  1. Did he specifically refer only to the black players? And are you really dumb enough to think "dancing monkey" is a racist term or are you intentionally conflating a well known race neutral figure of speech for mindless entertainers with something nefarious as an excuse to climb up on your soapbox and cry racism?
  2. Just to clarify, I think single payer would be a disaster. I'm just getting to the point that I'd rather do away with the whole medical industry and risk death rather than sacrifice all else for !@#$ing medical insurance. Anything can look awesome if you only look at one side of the equation.
  3. Health care isn't exempt from the basic laws of economics. You can't increase demand while holding supply relatively constant without a corresponding increase in price. And prices are soaring. A catastrophic plan costs more now than a standard plan did 10 years ago. The costs are hurting a lot of people in a very real way. This is by design. If the mechanism in place is allowed to continue it will collapse. At this point single payer would be better. The quality of service will suffer, but middle class people will be able to live without being slaves to the medical industrial complex. When your medical insurance costs as much as your mortgage something is very wrong.
  4. The way you talk about this guy you'd think he was Jonathan Williams. And as bad as this may be for the Bills, can you imagine how the poor suckers that drafted this guy in fantasy must feel right now?
  5. To the thread title, if I need to shoot someone I'd prefer more guns to no gun. This seems to support the theory that less guns wouldn't affect suicide rates. People just use a different method.
  6. You guys don't know Mojo Nixon and your posts could use some fixin.
  7. I think you're thinking of Mojo Nixon.
  8. If we had Jonathan Williams we'd be 5-0 right now.
  9. I find the proposal of secession far less offensive than this "protest". If California wants to do its own thing then more power to them. But any douchebag who wants to publicly deride our culture as being overtly racist and oppressive can go fu©k his mother.
  10. I agree with him. What is the point of this? It's not like they put her in because they thought she'd improve the broadcast; they did it for "diversity". And she was awful. At first I didn't realize it was a woman and immediately commented on the horrible high-pitch voice of the announcer. She added nothing of value in the way of analysis or insight. This was a publicity stunt, no question.
  11. These last few pages have been a fun read. A few thoughts: - Newton's comment was clearly light-hearted and meant to be said for the sake of humor. It was just a poor delivery in the wrong forum. - 3rd wave feminism isn't about equality; it's about denying the innate differences between women and men. - A man's level of outrage at latent sexism tends to be inversely related to his success with women. - A man's hostility towards women is also inversely related to his success with them. - If a player cannot be criticised for exercising his free speech to denigrate the country he cannot be criticised for using his free speech to marginalize a reporter.
  12. !@#$! I forgot about that. Damn yous! I don't disagree with your broader point, and I never fault a player for putting himself first (I'd rather double my income than see the Bills win too), but I can also understand coaches trying to change the culture from a perennial loser to one with a team-first outlook trying to get value for a guy that isn't buying in and who they don't think wants to be there and/or won't re-sign. That doesn't mean he can't be an asset to a successful team, but I can see why he wasn't part of their plan.
  13. The only one of those guys to ever win a SB was Keyshawn and that was after his ego was largely deflated. It's understandable from a personal standpoint that Watkins would have these feelings, but that doesn't necessarily mean you want that in your locker room. Especially when you're trying to change the culture with a team-first mentality.
  14. He has a first amendment right to tell unfunny jokes.
  15. What I find most offensive about this is the lack of respect for Cam Newton's free speech.
  16. Interesting tidbit on perceptions of racism. https://www.creators.com/read/larry-elder/12/14/crippling-children-by-selling-them-racism
  17. The commies at youtube hate free speech. http://www.theamericanmirror.com/youtube-demonetizing-videos-embarrassing-democrats/
  18. The fact that this isn't common knowledge is an indictment of the education system.
  19. I would just like to extend my deepest condolences to DC Tom. You will get through this.
  20. I'd recommend getting an amplified digital antenna. It's worth the extra $$.
  21. Sometimes there's a man... I won't say a hero, 'cause, what's a hero? But sometimes, there's a man. And I'm talkin' about Kyle Orton here. Sometimes, there's a man, well, he's the man for his time and place. He fits right in there. And that's Kyle Orton, in Buffalo. And even if he's an apprehensive man - and Kyle Orton was most certainly that. Quite possibly the most apprehensive QB in Buffalo, which would place him high in the runnin' for most apprehensive league-wide. But sometimes there's a man, sometimes, there's a man. Aw. I lost my train of thought here. But... aw, hell. I've done introduced him enough.
  22. I'm not denying its existence every time it comes up, but I have a healthy sense of skepticism because the overwhelming majority of such allegations are baseless. Therefore, I'm not taking those allegations at face value. This particular incident is just one of countless examples.
  23. It's a matter of credibility and the left has none on this issue.
