  1. For every guy who doesn't make it, there comes a point when you make a determination that he isn't likely to develop into what you want. Often times it's when you're scouting him. Maybe it's when you get him in camp, preseason, or after a certain amount of game time. You obviously think that the skill set and progress you see in EJ warrants further evaluation. I actually agree, but I'm sure my leash would be considerably shorter than yours. The point is, you're really not arguing over the wisdom of developing a young QB, you're arguing the likelihood of EJ becoming that guy relative to the opportunity cost of sticking with him beyond a certain point.
  2. The way I'd put it is there is a wide gap between playing with reckless abandon and playing kitty ball. In that gap is a point where one takes calculated risks based on the circumstances. EJ needs to work on getting To that point.
  3. He basically said that it's his belief that a QB who can accomplish x will have a bright future to a high degree of certainty. It wasn't that outlandish a statement.
  4. Not cool, bro.
  5. I want to give you credit here. While I disagree with everything you've said in this post (don't want to get into that now) you may be the only person who feels this way who's willing to come right out and say it (and there are a lot[/b of people who feel the way you do). It's just really refreshing to hear someone say exactly what they mean.
  6. Oops. It was supposed to be.
  7. I feel the same way. People familiar with me may be surprised that I sympathize with them despite finding their position and actions completely illogical and unfair. I don't expect grieving parents to rationally process and react to the death of their child. I expect everyone else to. If he'd been driving high he'd have been going half the speed of the rest of the field, but at least he wouldn't have any turns to forget to take.
  8. I notice you left NE off that list.
  9. To his credit, this is great marketing. I'd heard of the guy but that's about it. Now we're all talking about him.
  10. And to call myself out on a brain fart blunder from long ago:
  11. I'm happy about it too (and I wasn't trying to single you out, you just had a post that mentioned it.) I'm just saying that it speaks to how poor the franchise has been when such a modest accomplishment is such a big deal to the fans. Put differently, I doubt fans of Balt, Pit, Hou, SD, or Den think 2-1 means much.
  12. It's a sad commentary on the state of a franchise when the fan base views being 2-1 as a substantial accomplishment.
  13. As it pertains to this conversation, yes, it's much worse. Smith expressed an opinion on a topic that others disagreed with. Simmons called out his employer publicly. Quite frankly, it's not even close. The man who gave him the suspension is not the same man who suspended Simmons.
  14. Maybe. I took it as an attempt to show their priorities are out of whack b/c they'll punish trashing Goodell harder than they'll punish abuse, as if "they" are the same people. It's worth noting that, unlike Rice & AP, Simmons' conduct was actually work related.
  15. You get em, Roy.
  16. You do realize that Roger Goodell isn't the one who suspended Simmons, right?
  17. That's interesting. I guess they're not !@#$ing around with pretense. Orton's here because he wants to take EJ's job, they both know it, and any claims to the contrary are just window dressing, but you'd think they'd front a little.
  18. Nonsense and horseshit
  19. You have Rivers listed twice you !@#$ing !@#$.
  20. I'd probably swap Rivers and Brady right now. I'd also have Cutler ahead of Romo and move Kaepernick back a spot or two. Otherwise it's pretty much how I see it. They can't help it. It's become an obsession.
  21. OK, this is why I hate fantasy. I'm looking forward to a merciless beat down of the Texans on Sunday. My friend is from Houston and I have visions of enjoying his glorious tears as Fred Jackson decimates the Texan defense, and then what do I see. My scumbag opponent, fuggin Gary, has Fred Jackson on his roster. My vicarious glory will now be tempered by the knowledge that it's aiding the enemy. Mother!@#$ing !@#$!
  22. The fact the grand jury chose not to indict strongly suggests there was never a case and it was submitted for the sole purpose of shutting up the "justice" crowd. Grand juries typically rubber stamp whatever's submitted.
  23. I'm not so sure it was a joke. He never claimed he was joking and nobody but you seemed to have picked up on this gleefully humorous bit. But thanks for taking the time to pop in to condescend from atop your high horse. I'm sure we'll all be better off for it.
  24. The tires are the things on your car that make contact with the road.
  25. Because NY has pure comparative negligence it is still possible to recover damages proportional to the % of the defendant's fault even if the victim is mostly at fault.
