  1. Chan was a lot better than the team's record would indicate. He took a stagnant offense & made it exciting. A lot of what screwed this team was poor execution by the players. Fitz's last minute turnovers on game winning/tying drives was not a product of bad coaching, nor were the untimely fumbles by CJ & FJ, the dropped passes or bad calls. Certainly he takes some blame for the personnel decisions that were within his control, & a few questionable play calls along the way, but by & large he was good at running the offense. The fact that the boy geniuses at TBD would have called different plays means nothing to me. You'd think the dolts running NFL teams could save themselves a lot of trouble by checking in here to find out what Madden football veterans have to say about calling a game.
  2. I'd be happy with any of the following: Mike Glennon Landry Jones Aaron Murray Geno Smith Charles Barkley OK with: Tyler Wilson Tahj Boyd Only as a 2nd QB drafted (project): Tyler Bray Zac Dysert Logan Thomas
  3. I can't believe Andy Reid only has < 3%. I voted L Smith, but Reid would be a close second. If paired w/ a good DC he'd be great. 13 years of success is not negated by one bad season.
  4. Missing a bang-bang call is understandable, but something like this should be a black mark on his record & he should be made to defend his position before the league. He's a Ref, not a dictator.
  5. You can check that bull **** at the door
  6. Thank You. This seems to me the most painfully obvious conclusion. I don't understand why so many here are perplexed by this great mystery.
  7. For some reason I have a positive association with Whisenhunt in my mind, but I'm not sure why. Despite stumbling across Kurt Warner I can't think of any positives from his time in AZ.
  8. Have we always hired experienced head coaches with track records of consistent success, often in the face of adversity? Norv has a winning record during his time in San Diego. Had a few good years with the Skins too - he got fired with a 7-6 record b/c the kicker missed 2 would be game winning FGs < 40 yd in the 4th of his last game as their coach. Edit: He's also won playoff games.
  9. Go youtube some of their games and see if you still like Bray over Glennon.
  10. How is Lovie Smith a reject loser? And what realistic option would you prefer? I don't want him here, but Norv didn't destroy the Chargers. They don't have the talent they did when he got there. That's on the GM.
  11. He's been pretty successful. After going 5-11 in his first season He's had 5 winning seasons against 2 losing seasons (both 7-9) and one year of 8-8. And all this w/ the likes of Kyle Orton, Rex Grossman, & often injured Jay Cutler. I'll take that.
  12. In fairness, RJ rode the Doug Flutie Bus to the playoffs and then jumped in the driver's seat once he was in.
  13. If we don't go QB in the first and they're both available I'd take Bjorne Borg over Te'o. I know LB is the greater need, but having 2 dominant DEs who can set the edge & rush the passer is hell on an offense. And I'm sure Te'o will be a good player, but his lack of speed worries me. That's b/c Glennon > G Smith.
  14. I'm expecting him to be off the board when we pick, but if we're lucky enough to get him I'll have Sunday ticket & my popcorn ready for opening day.
  15. If you can get Lovie Smith you have to pull the trigger. The guy has been to the SB, overcome a down year, succeeded with mediocre QBs, & is coming off a 10-6 season. We'd be lucky to have him.
  16. Only 5 of those games are against teams that finished better than .500 this year. Looks good to me.
  17. I don't hear Aaron Murray mentioned that often, but he looks pretty good. I thought he looked better than Tyler Wilson. What am I missing?
  18. I see that name come up a bit. I haven't watched him as much as the others but from what I saw he seemed like a less polished version of Glennon. Do you thing Nassib is better or just available in a later round?
  19. I thought of that, but Smith has a pretty hefty salary too (for a back up), plus they may be able to renegotiate with Fitz. I know Fitz doesn't have much street cred in Buffalo, but his numbers are pretty decent; I would think he's a step up from anyone they could take off the scrap heap, and Harbaugh may like a cerebral guy who can step in if his QB goes down. I figure it's a longshot, but could get us a proven commodity on the cheap.
  20. What if we were to trade Fitz & a pick to SF for Smith? That way if whoever we draft needs time to develop, or doesn't get it done, we've got a guy who's maybe not spectacular, but solid to play QB and let our playmakers make plays. It would be a good move for SF b/c they get a solid veteran b/u who isn't disgruntled and gain a pick in the process (I'm thinking 4th?). Anyone think they'd go for it?
  21. So who do you want under center next year? Veteran or rookie? Who can we get and what will it cost? Personally, I'd like to see Mike Glennon fall to us in the draft, but there's 4 other prospects I'd be happy with too.
  22. Unless there's someone noteworthy who wants to come here I'd be okay with another year. Especially considering this is supposed to be the biggest market for coaches in years, it might not be the most ideal time to shop for one.
  23. Another nod to Mario Williams, who was trashed unmercifully for having a slow start and finished the season with double digit sacks.
  24. I'd like to give an honorable mention to Fitz, who blew a few games this season, but played all 16 again, showed toughness, and turned in the best season of his career. I know he's not elite, but he's better than he'll ever get credit for around here.
  25. + 1 Let's not forget he's playing a new position this year. This meme needs to die. It's like the Geno Smith thing where he opens the season on fire and noone notices when he cools off, only the opposite, because the D started with historically bad play, but has been a very solid unit down the stretch. Sadly, once the D showed up the offense laid down.
