Two thoughts I had watching the debate: The GOP did the tape to push Trump into going after Bill and her. I think judging by the first debate, he wasn't going to go there. Just needed a little push because they knew the Democrats couldn't resist walking into it. I bet you in this upcoming debate she will do her damnedest to stay positive and Bill won't be there for whatever reason they make up. She can't hang with Trump in a slugfest with Fox moderators.

Her attempts to laugh off everything are going to backfire. She may not take him seriously. However, you look at the faces of their little crowd there and there was no laughing, smirking.

She will have us in a hot war in Syria by the end of January 2017. "Russian aggression"

I remember impassioned debates on here about Tyler Wilson.

I think it's also the reason the Hilary Clinton brand is really not her at all anymore - it's various little armies of staffers with no primary leader. They don't communicate with each other and that's why you have an inordinate amount of sloppiness because Abedin controls X, Mills controls Y, DNC controls Z and Bill doing whatever the hell he wants - with all having a central interest in "Hilary Clinton: The Idea".

With Reagan? Alzheimer's. With Clinton, I'm of the opinion she and he (Bill) both have progressing Parkinson's Disease. He's better because he's largely off the campaign trail and get treated for it as he should. She's not so lucky. She has all the tells that my grandfather had as he battled the disease for 20 years. ALL of them. Her days of seclusion before debates fits with the treatment protocols for the disease - namely slow drip infusions, rest and a few days for the medications to work because you don't see the effects immediately. The infusions make anyone suffering from Parkinson's look like a million bucks for a little while and calms down they haywire motor control functions. Her race for President is a personal race against time. The last ditch effort to accomplish what she's always wanted.

Should the Bills move on from Dareus?

I have been (and remain) a supporter of offloading him this off-season. -
If you take a look at the article B-Man posted about the scripted Steve Harvey show and also consider how her health is intensely managed, I think Hilary Clinton's worst nightmare is actually being President after inauguration. It's not like it gets easier once you grab the ring. I'm convinced that if she wins, Tim Kaine is really your next President of the United States. I give her a year, if that. She can't even keep up with a campaign. You're right that it wouldn't be the first time - I think America had a President with progressive Alzheimer's Disease with Reagan. It's why he looked out of touch and clearly something was off with him by the time Iran/Contra hit and you saw less and less of him as his second term wound down. You saw more of Richard Nixon and Gerald Ford post presidency than you did him. The difference with Clinton is that her disease is already at an advanced state, requiring frequent treatment. It only gets worse as time marches on, regardless of the small army employed to combat it.

Infusions and rest. Days are spent making her look her best for exactly 90 minutes and not a minute longer.

Kaine as the Joker is spot on. Pence reminds me of the bad guy in Under Siege 2 or Race Bannon in Johnny Quest. These debates are terrible. There is zero decorum and the moderators are woefully out of their league. They should have game show hosts do them. Kind of serious about that. They are used to managing contestants.

The whole "THERE ARE PLAYERS KNEELING and I CAN'T WATCH IT" argument is weak. I see people who attend actual sporting events who are too lazy to 1) stand or 2) take their hats off.

Both men deserve credit for giving this debate an air of two guys on the front porch chatting after mowing their respective lawns.

Stephen A Smith- responds to last week's critique

He needs to stay on General Hospital and get an evil twin who's a better sports commentator. -
Democrats are outraged by what Trump says. Democrats ignore what Hilary Clinton does. It's a great story for Scandal but in real life, you put Clinton in the White House and you're going to have a President who'll be impeached in the first term. If she's done all of this just to get in the White House, what do you think she's going to do once she's in there?

How about mandatory body cameras + stop/interview/frisk + a training program developed by the FBI and state police in each state to improve approaches to the use of force, with mandatory accreditation requirements? I don't know what Chicago thinks is going to radically change without a dramatic new approach in the neighborhoods. TBH, and this might be an aside, I thought the police deployed taser technology to avoid having to draw their service weapons on people.

Pennywise and John Wayne Gacy, and to a lesser degree, Brian Dennehy's acting ability in playing John Wayne Gacy. You watch either miniseries and you're not going to like clowns either. -
The third parties picked a poor year to have space cadets as their chosen candidates. She (Stein) is really no more firmly grounded on the planet than he is. Both parties (Green and Libertarian) could have probably done some damage with legitimate candidates.
-
I'm amazed the Libertarian party couldn't find someone better. He comes across even more goofy if you just listen to him on the radio. I was listening live, flipping through the news channels, when he had the Aleppo moment. That's like Ross Perot not knowing who the Kurds were in 1992. Thinking about it - Ross Perot, as a third party candidate, capturing 19% of the vote in 1992, is akin to the Bills going to four straight Super Bowls. Probably won't be eclipsed.

Should the Bills try & trade for Romo in the offseason?
dpberr replied to Jerry Jabber's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If Tony Romo was my friend, I wouldn't let him pick up a heavy box, not to mention play professional football. Back problems are no joke. Back surgery is like frame work on a car. You're never the same. -
Two theories for discussion: #1. Is it because the NFL employs more and more men that aren't "likeable"? Professional wrestling had it right in the 1980s. They understood you needed the heroes and the heels. NFL today, it seems like coaches and players alike enjoy being the heel via on field actions or off it. Outside of wins and loses, is there enough players and coaches that are generally likeable human beings playing the game today? #2 Peyton Manning retired and a lot of people were simply interested in watching him and he was very popular with a swath of football audience that didn't care about the game, but did enjoy watching him and his career.

The more I read about why Myles Jack isn't playing, the more it reminds me of what happened to Aaron Curry, the former Wake Forest, Seattle Seahawk linebacker. He was drafted 4th overall in the 2009 draft and was a pass rush and tackling machine at Wake Forest. A Von Miller for that time. Seattle didn't do any favors for this guy. They started him out strong side and asked him to do things he didn't do well at Wake Forest (pass coverage) and not to do things he did well at WF (rush the passer). They bench him and trade him to Oakland who then turns him into a weak side linebacker - a position he hadn't played before and on top of it, made him again, play the pass more than rush the passer. I see the Jags have already moved Jack from the position he played in UCLA and he's been slow to pick it up. I don't know why organizations don't put their draft picks in positions to succeed and let them do what they do well. The reason he's not playing isn't on Jack or his knees but the Jags not drafting the player they really needed.

You asked if government had a profit motive. In Harrisburg they do. The only reason anything on that list was legislated was to maximize profit to Harrisburg, mostly through fees, not 100% taxes. Of course, they call it "revenues" but the media goes nuts here when gambling money is above what's expected and the archaic state store model hasn't disappeared from PA yet because it brings so much cash into the coffers after paying for all the staff, buildings, etc. Of course, that's state vs. the federal level (you mentioned the IRS).
-
Just to add - Pennsylvania is selling anything that isn't bolted down because it has major pension and real estate tax problems that it doesn't want to practically fix. Natural Gas (they collect some cash here) Alcohol (the legislature is very very reluctant to give up the state stores.) Marijuana (going to legalize medical use, and they have lucrative fees and taxes attached to the legislation.) Gambling (lucrative fees) Gasoline (they said to pay for transportation but it's really just an excuse to fund the state police they would otherwise underfund) Cigs (big tax on those, and they continually up the tax to balance the general fund) TBH, I can see the day that states start legitimately considering legalizing prostitution. The pension crisis is going to be that bad when the pension rooster comes strutting home.

Wasn't this all resolved in the movie 2010? You aren't supposed to go anywhere near Jupiter.
