  1. I don't think that's true. No one gets worked up over Indians and they're brown. I think he just exploited a fringe controversy.
  2. I agree with this. I used to work with a black guy who told me in all seriousness that the white man was the devil. He was a decent guy - acted pleasant, never hurt or mistreated anyone that I'm aware of - but had a !@#$ed up belief system
  3. Muslim isn't a race.
  4. Can you explain how it was related to race?
  5. If you wanted to make a point entirely unrelated to the one I was making why did you quote my post? The point was that if people were really that concerned about players losing their jobs for controversial speech on PRINCIPLE they would have a consistent position when people lost their jobs for speech they disagree with. They don't, therefore they are not standing on principle.
  6. Way to dodge the point. Now you're not arguing for free speech, you're arguing what speech should be allowed.
  7. But is that their reality or confirmation bias? I see people all the time who think they've been unfairly treated because of race when the reality is that anyone would have received the same treatment. A lot of minorities, particularly in the black community are taught from a young age that they have a target on their backs due to historical prejudices. With higher crime rates in black communities there is more interaction with police. It's easy to see how perception could be inconsistent with reality. Sure, statistics can be manipulated, but if we're going to take action to cure a social ill I think it's important to make sure we have the correct diagnosis. A Harvard study set out to show that blacks were disproportionately likely to be shot by police but the opposite conclusion was found. If we want to have a real and meaningful discussion on the issue we should consider all the evidence objectively and see where it leads us.
  8. If these people really believed in this principle they'd be outraged that people lost their jobs for attending the march on Charlottesville. In principle that is even more outrageous as those people protested on their own time whereas these athletes do it in uniform on company time and on company property. They don't believe in freedom of speech, only in freedom of speech they agree with
  9. Can you cite some racist comments he's made?
  10. Honest question, what is that based on. I've done a fair amount of research on the topic and the evidence I've found suggests that the problem, at least on a national level is either non-existent or at best overblown. Do you have evidence that suggests otherwise?
  11. Virtue-signaling 101: Never miss an opportunity to cry racism.
  12. Who's offended? There's one group that is [reported to be] so emotionally distraught that they need a group therapy session because Trump hurt their feelings, and another bunch of people ridiculing them. And you think those ridiculing them are the snowflakes?
  13. Maybe they should rename the team. The Buffalo Snowflakes seems fitting.
  14. I didn't even see that, which just goes to show how pervasive it is. It's in the pre-game show, play by play, player intervies, all over every type of sports news. On week 1 before the game they spent more time talking about Kaepernick than the games. If I turned off all of it there wouldn't be much left.
  15. I think he just misses the days of having an unapologetic racist in the white house. Obama love dies hard.
  16. That's kind of my point. When I'm watching Glen Gary Glen Ross or Outside Providence I can enjoy Alec Baldwin for a phenomenal peformance without being beaten over the head with his politics. It's getting to the point where you can't watch or follow the NFL without being bombarded with it. It's not just the anthem, it's any issue they can work in, and it's everywhere. Plus, a big part of being a fan is cheering for your favorite players. It's hard to cheer for someone who keeps going out of his way to remind me that I don't like him. I can cheer for a player with different politics, but this is getting ridiculous.
  17. I don't generally give a damn about player's politics. I always assume are uninformed statists who swallowed the PC identity politics narrative that's been fed to them since they learned to talk, but I don't really care. I don't think about it. But if every time I tune in I have to be reminded that I'm cheering for morons while constantly being berated with whiney political retardation and false narratives it stops being fun. It's not about outrage so much as it is no longer enjoying the product.
  18. Jesus Christ. !@#$ these whiney pu$$ies. I'm out.
  19. Any thoughts on how to quantify the problem?
  20. Are you a minority begging for grievances or a white virtue-signaling kitty boy?
  21. It's fine to want to improve aspects of society, but living in the most egalitarian culture in the history of the world while carrying on with histrionics as though we're living under a racial caste system is a little silly.
  22. Honestly, this whole thing is really pathetic. I know everyone wants to find some purpose to give their lives meaning, but if the best thing you can come up with is to rail against racism, sexism, and homophobia in 21st century western culture, your purpose is pretty weak.
  23. I'm thinking I might stop following football altogether (and wishing I hadn't paid for Sunday ticket this year). Watching a bunch of entitled, self-righteous millionaires with double digit IQs constantly playing the victim and/or "protesting" things they know very little about isn't my idea of entertainment. If I want to follow political discourse there are far better sources than the NFL.
  24. Do you have any empirical evidence to support this assertion, or is it just an article of faith?
