  1. When they are as important to the sound as Moon and Entwhistle were. 3 dead members of New York Dolls--but it's the loss of Johnny Thunders that keeps them from actually the New York Dolls. Last night there were more non Who members on stage than actual Whoateers. At some point the name, and what it stands for, has to stand for something. Otherwise you end up with KISS putting random dudes in Ace Frehley makeup. Right now the Who is a nostalgia based moneymaking scheme. Call me a purist or naive or whatever, but I find Who, inc depressing.
  2. maybe, but he isn't being paid millions of dollars to front something that it insists it is The Who. man I love The Who, but that mess last night was not The Who
  3. Aerosmith may not be a band anymore. Steven Tyler is apparently filing a lawsuit to keep them from hiring a new singer.
  4. I thought it was dull because of the obscene amount of commercial breaks. After about 2 hours it felt like I had seen maybe 10 minutes of football and 30 of doritos fetishism. Actually being at the game must be insufferable. Pay $500 to watch people stand around waiting to play.
  5. My money is on Bon Jovi. Safe, popular and anthemic. NFL is quickly running out of popular bands with widespread appeal. Super depressing since there only appears to be like 9 of them.
  6. I'm the exact opposite opinion of everyone else of the planet when it comes to his solo stuff. maybe it's because I listened to the Pixies to death in high school, but I love the solo albums. They are actually some of my favorite records. Ever. I have yet to have anyone agree with me on this, but I'll put Teenager of the Year, Bluefinger, Dog in the Sand and Black Letter Days up against anything the Pixies did. And I am borderline obsessed with the Pixies.
  7. Did anyone else get the impression that the scream from "won't get fooled again" was pre-taped. Throughout the entire performance the camera was close to the band, but during the scream the shot was from like the last row of the upper deck. Plus it sounded a lot better than the rest of Daltrey's vocals. the whole set reminded me of this time I was at a ribs fest in Pittsburgh. I was making fun of the band playing for covering so many Grand Funk Railroad songs. Badly. The band turned out to be Grand Funk Railroad.
  8. awesome, glad I could help
  9. They really sounded awful. So depressing seeing Townsend miss all those notes and Daltrey sound like half the singer he once was. I saw them in 1997 and they kind of killed it...think there should be some rule that says once half the band dies the band can no longer be a band. see: New York Dolls
  10. hells yes! brilliant call
  11. james carr terry reid otis redding bob dylan i get made fun of for the dylan thing, but I mean it. his voice is pure affectation that perfectly suits his material. Go back and listen to an album like "desire." amazing vocal performance...a lot of heart and pain in that voice
  12. yeah, you watch movies in half hour increments... seriously though, I had a similar problem. I found hitting pause, and then hitting play when I was ready to start watching again would kick me back to the main menu. But hitting the pause button when I wanted to unpause let me start right back up where I left off. Hopefully your machine is the same.
  13. oh man, a dome? No way. I can not see the Bills ever becoming a dome team.
  14. are you kidding? Mormons are known for their jazz.
  15. Love Scarlet Street. Such an amazing movie. A brilliant under the radar film he did was The Red House. A Delmer Daves film like 1940-whatever. There is a very weird continual subtext going down throughout the whole narrative. Strange and amazing film.
  16. yeah, I didn't feel bad at all. Unless relief and optimism is bad
  17. I can't imagine what teams would get dropped. the Lions are pointless, but have a long history. Cleveland didn't accept losing their team lying down last time. Rams maybe? I don't know, who do you think would be phased out?
  18. I bet they totally change their name. LA Jaguars doesn't make any sense. Actually kind of sounds like one of those fake teams from Any Given Sunday
  19. so he's one dimensional? pass. a runner who has not played a full sixty in 5 years? We can't risk what will happen after he starts taking the hits. Wherever he lands, if it is as an every down QB I honestly would be shocked if he lasted 5 games. Not worth the risk at all.
  20. Depends on how deep your man love for Harry Dean goes but seriously, he deserves the Oscar every year. Even if he wasn't in a movie
  21. ha, harry dean kills it in that movie. WOLVERINES! 10/11 for 91% Pretty good for not having seen any of those movies in ten years
  22. only one good season with the falcons (2004) the other years they were mediocre at best mediocre stats disgrace of a human being has not played a full 60 minutes in like 5 years I really don't see how this works. Bills pick him up in 2003? That makes sense. Hasn't played a full game since 2006? That doesn't make sense. Let's find a football player to play football for us.
  23. they are going out this summer with Testament and Slayer (sorry). I saw Testament with Motorhead a couple years ago and they were fine. felt a bit lethargic to me, like they've resigned themselves to being the opening act for metal nostalgia shows. Slayer I am obviously very excited to see.
  24. Don't forget about the running power of Green Arrow....dude comes back to life like every ten years. You can't cover that. I call it for DC
