Line put in. "There's not a guy on our offensive line who's not in the facility at 7 o'clock for a 9 o'clock meeting."
  24. Go with the fattest one. You'll be freezing your a$$e$ off.
