  1. I disagree. I understand this is not a popular thought, but I believe DiMarco is in at fullback. Short yardage situations and getting seven in the red zone are critical. Shady's two yard TD run against Carolina was not an exciting highlight, because it looked so routine. Shady got to the end zone (I believe) untouched. If you look at when he crossed, you'll see DiMarco sealing the right side of the hole, taking out a linebacker. That's the difference between 7 and 3. Not sexy, just winning football.
  2. I'm smarter for having read this. Thank you for putting it together!
  3. ^^^ This, completely. McDermott took on a team two years ago that was famous for 20 years of dysfunction. He, with Beane, has been building and shaping the entire organization into one of thoughtful, forward-looking and strategic precision. I am optimistic about this year and even more excited about our long-term prospects. They're doing this right.
  4. This would make a great bills shirt. Gray with the Bills logo above your red lettered quote, "Let's do Good Stuff!!!" I'm in for an XL
  5. Gosh, I sure do wish we would have gone all in on Antonio Brown. It would be GREAT to have him right now. :/
  6. Why would we? By his own admission he was a poor teammate and a bit of a diva. While we were not a good football team at the time, his departure did not cost us. In fact, the trade returns contributed more than his performance did.
  7. Does this indicate they're no longer accusing him of the attack, or orchestrating it? Just looking at the potential bright side.
  8. Isn't it great to finally have a coach the we can be confident in? I understand there are those who don't like McDermott. But you cannot deny that he will think everything through and be prepared.
  9. NFL 2019: Five players who are poised to make the leap and become Year 2 breakouts This isn't a surprise to Bills fans. But, it is fun to see the national media recognize it. One positive that strikes me about our defense, is how well-balanced it is in age. Youth, and the future core, is served with Edmunds, Oliver, Milano and White. Meanwhile, our veterans, still in their prime, with Hughes, Poyer and Hyde, are leading the way. We are set up for a 5-7 year run as one of the NFL's dominant defenses.
  10. I don't bet, too chicken. But wow, the Bills line seems like such easy pickings.
  11. Well, that's your call. Taking a full view of last year, including the massive dead cap we ate while starting a rookie "project" quarterback, I view the team's development and late season momentum/excitement as outperforming expectations. Let's agree to disagree.
  12. In this case, "quickly" refers to this season, with the extreme roster turnover. I have not kept track of the free agent numbers. But (putting my Captain Obvious hat on), our totally revamped offensive line and new receivers will need to come together, quickly. I see that as, along with JA's continuing development, the coaching staff's biggest challenge this year. As I said, McDermott's performance in the first two years bodes well. Regarding your view of McDermott as a plodder; - In year one, observers universally predicted a Bills tank. We made the playoffs. - In year two, the team was built on a fraction of the salary cap. Rather than collapsing with the resulting lack of talent, the team came together and improved throughout the year. The Bills' positive current and future state is a result of managing through those two years of pain. McDermott is not a plodder. He is a high quality NFL head coach and a true leader.
  13. https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/top-10-head-coaches-in-nfl-bill-belichick-still-reigns-but-who-fills-out-the-rest-of-the-list/ I believe the Bills significantly out performed expectations in '17 & '18, due in no small part to McDermott's leadership and coaching. It seems that CBS agrees. With the current roster overhaul, McDermott is facing a huge challenge to put it all together, and quickly. From what I've seen to date, I am confident he will. 2019 is a real "Coach of the Year" opportunity in Bills Country.
  14. Regarding Bieber, any chance he's messing with us? He's going to get abused in the locker room.
  15. Exactly. And, on top of that, Morse is widely thought of as a very smart guy. Therefore, if he says it, I believe he means it.
  16. You made me laugh out loud AND my head hurt at the same time. Well done!
  17. Ha, thanks. Here's a phrase I'll bet we agree on - Go Bills! Have a great weekend!
  18. I don't know Bill, your "Serious question" quickly devolves into a defensive rant. Despite that, I'll give a brief, somewhat serious answer: - I did not critique a poster, merely his argumentative responses in this discussion. - I also did not critique this site (which I very much enjoy), merely the argumentative responses in this discussion - You are correct, I rarely post. When I do, it is usually supportive of the conversation at hand. That's just my personality. - Finally, I am sorry to read that BADOLBILZ may have forgotten a lot of football. I hope he gets his memory back. Does being from NYC, Bill, contribute to your effervescent style of communications?
  19. Fair enough. We all have our tastes. If BADOLBILZ had a point beyond just arguing, I too would enjoy the back and forth.
  20. Honestly Coach, I haven't found this to be "good discourse" at all. While JW is sharing his (quality) thoughts and information, BADOLBILZ has petulantly and pointlessly argued with every post, as if taking on a sportswriter is providing 15 minutes of fame. I look forward to what JW has to share and have had to tolerate BADOLBILZ' (I want ice cream!!!!!!) grade school level responses to read it.
  21. Bring back Fred Flinstone and Barney Rubble as Water Buffaloes on the video screen.
  22. Too funny. We simultaneously wrote the same thing, using different words. I approve of this message.
  23. I do not believe this is a "minor" point. I agree with you, emphatically. In a quality learning environment, self-critical thinking is imperative and accountability is a key to improvement. As much as I (we) like Allen, we all know he must learn and improve - quite a bit. He obviously has the physical tools. His willingness to admit and own his mistakes and growth opportunities are what will propel him to excellence as an NFL quarterback. It also is what will make him a credible leader in a locker room full of alpha males. In this way, I think he is remarkably like McDermott. Color me excited.
