  1. I watched every Clemson game this year and Etienne looked like he'd already lost something. He went from 7.8 ypc down to 5.4 ypc and seemed to just not be able to blow by that first tackler like he had early in his career. I wasn't impressed.
  2. They won't be SB caliber for long if they draft for need and ignore positional value. I was thrilled when the Chiefs took CEH in round 1 last year........RB availability does not move the Vegas line for a reason. As fun as it is to see a RB who can break a few long ones and average over 5 yards per carry..........your average pass attempt should be 7-8 yards if you have a good QB. Handing the ball off is not your best play as much as it is just a necessity to do a certain % of the time.........and that fraction of a yard difference between an average one and an outstanding one just isn't that impactful over the course of a season.
  3. That vert is bad for Etienne and Rodgers.........Allen's placement on passes to RB's is not one of his better attributes........and Singletary(35" vert) has a bigger catch radius than Etienne.
  4. If they make the wrong decision and take a running back early I hope they at least don't put the process on "Bills embedded" like when Beane hungrily jumped up for Cody Ford. Passing on DK and AJ (oh and Elgton Jenkins @Logic) was bad enough. This isn't 1988.......taking a RB early is a BAD play.
  5. Dawkins and Glenn turned out to be solid, top half of league left tackles..........but indeed, they could have been All Pro level guards.........so let's not lump that in with the Duke Williams to TE talk. As for Edmunds.......he was an OLB at VA Tech and that's where he should have stayed. See the difference between Haason Reddick this past season as an edge versus him playing off the ball more. He went from cut candidate to franchise tag candidate. I agree on Butler though. And IMO they basically held auditions for the 1T position during the season and Butler was the only one who did what was asked of him.........which was mostly about "want-to" because even an undersized 3T could give you some quality snaps at DT1T with the heavy rotation they were using. Butler took one for the team.......he had to know a Lotulelei-esque stat-line wasn't going to be good for his financial bottom line.
  6. Bam Johnson hasn't been mentioned......I think he still has a lot of upside and with a proper offseason maybe he makes that jump.
  7. Yeah haven't seen @Kirby Jackson in about that same amount of time as well.
  8. He is so intriguing for this offense. The only fit problem is that he's another small receiver and I think they ultimately need a couple huge catch radius guys in the offense to lean on when they have those days where the weather is making it hard to be pinpoint accurate.
  9. You may be right that they MAY have cut Murphy if they didn't have to use a rotation of 3T's at 1T. But remember he was coming off a 3 sack playoff game and they might have still been thinking last September that he was going to be that rangy 9 sack guy he was at his best in Washington. Of course they also re-found Zimmer because Star opted out.
  10. Defending passes alone doesn't really discourage QB's though. I think the information is out there that Edmunds simply isn't going to intercept or force a fumble if you throw at him..........so QB's attacked him more fearlessly this year. We saw QB's throwing at him when he was actually in good coverage.......with excellent results.........his passer rating against was ghastly. Call it a latter day case of "Thomas Smith syndrome". I also wonder if experience hasn't taken aggressiveness out of his game. He's a shadow of the playmaker that he was as a rookie......... in GAME ONE of his career he showed his potential with a TFL/strip fumble play. That's somehow still probably the highlight play of his career. It's criminal the way they waste his potential in the middle. People who doubt that.........look at the astonishing difference that putting Reddick on the LOS made to his productivity. Edmunds should be an absolute stud pass rusher. I thought he was the best PR prospect in that draft and I wasn't alone in that thought, even on this board. Speaking of that.........anyone know whatever happed to @thebandit27?
  11. Exactly........he was coming off a 6 sack season and was slated to replace Phillips. But they also signed Jefferson.........not yet knowing they would get a regular contributor at DE in Epenesa in the draft. So as it turned out Jefferson's fit was better at 3T. I think they tried to find another DT in season and they found a big contributor in the smallish Justin Zimmer. So Butler really got stuck with more 1TDT duty than he likely signed up for. And he entirely replaced Star Lotulelei in those snaps. Not a popular opinion because people want a reason for the ypc going up against the run..........but they had a MUCH, MUCH tougher schedule........they also lost 3 guys who made a lot of plays behind the LOS in 2019.........without Alexander they played more 4-2-5 and the "2" in that equation were banged up for much of the season. Butler in and Jefferson out fits what I saw on the field.
