  1. That was better. You gave some supporting information to explain why you feel the way you do, but if I may be honest, you explained only why you may have certain subjective views based on your experience rather than any objective reasoning that explains why the course of action you've suggested is the most reasonable. I'm sorry you experienced that and I in no way wish to minimize or be dismissive of that. But your experience doesn't make you right. And I'm sorry, but opinions are not equal. An informed and well supported opinion is superior to an uninformed and unsupported opinion. I'm not saying your opinion is either, it may be the clearest and most accurate opinion anyone here has on the subject, you just haven't stated and supported it sufficiently to make that clear.
  2. I see I got someone's panties in a bunch. Let me correct you here. My opinions are superior to those who can't back theirs up. IIRC you're more of a hit and run type who states your opinion, then disappears. If you can't explain your opinion it's no more valuable than the pennies in your pocket.
  3. Our government is a republic. It operates according to democratic principles, but it is not a democracy.
  4. Yuengling black & tan used to me my go to about a decade ago when they dropped the price locally to about $8 a 12 pack. Then one day I had a Saranac black and tan. Since that day I've not been able to stomach Yuengling.
  5. How now Brown cow? Seriously, if you don't know ask in the other thread; I'm not going to dominate this one. It's borderline crusading at this point.
  6. We don't have a democracy.
  7. You're kind of right. I have been asking the same 2 or 3 questions that no one seems to be able to answer. What's fun about you is you don't answer the question but you act like you got it right anyway. It's cute.
  8. I thought Kevin was damn it?
  9. Chester! You're back. It's been kinda boring without someone to kick around. I see you still don't get my point, but that's okay. Logic and reason were never going to work with you anyway.
  10. I'm down. I'm willing to give Maryland everything north of Fredricksburg.
  11. Miller Lite since they brought back the old cans.
  12. Stop acting like a little milk toast B word.
  13. The Bills D of the late 90s didn't generate that many sacks because they got the opponent off the field too quickly to rack up stats.
  14. That's the worst. I sat Gates this weekend for Kyle Rudolph. I'd be kicking myself right now if I hadn't led all teams in points this week. Yeah!!
  15. I think he's talking about the time we had a PPP competition and my opponent pussed out. Rumor has it he's been lurking around here lately using a new handle.
  16. So you're using the Spiderman argument. With great power comes great responsibility [to shape cultural morality according birddog1960's priorities.]
  17. Flip side is abuse victims and parents of abuse victims may be far more hesitant to get help for fear of losing their meal ticket.
  18. So the average child/wife abuser is going to base his conduct on the penalties handed down to athletes by the league? That's your theory?
  19. Again, we're talking about punishment. Not sure what you don't get about that. Your analogy is nonsensical. Preventing a drunk pilot from flying and thus putting passengers in harm's way is not categorically similar to preventing a football player from playing because he did something bad.
  20. Now you're just trying to confuse the issue. I'm not arguing that they wouldn't care if people were harmed, but that's not remotely related to what we're talking about. We're talking about punishment. Try to stay on point. Edit: Interesting how you reverted to your typical fall back of claiming moral high ground wen you have nothing of substance to offer.
  21. Wonderful. Let's appeal to the least rational impulses of people and encourage them to act on them.
  22. That's the crux of it all. I don't understand why anyone would claim they had a moral duty in the first place. Even if they did, who would the duty be to? Also, whose morality are they to apply and how do they determine what would be the most moralistic penalty? It still goes to protecting their business. Only a fool would argue it was done as punishment for moral purposes.
