  1. I'm not insinuating anything (also, I held out hope for EJ, but was never convinced)...the scenario posted I restated: an extra 1st this year, two 2nds this year, McCoy....that's a ton of assets and yes, you forfeit a MLB, WR and Offensive lineman in exchange for the QB you creamed your jeans over....meanwhile, Jackson and even MAYBE Rosen is still there at 12 or even trading up to 7, but not giving up your other 1st this year or even one of your 2nds this year, probably a 3rd this year.....THAT's a big difference and if you don't think so, then there's nothing I can say. Also, I'm not "over reacting drama specialist" I merely clarified the analogy. Take it down a notch....you tried to say that I wanted to wait in the later rounds to Draft a QB, which I do not, I clarified that as well despite your assumption and failure to comprehend what I wrote. That said, we agree to disagree, best wishes on the rest of your day and as always, Go Bills!
  2. But, that IS the difference....because in this scenario, the Bills still have a pick at 12 and can trade up to #7 or something to secure a guy they like a lot, just not so much as to give up multiple years' worth of assets. This isn't like you get 1 and the rest are horrible....and this isn't like getting one girl who looks like a 10 and everyone else is a 5....you've got a 9.5, 9, and a couple 8s, maybe a 7.5 all of which are good and ready to go, just not "elite" right out of the gate. But just like every...single....year, there will be a guy who falls in the Draft or "comes out of nowhere" and lights it up and everyone says, "Who?"....Dak, Cousins, Wilson, etc. I'm NOT advocating for waiting beyond the 1st, I'm not even advocating for NOT trading up...but I AM an advocate for NOT giving up so much when the team has so much else it needs to remain competitive.
  3. Dear God....I never said, nor would any reasonable person say, the Bills shouldn't Draft a QB. But as of today, the Bills at 12, you have a great chance at getting a good to great QB. By all accounts, it might even be Rosen...but it most likely would be someone like Jackson. And don't get me started on Jackson and the tired narrative of people regurgitating the fallacies about his game. But, jumping to #7 overall to get a guy like Rosen, isn't that bad...but giving up McCoy (which I'm fine with for the right reason), two 1st, two 2nds, and a 1st next year is INSANE, IMHO....going to 7th, is probably a 3rd this year to get there and maybe a 5th next or something like that....if that's what it takes to do it, fine.....but regardless, I'm ALLLLLLLLL for Drafting a QB, just not leveraging every piece of valuable Draft assets the Bills have to do it.
  4. Um, no...you don't have a 2nd this year. Also, do you not understand how marriage / divorce works? In the original analogy it's taking home the hottest girl early in the sifting process but that analogy insinuates you get your ride, then she goes home...but in this case, if you jump on the hottest girl, because of the cost involved, it is much more like marriage and what you have to "give up" to get the hottest girl...also, like in divorce, you don't get to just dump her and walk away with nothing more than a few hours of your life inconvenienced. Like in divorce, should you decide it's not working, you've lost significant amount of money, time, effort and lost out on other women who may have been a better fit had you not been so hot to jump on the pretty girl. In other words, if you're going up to the bar to hit on the girl to take her home because she's the hottest in your opinion, you better be ready to marry her and give up everything I mentioned without really knowing who she is or what she brings into your house. If we were sitting at #2, then that would much more like being set up on a blind date, where she's smokin' hot and you decide to give it a go, but what you forfeit to get her is WAAAAAAAYYYY less....because it would be just 1 pick in a single year....
  5. But in your analogy, it's not just hitting it with the girl in the bar where the investment is basically a few hours and just a little bit of money. But, instead, you have marry her, forfeit your house, agree to the number of kids to have in 4 years, pay for her vehicle, be willing to relocate at any time necessary, be willing to get rid of two of your best and closest friends because she doesn't like them, and ready to forego wild vacations for the next 12 years for someone you've met, and chatted with in an intoxicated condition (QB drunk) over the period of about 3 hours. That's the analogy.... So, you can take the hottest girl with all of this tied to the cost, which also comes with a complete unknown as to how she'll age, what friends she'll bring into her life, what her parents or family is like, if she's way over her head in debt, and whether she's carrying any diseases... Or, you can take the girl who's cute, not as drunk, fun and smart and says, just take me as I am, no strings, no requirements and I'll give up for you everything I've got to make this work. That's full string in your analogy....
  6. Of all the mid round WRs, this is the guy I hope the Bills still have the picks to get. I now MLB comes first after QB, but then this guy would be fantastic as a boundary WR to compliment Benjamin and hopefully they move Zay to the slot, his natural WR position. Kerley can also be used in the slot and in 4 WR sets adding another dimension.
