The guy growing pot in his closet, for one. -

Because implicit in your assessment is the belief that he who knowingly breaks the rules deserves the consequences regardless of whether said consequences are are proportional to the (im)morality of the violation. I think people with that outlook could benefit from seeing someone they care about suffer severe consequences for breaking a rule that doesn't hurt anyone. Edit: Also, the kids in prison thing is a bit of hyperbole. My dad's like you and I don't think I deserve to go to prison to fix his outlook. -

I hope you have kids and I hope they serve long prison sentences for non-violent drug offenses. -

I truly hate people like you. This is pretty rich coming from you. -
Browns seem done with Johnny Manziel; enters rehab

There's a significant contingency of Bills fans that think you can only have 1 potentially good QB on your roster at a time. -

It seems like the problems he's having are primarily behavior related. Most of us who thought he would succeed based that belief on his talent. Hearing that he was arrogant and liked to party isn't necessarily that big a red flag. How were we supposed to know how severe his attitude and drinking problems were? -
Orton was the best QB we've had in a decade. Yes, I realize it's not saying much, but for a guy to sign off the street 10 minutes before the start of the season, come off the bench to go 7-5 and post an 87.8 QB Rating at a position that sees guys like Cutler & Bradford bringing in close to $20 mm/yr, then yeah, I think he played up to and maybe even above his pay grade.

I don't know how similar Rex's defense is to Pettine's, but I'd hate so see our D getting gashed by the run like that again. I figure Rex is familiar with Spikes, both having been in the AFCE for years, and thus knows what his value is in his defense. So I assume it will work out for the best either way. But I do like the idea of having a guy that can clog up those running lanes when you need it. That's starting to sound like the makings of a defense that could be legendary.

Dareus to not get extension....yet
Rob's House replied to BeastMode54's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Because production is normally higher after signing a big guaranteed contract than in a contract year? -

Given his arrest history I'd say that's a smart move. Buy a little time to make sure you don't end up with a mountain of cash tied up in a guy who gets himself suspended for a year. -
Bills parting ways with CJ Spiller? - NFL Insiders on ESPN
Rob's House replied to K D's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I never agreed with those people. I thought Chan knew what he was doing on offense and squeezed just about as much production as he could out of a squad with mediocre talent. -
Bills parting ways with CJ Spiller? - NFL Insiders on ESPN
Rob's House replied to K D's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I don't think Spiller can be an all purpose back, but there are things he can do that others can't and those things might work better in Roman's offense. I always thought starting CJ and sprinkling in stronger backs was an ass backwards way of using him. In a power scheme that wears down the defense with strong RBs plowing between the tackles it makes it hard for a defense to adjust when you bring in someone with the speed of Spiller. I don't want to throw big money at him, but I'd be very interested to see how effective he can be under the new regime. And FTR, I never turned on Marrone until he skipped town, but that "run him until he pukes" line always bothered me. -
I guess he says he was a highly rated prospect that they took a chance on that hasn't worked out but they still have hopes for? I'm not a "Whaley can do no wrong" type, but missing on a second rounder is not that big a deal. Trashing him for that is like trashing a QB because he threw an INT. It happens to everyone.

It's basically an additional $5k over what a comparable cruise would cost. Even if I had extra $5ks just laying around I still wouldn't do it just on principle. Yeah, it would be cool to meet those guys, but paying that much for the honor reeks of star struck hero worship which is not consistent with self-respect and dignity.

Richard Sherman confirms what we all knew
Rob's House replied to Golden Wheels's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I like to rip Brady as much as the next guy, but I can't honestly rip him for that without knowing the details. Sure, on the surface it sounds bad, and maybe he was a scumbag, but maybe she was a crazy B word. Plus, it's not like he left this poor woman to fend for herself. IIRC she was a model too. -

I'm out at a karaoke bar and some ads hole's butchering Tiny Dancer. There ought to be a law against that. -
$20K or a trip to the Super Bowl

If It were the Bills, it would be tough, but I think I'd take the cash. You can go through a lot of hookers and blow with $20k. -
Upcoming Contracts to Consider
Rob's House replied to Rob's House's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Those rookie contracts (they were actually rookies last year) expire in 4 years. I was thinking about the landscape over the next five years and how this year's signing affects next year's signing, and so on. For example, if we had Levitre and Byrd under contract (most people looked at those situations looking no more than a year ahead) we'd probably have no chance of keeping Hughes and some of the guys on that list. Not sure what your problem is. To date most of them are and we're still not winning. It looks like we're going to lose some of those guys along the way. I'm not sure how we're going to have the cap space to re-sign even most of them, and hopefully we'll have to accommodate a significant QB contract in the next 4-5 years too. I'm just curious how we're going to go about dealing with it. -

Tiny Dancer in Almost Famous might well be the best use of a song in any movie ever. Even more than Freedom isn't Free in Team America. I like the use of the Pina Colada song here: Dirty Work (Farley, Lange, Norm) Bar Fight & Fra: http://youtu.be/4N_Erfo160g -
Brady to the Bills ????? Possibility?
Rob's House replied to plenzmd1's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I just can't imagine it. It would just feel so wrong. Cheering for Brady I'd feel like pre-time travel George Mcfly kissing Biff's ass. I don't even want to think about it. -

I thought it was worth looking out 4 years. We've pretty thoroughly discussed the situation as it exists over the next 18 months. -

I kind of thought the same about Woods and Brown. With guys like Urbik, Chandler, and to a lesser extent Mclovin, it feels to me like the bulk of whatever you save on their salaries you're going to have to reallocate to role players and/or their replacements. I'm just having trouble reconciling it all in my head. -
Over the next 4 years we have some key players that will be awfully expensive to retain. Cordy Glenn Marcel Dareus Stephon Gilmore Kiko Alonso Robert Woods Preston Brown Sammy Watkins Assuming these guys continue to play up to what one would expect based on their performance thus far, I would estimate their salaries will amount to somewhere in the vicinity of $70 mil/yr. Over that period we'll likely drop Kyle Williams salary, Mario's will probably go down quite a bit, and the salary cap will certainly rise a bit; but I don't see how that will free up that kind of cash, and we'll also need to find a QB over that time as well. Can the FO realistically keep the core of the team together for the next 5+ years, and if so, how?