  12. He is a playmaker.......which is so undervalued on this board, IMO. I am down on Edmunds because he makes NONE. If they start calling offensive holding again Reddick might see a bump too. Perhaps not as much as the big targets who are easier to grab without it look like an absolute mugging.......but nonetheless that kind of sack production in a season where the OL was allowed to tackle DL was impressive. I think the Bills were in on him in that draft too if I recall those rumors. I doubt he falls in their price range but intriguing weapon.
  13. I'd like him back too..........cheap.......unless they can replace what he does with someone considerably better(Samuel) or with a combination of a cheaper UFA and draft pick that can more reliably return kicks. As much as I'd love to get Samuel I would like to see them continue to get bigger at WR depth. It's great having guys who can get separation but the catch radius of this WR corps is not ideal and we saw how bad the wind at the Ralph can be late in the season. Be nice if Josh could intentionally under throw the ball in situations like that Baltimore game(which was crazy because there was very little air movement in the stands). @Logic was lamenting that we passed on Elgton Jenkins to take Cody Ford........LOL.........the huge loss was passing on Metcalf. He would be the ideal Z receiver for this offense/climate. And we'd still probably have Teller then too.
  14. Had Edmunds been kept at OLB that $15M option # might look like a bargain and be incentive for Edmunds to sign a long term extension as the teams primary pass rusher. If he weren't then he would be viewed as nothing less than a likely bust by this point. You gotta' be an absolute top of the league BEAST to be worth that kind of money at MLB.
  15. Going to be very interesting watching the Saints try to get under the cap the next 7 days. Sanders is a veritable deck chair.
  16. This is very important IMO. They aren't going to be able to just run it back. The league adapted to them and exploited their weaknesses in the playoffs. They have significant room to improve and grow in several areas and may need to improve in all of them just to get back to being that 30 ppg team again in 2021.
  17. In general I agree with this but we've gone from the cheapest tickets under Ralph to closer to middle of the pack so it's not the same "bargain" level as it once was. Where we get a bargain is not being up-charged for the fact that the market doesn't create as much endorsement and luxury seating revenue potential.
  18. The simplest answer is leadership deficiency on all levels. Poor stewardship from the owners. A like-able coach whose plan really doesn't fit the personnel or translate to the ice. Something like Rex trying to force his D on Schwartz personnel. A lack of leadership on the ice. The effort early in the season was not complete enough to execute the system on either end..........now it's just woeful.
  19. Yeah great intentions but awkward and unnecessary at best.
  20. I think it was a C word. Fortunately Beane has been adept at saying the right thing. Polian couldn't contain his opinions.
  21. Actually they eschewed the advice of the league.....which was to hire a football czar like Bill Polian..........hired Rex then cut bait.......and then hired a guy with zero experience as a HC at any level and a grass-green personnel man as GM. Beane had only been assisting in the Carolina personnel department for 2 seasons. But I know what you are saying.........the Sabres are such a mess that clarity on how to fix it is difficult to find.
  22. No, the way the contract was set up........including the pay cut.........it was pretty obvious that they didn't see him in the plans for 2021. They didn't miss Star in 2020. Defensively, what they really missed was the incredibly easy 2019 schedule. They also lost 3 effective pass rushers(2019 Alexander, Phillips, Shaq) and Edmunds and Milano were injured for much of the season. Star is an easy excuse but the truth is they held 2,000 yard rusher Derrick Henry to his lowest production of the year and shut down the near historic Ravens run game in the playoffs. Lotulelei at his best was JAG.........at his worst he was bad. This is one of those things that a % of people like you fight me on that will be accepted as entirely obvious that I was right a year from now.
  23. He will consume at least $11.8M in cap space over the next two years even if they cut him today. If they cut him post June 1 they can push some of that cap debt off to 2022 but then they will owe him more.........a total of $12.05M or $12.3M guaranteed because he's got $250K each in roster and workout bonuses that will have accrued during that time. They are totally f*cked on the Star deal........it's a sunk cost even if he shows up for the offseason workouts at 250 pounds(I guess the rumor is he lost a lot of weight).
  24. GTFOH with a points system.😆 Only 9 games the past two seasons ended in regulation ties..........they don't need to change the ranking system for that paltry amount.
  25. As I've said.........the NFL has only made rules changes to prevent such non-competitive football...........that's not changing whether you think it's "bizarre" or "horrible" or not so let it go. We think your food is bizarre and nonsensical so just call it even. If you get caught playing for the tie in this country you are worse than a loser.........you are first loser. Ask Pat Dye.
