  1. No, Easterbrook has always been a ****ty football writer. Here's another example. Maybin wouldn't have made a difference on this team, that's a fact and anyone with some semblance of objectivity would know that. My beef is with his "saving their jobs" statement, it's horseshit. With or without Maybin they're fine, they have bigger issues than that scrub. We got 10 sacks against the Redskins, they have the worst line in the league. And Maybin's other 3 sacks have come against ****ty tackles as well, including our beloved Pears, also Scott Chandler who can't block a thing. Cutting Maybin wasn't a move to maximize the bottom line, they wanted to go with players that showed more than he did and no one could argue with that. The guy was, and stil is trash, and that block by Barber in the exhibition game summed up Maybin's career as a Bill, on the ground laying flat on his back. Heck, the Jets cut him again after camp and didn't bring him back until injuries surfaced, they took a shot because they had no one else. If Thomas stays healthy Maybin's not a Jet.
  2. You guys up for a good laugh. TMQ article from last August. Easterbrook is a ****ty evaluator of talent. Someone remind him what JPP is doing. He thought all these guys, including Maybin, would get outplayed by Buffalo's Antonio Coleman. How's that working out for us? LOL Edit: What a hack? I'm sure he was writing about Nix/Gailey making excuses and mailing in the season when the team was 5-2. Does he mention any other injuries, no just Maybin, MVPaybin.
  3. We should probably cut him, or maybe we can try to trade him for a 4th.
  4. It's hard/rare for a DT to come into the league and set the world on fire. The only guys to really dominate in their first year is Suh and Kevin Williams, and you can make the case that Suh is having himself a sophmore slump if you look at his stats and inability to anchor in the run game, not to mention the penalties/suspension. Ngata, Sapp, Jenkins, Wilfork, didn't see much time year 1 and took time to develop. Also have to factor in that Dareus would be a Senior this year, so I'm giving him until next season to real come into his own. Patience, DT is a difficult position to play. You can dominate with pure athleticism in college, different ball game in the pros, you best learn to use your hands violently or you're in for a rough career. You make a good point, it's hard to take everything in on one play. I do make an effort to just stare at the front 4 from time to time, easier to do in the run game. Yesterday I felt Dareus struggled in the 1st half, but stepped it up and had a good second half. Heard looked good in his limited time. It was easy to follow the DL yesterday because the Titans really didn't want to pass the ball.
  5. Finley torched Kelsay last year, when they asked him to cover, Edwards learned from that failed experiment. If we're seriously considering playing a legit 3-4, we need our OLB to cover from time to time. Matthews/Ware/Harrison/Woodley all do it.
  6. Not a fan. I think his long term position is ILB in a 3-4, he won't be able to stay with TE's and he's an average pass rusher. Very little explosiveness, we need to find a guy like Aldon Smith. Upshaw can definitely set the edge against the run, but he's going to have to cover TE's at some point and he'll be exposed.
  7. Someone struck a nerve.... I guess you served him some crow, nice job!
  8. He wasn't shying away from contact until he was absolutely leveled during the Cowboys/Miami games. Fitz got him killed and now he's a bit more hesitant.
  9. I really think we'll turn the corner in the next year or so, we need a couple of more drafts and we should be headed in the right direction.
  10. Denver almost lost today because Miller was out, they looked like a different team without him. Too bad the Vikings D is ****.
  11. He's seeing consistent playing time at WR, having success, and yet you're not satisfied. I'm actually more hopeful for him now than I was when they first inked him to a deal. If Fitz hit him on that deep ball in 1st half, he would've gone for over 100 yards, he torched that corner. I guess you want more gimmicks, I'm fine with that stuff when you're ahead and not trailing. Can't take those risks when you're down.
  12. LOL Are you serious with the Upshaw talk? A guy with very little athletic ability, who only managed 7 sacks while playing against pathetic competition. You're the same guy who bashed Von Miller during the draft process, should we go back and look at how off you were with Miller? Your opinion is no better than his. Get real, please. Like someone said, you have an axe to grind. If Spiller went for 300 with 5 TDs it still wouldn't have swayed you, "one game, blah blah blah."
  13. HAHAHA Speaking of loser.... You're going to have an aneurysm, take a deep breath loser.
  14. I didn't like the Williams pick either, but you know what, he's looked damn good the last two weeks. Too bad he got hurt today, guy played a good game. If we had a pass rush Sanchez doesn't break contain, and Williams doesn't lose his man.
  15. Does RG3 play defense? Outside of one bad throw RGIII played great against A&M. Shame his defense is atrocious, Baylor has to drop 40+ points just to have a shot with how poor that D plays. Tannehill came out on top, but he has the better overall team.
  16. Good post, can't disagree with what you said.
  17. Searcy may be a find in the 4th, besides his one missed assignment he looked good, really good for a rookie with only one game under his belt.
  18. It's hard to be much a factor when your 1st round DT, and #3 overall pick is being engulfed all game long. Linebackers are only as good as their DL. Dareus looked like Glenn Dorsey today.
  19. He's a solid player but nothing amazing, we'll have a top 10 pick and we aren't taking him that high. Just not athletic enough, but he's well rounded.
  20. Not a fan of Upshaw to be honest. Guy averages half a sack and that's in the SEC, where most tackles aren't very good. No real explosiveness, solid players but won't be dominate. Burfict is the type of player that falls to teams like the Ravens and Steelers. They'll correct his issues and watch him become a dominant player in the league. Ngata had motivation issues, look at him now. Not a fan of many of the LBs to be honest, but the guy with the most upside is Burfict imo. Hightower hasn't been the same since his knee injury, lost a lot of his speed/explosiveness. Edit: Another guy with good explosiveness is West Virginia DE Bruce Irvin, hasn't done much this year but I don't think they use him properly and neither would George Edwards. West Virginia rushes 3, they really don't blitz him from a 2 pt stance.
  21. Dareus is only 22 to boot, he's not Suh, but he'll get better. Too soon to tell with any of these guys, why make an issue over the '11 draft right now? I'm sure Peterson will develop into a fine CB, he's just not there right now. BJ Raji didn't even play his first year in the league, and he came out as a Senior, not a Junior like Marcell. Give the a guy a break, for now anyway.
  22. Peterson has played like flat out garbage @ the CB position. Yeah, he's getting on TV because of punt return TDs, but when he's asked to cover he gets destroyed. Nicks and Crabtree ate him up. I'm sure you would've been jumping for joy if they took Green. Educate yourself. Where's Peterson on that list. Guy has done nothing besides contribute to special teams. Dareus has hit a wall, 10 games is about what they play in college. Hasn't been amazing but you're acting like he's washed up after 10 games.
