  1. I'm going to leave you to play with that straw man all by yourself.
  2. Never said they did. You're twisting this discussion away from what it was and I'm going to stop now before I get pissed off.
  3. It's different in a lot of ways. First, the coach is the leader of the team in a way that no player is. Second, the player doesn't encourage the coach to sacrifice his well being for that of the team. I also see it as different because it's not like his status was up in the air. He talked as though he was coming back up until the 11th hour. He was contracted to coach for 4 years. He had an escape clause that allowed him to quit and he exercised it.
  4. I'm sure you can think of situations where it does. I have friends who went into business together and ultimately exercised buy out options they had agreed to. Exercising those options wasn't what impugned their characters, it was how they went about it. If someone misrepresents their position to me it compromises their credibility with me even if they didn't outright lie or violate the agreement.
  5. Which still doesn't change the fact that he quit. You're arguing his right to quit and/or the wisdom of doing so, but no matter how good his explanation is, it doesn't change the undeniable fact that he did quit.
  6. It can. Depends on how it's done.
  7. Doesn't change the fact that he quit.
  8. The thread wasn't about being pissed, it was about his credibility as a HC. He's starting to develop a pattern of cutting out early. There's a reason companies are cautious about applicants who bounce from company to company every year or two. It's his decision if he wants to be an opportunist, but if you know you're dealing with someone who's only out for #1 with no sense of loyalty, that knowledge will probably factor in to how/If you do business with them.
  9. And when doing business people consider the character and trustworthiness of people they do business with.
  10. I'm not sure how this is even a question. What argument could one possibly make that he didn't?
  11. I'm tired of d-bags who refer to straight talk as "classless." If that's "classless" then class is overrated.
  12. I liked Marrone, but knowing what I know now, I hope he dies or fails miserably, He's already dead to me anyway.
  13. I do think EJ has a chance of success, but only if he: A. Uses his legs. Running was a big part of his game in college and a big part of what made him appealing as a pro. Without the running ability he's a poor man's Trent Edwards. With it He could be dangerous B. Wins the job outright. He'll never believe he's legit and neither will his teammates if he wins the job by default. If he earns it he'll have respect. I don't like the idea of going into camp with him as the presumed starter, but I'm glad he's in the mix.
  14. I see some things coming too, and I'm almost never wrong about these things. - We're going to sign another QB - We're going to sign a DE. It will be Hughes or someone else. - If Henderson is moved to LT Glen will either move inside or to RT. You heard it here first, and you're welcome.
  15. You so crave the opportunity to be a self-righteous blow hard. If you look at this situation in a vacuum your point would be well taken, but taken in the context that the police were the targets of trumped up accusations of institutional racism (an accusation not supported by facts or evidence) and instead of appealing to reason to calm the crowds, the dick head mayor stoked the flames, it's really not too difficult to understand why they'd be pissed.
  16. Our QBs tend to take what the defense gives them. Winston takes what he wants.
  17. Manuel will have a chance to win the starting job and if he does then that's great, but his future success is far from being a sure thing. Any belief to the contrary is wishful thinking.
  18. If Michael Sam liked kitty would this thread exist?
  19. Probably threw the game to !@#$ Cleveland.
  20. No. It's a nationwide epidemic.
  21. So far it's looking like JFF. And Anthony Barr. I REALLY wanted no part of that guy.
  22. Both the respect and ire of your fellow posters.
  23. I think you greatly overestimate the amount of this supposed development that's likely to take place in this game. It might be better in the long run to wait until he's ready before throwing him out there again.
  24. They were a disappointment but my overall outlook on the season will be effected by Sunday's outcome.