  7. Nothing....he shouldn't be. I think Shady has been absolutely the best Offensive player since he arrived. And despite a little bit of a rough start to his public persona in Buffalo, which is understandable considering he was blindsided by the trade, he's been a terrific community member as well. The whole "incident" aside, he's been a good dude for the team. But IMHO, the WOF players are reserved for guys like Bruce, Tasker, Jimbo, Thurman and the others, who played nearly their entire career in Buffalo and made significant contributions to the team and community for many years.
  8. Insurance for a home, could Allbright be confused about the type of "agent"?? LOL....
  9. Again, that's cool for you....but no thanks, I'm good.
  10. Apparently Ben Allbright reads this message board and referenced Fergy's "source"....
  11. Hahaha!!! That would be the first time anyone has taken it in *that* context, but I did get quite the chuckle.....
  12. To each his own, but I think you're setting yourself up for a pretty brutal response to this statement.....
  13. I'm for a dome....I don't think going to the snow game in Indy with a child is that much fun, but that's me. I think Offenses play better in domed stadiums, and the NFL is very much geared toward the Offense. Additionally, if the Vikings in Minnesota can host a Super Bowl, with a new dome the Buffalo Bills can and most likely would too. I think *that* is a terrific selling point because it means not only would it happen once, but probably two or three times over time. Basically, the dome in a Western NY makes football more fun when the games are *theoretically* going to matter more. Of course playing in the beautiful sunshine in October when the air is a crisp 40 degrees is great. But, that happens MAYBE twice a season...and you still risk the rain or torturous winds and of course, snow. Also, aside from a collapse due to a snow-pocalypse, you don't have to pay people to go shovel out the seats. Dome is just the way to go...makes the experience so much more enjoyable. Also, depending on where they build it if it's something like recent domes with tremendous windows, the aesthetics would be pretty great.
  14. For all the 2nd / 3rd round prospects, I agree it's a real area of need for the Bills, but IF they trade UP, will be hard to do presuming one of the picks in the 1st three rounds is a MLB, which right now would seem a guarantee.
  15. In all due respect, there are quite a few Buffalo Bills fans in the Central New York area: Utica-Rome-Herkimer area and those are 200 miles away (approximately with Utica being 204)....so, while this area tends to have a number of Jets / Giants fans, Buffalo is well represented overall. I know you didn't mean it as a sleight, I'm just pointing out that merchandise is big in this area as well.
  16. You may be right...but honestly, I don't think anyone knows. Dare I say, even McD himself. He's been a Defensive guy for so long and Tyrod wasn't his guy, so it's almost impossible to know if he has that ability or not. Belicheck was a Defensive guy, but found a cerebral Tom Brady and was able to maximize his talent and skills to the tune of becoming what we've all been tortured to witness for nearly 20 years...ugh, can't believe it's been that long!! McD does seem like a very bright man and his didactic, organized and planned way of doing things might very well be just the ticket for a kid like Rosen. Who knows? Point being....way too early to know that about McD IMHO.
  17. In today's NFL, I think it's the MLB.....he is the QB of the Defense and IMHO, the only other position that can truly influence the outcome of the game outside of the obvious QB position. MLB calls the coverages, adjust the Defensive line positions, and of course has to be the first to diagnose the Offense. Not to mention all of his actual position responsibilities, e.g. tackling, covering receivers, INTs / FFs, blitzing, etc.
  18. And in TOTALLY different Offensive systems....Rosen was Pro Style, under center and not nearly the volume of screens / bubble-screens that Mayfield had. I'm not opposed to Mayfield (I don't think he'll do well in the NFL right out of the gate) but I'm not a big fan of his....I'm "meh" on Mayfield. However, out of the two....Rosen's "off field concerns" are far and away much less concerning than Mayfield's. Both are rooted in immaturity...but Rosen's is an interest to be globally aware and use his status to advance his brand of politics or social ideas whereas Mayfield's was to me a greater revelation of character issues. Rosen is cerebral and takes an interest in things that truly matter beyond football. Some are threatened by intelligence and an interest to be active in the amelioration of society, others see a young man who can be very much the football star and the activist without negating the weight of either sphere of influence. However, as Kap has shown, you must pick your position carefully and wisely in order to keep those two worlds from colliding. They must remain almost compartmentalized although there will be influence between the two. The best of the best are able to handle these nuances. I think Rosen can do that, but it will take some maturity and growth and it will take a Coach who can speak to him on his level. He does not seem to easily respect those who aren't capable of handling his acumen, and that is a bit of a personality issue. Not one to avoid Drafting, but one that can be a locker room challenge. Most of these men are of average to maybe slightly below average intelligence. When you get challenged by someone you don't believe has more knowledge than you do, there's a special type of patience and grace needed to navigate that relationship. I like Rosen a bunch, he's my favorite QB in this Draft so I am certainly biased. But, IMHO, I don't think that changes the fact that he is purest pocket passer in this Draft and has as much potential as any of the QBs to be an elite QB in the league for more than a decade.
  19. I'm not saying I agree with ALL of your statements or opinions, but it IS refreshing to hear from someone who's actually watched his games in person. There are many so called "experts" and every year these same people get it wrong sometimes, and right sometimes. That to me, says it's nearly impossible to predict which QB will actually be a good to great QB, so in the end, you trust your information and your instincts and hope for the best. That said, I don't think anyone could argue that taking Allen is all about "potential". In that, it's not like Luck or Manning where you've seen them do it on a level that screams All Pro, but he certainly has all the potential to be that good.
  20. It's hard being a Bills fan....always looking for the negative, trying to bring a room down instead of enjoying the moment, trying not to finish on his back before he says the magic word...oh, that's just you. Fair enough....have a stupendous day.
  21. Thank you for posting this - but I’ve linked Cover1 scouting reports and put out stats and information - those who discredit all those sources, simply decide NOT to like Jackson despite objective data. I’m sure not anywhere close to all or even some, but there is a faction who just don’t like Jackson because he looks like Tyrod - even though he is much, much better already - any type of comparison behind and ends with Vick.
  22. We certainly do agree to disagree. You continue to say he runs at the first sign of trouble, yet nearly every single evaluator would disagree with you for his most recent, and polished year. Consider reading this Cover1 article: https://www.cover1.net/scouting-report-qb-lamar-jackson-louisville/ Here's an excerpt about his strengths: Strengths: "Aside from his overall athletic ability, which of course is my highest-graded trait of the former Cardinal, his poise and ability to throw from the pocket really stood out on his 2017 film." Again, we won't agree, but your take on him, IMHO, is very far from being based in fact and more from taking quick hit reads and one line headlines and forming an opinion.
  23. I strongly disagree about the "few years" portion of your statement. I think Jackson would benefit from A year to sit, but Cosell has mentioned in other places that Jackson's footwork in some cases is fine, it's when his base is too narrow, causing the errant throws. But considering Jackson's percentage is .09% below the coveted 60% for a college passer, let's not presume he's "way off"...then you consider he led the 5 major QBs in dropped passes by his receivers and that he ran a Pro Style Offense, and I don't think he's as raw or under-developed as you insinuate. Jackson has developed tremendously under proper teaching and coaching with Petrino and IMO, you can see how he's still developing meaning, he's going to get better with good coaching. Jackson is a good pocket passer that needs to work on his footwork and placement but he's not some prospect that couldn't come in and begin to win from the pocket - he just wouldn't be as good as he will be if he sits and learns for a year. That said, whatever team will need to commit to that year. Not just have him hold a clipboard and throw him out onto an island, but have the QB coach really work with him, spend time with him, go over mechanics and film. If so, sky is the limit for the kid.
  24. I'm one for staying at 12 and keeping all the picks. In fact, if the Bills were able to get a QB at 12, ala Jackson, I'd be fine with trading 22 to go back in the 1st if it meant picking up another or say for the Colts, picking up 2 of their 2nds. Bills need a lot of good players to fill out their roster and the positions of "need" are deep this year in this Draft. That said, IF the Bills wanted to trade up for the franchise guy they think they MUST get, the OP's scenario is probably the worst for the Bills. Mayfield - Browns, Darnold - Giants, Rosen - Jets....meaning the Bills are essentially pegged to stay at 12. Again, I prefer that, but if they really, really want to go up and get their guy, Mayfield at 1, just about puts a nail in that coffin. Because, I'm not one who thinks Gettleman will trade out of 2....and by the time 4 comes around if the above scenario is accurate, why would the Bills trade up if they can still get Allen or Jackson at 12? That would be worse than trading up for any of the other 3, IMO. So, Texans? Gaines is there now....
  25. Ballage would be a great fit for the Bills. I like him and Chubb behind the 1st and high 2nd round RBs the most. They both have a nice combination of power and speed.
