  1. Could have held onto that 4th and gotten the RB. They wanted Carlos Hyde but when the 49rs took him the went for Cyrus. Meanwhile Jeremy Hill was just sitting there. He spends a first on a QB in a very weak class. He trades up to pick a WR in a historically strong draft. Even if it's always easy to second guess a draft with hindsight, the problem I have with Whaley is that he has been reckless, taking big and ill considered bets. He says he did it because of the deserving fan base. To the contrary I think he did it because he was desperate to separate himself from a consistently underperforming administration of which most observers would consider him a part. That is an improper motive and a failure in his responsibility to be a prudent steward of the teams resources. So while I'm prepared to admit that he may have some ability, those transgressions fully justify his dismissal. Him, Marrone, Hackett and Brandon have proven themselves to be bad news. The new sheriff needs to wipe the whole slate clean. Then he has to open his checkbook (again) and hire some professionals capable of operating at this level. Nothing less will do IMO.
  2. Except they really did hire Chan, Remember? Some lip service.
  3. Honestly I'm amazed that some people fail to see this.
  4. Well idk. Cowher is the guy who recommended Chan for the job. Yesterday he was saying how Marrone had to be given more time for continuity etc... So if he is not going to take the job maybe he should just STFU.
  5. Whether or not RT is really limited or, as he says, just resting his bones on a short week is huge. If he has to operate from the pocket with no Albert and a suspect running game the Bills have a big leg up on Miami. RT will likely wind up absorbing another beating. But if he's good to go, that's a totally different scenario. He's been better since the OC has taken better advantage of his mobility and ability to throw on the run. If he can do that it will lessen the impact of losing Albert and give RT an opportunity to avoid the rush and pick on our work in progress secondary.
  6. One positive from Sundays debacle was that after the momentum sucking Brown fumble they came right back with a strong drive. If Brown doesn't stumble they come away with seven instead of three and we are back in the drivers seat. I expected that turnover to negatively affect their play and it didn't. I think it would have in the past. I guess we will see soon enuf. If after KC they fold like a cheap tent then I would consider that to be a very bad sign for Marrone.
  7. Actually I expect the Bills to have a good game vs the fish. Two main reasons: First, tho they may be accident prone I don't think this is a team of quitters, and they will be eager for redemption. Second, they are basically a better more talented team than Miami. I see no compelling reason to expect a loss.
  8. Leodisodamus has spoken. Thus it shall be. Bills 27/Fish 13.
  9. Was a good sign because the Chiefs front is stout with pro bowler DP in the middle. I have thought for awhile that the O-line had a chance to progress at some point after the bye (hopefully sooner than later) from terrible to serviceable. If the Pats can do it, so should we.
  10. There were routes being run underneath. Maybe Kyle's decisions.
  11. Agree, but it was more than a bad break. Parker is a very good playmaker. His doing that is unfortunate for us but not just luck on his part. He's good and that's what he does. I too was impressed with Brown and also with the O-line. The drive that ended with Browns fumble is worth mentioning not just for the turnover but also because our guys were blowing them off the ball and running it down their throats. That doesn't happen much to that KC D. Pass pro was pretty decent too. Silver lining and a glimpse of good things to come?
  12. Fully agree. Disagree. The plays weren't there and needed to be killed. Good QBs do that to avoid sacks and/or turnovers by trying to force things.
  13. Orton did not have a good day. Had he been on his game the Bills would have won the game despite the turnovers, poor play calls etc... After the great opening drive his receivers had a number of drops that could have extended drives. Maybe the law of averages only gives you so many chances against a good D. Maybe he was also (overly) concerned about the Chiefs pass rush and hurried a few throws. Ironic perhaps because the pass pro really was pretty good all things considered. To say that he was not at his best does not mean he was the reason why we lost. The turnovers were more direct contributing causes. If Brown scores on the opening drive of the second half the Chiefs are on the ropes and probably done and very much at risk for being blown out. If Leodis doesn't screw up I strongly suspect the Chiefs wind up with 7 fewer points. Also have to give KC some credit. They are a solid, well coached and well balanced football team. All QBs, even the best, have mediocre games, and even some outright stinkers occasionally. Orton also has good games and big throws in that arm of his. Hopefully Thursday night. As for those calling for EJ, that would not be a step in the right direction IMO.
  14. In French they call this "embarras du choix" meaning too hard to chose from so many deserving candidates.
  15. My all time favorite power back. Oh wait, he was also as fast as and could run like the wind. Ridiculous. Earl Campbell vs Jack Tatum. A match made in heaven.
  16. I find it interesting that Taylor Lewan is looking like he may be the best of the LTs. He was and remained throughout the evaluation process slotted behind the other two but he started to open some eyes with his superior combine and his performance seems to continuing it's upward trend after now in his early pro career. Good for him!
  17. Oakland is a doormat right now but with Mack and Carr they almost certainly had the best first two picks-better than the Rams, who had two first rounders, one high the other mid first.
  18. Texans have nothing to lose starting Mallett (except a conditional 7th and a few a zmore football games). If I were a fan I'd be more concerned about my coveted once in a decade pass rushing # 1 overall pick lazing out.
  19. Yeah Pears to NE for Tom Brady. Then flip Brady to Indy for Andrew Luck, but only if they include Kelvin Sheppard. Oh wait, he's with Miami now. Ok deals off in that case.
  20. Wasn't watching the game so I don't know how well he did. But didn't he throw two picks. In one game. And didn't Foles throw two all of last year. Just looking at the stat line MS didn't seem that impressive, though of course that is sometimes misleading.
  21. Bargaining power was the first thing that occurred to me as well. We will know that's the case if indeed they wind up locking him up. Hearing so much that is negative from posters who have seen him a lot makes me wonder though. I was always pretty impressed with him but I haven't seen enuf to have a firm opinion.
  22. I agree. But can he do that? The problem that I have is that with these young players, the O-line such as it is for now, Nate calling plays etc...I really don't think that Peyton Manning or Tom Brady would have played any better these last four games. Maybe worse. That suggests to me that Orton is maybe hot right now but that eventually he will find his right cruising altitude, unless, of course, he's a late bloomer and suddenly in the top half of starting QBs in this league. That sure would be nice. Anyway we've got 8 more games to try and figure all of that out.
  23. If Orton has a stellar year he will be in demand. He doesn't have to play for the Bills, though he may want to. The suggestion that he's some kind of deadbeat just looking for a chance to play QB anywhere is absurd. Idk what kind of contract he may be able to parlay a strong performance into but I can guarantee it will be more than 5 bucks per. Oh and by the way that's why he's here. He has a plan and a personal agenda. He knew perfectly well that the Bills were basically one player away from being able to compete. He thinks he's that player. He's not stupid and Kyle Orton is the last person on earth who would ever sell Kyle Orton short. Kyle wants money and as much of it that he can get. By year end if he leads the Bills to the playoffs he will have Whaley right where he wants him. Smooth.
  24. The lesson of history is that the bigger better dude always beats up on the littler or fatter out of shape dude. Union dude vs rebel dude Russian dude vs German dude US dude vs Japan dude Sluggo vs Mr Bill Only exception Popeye beats up Bluto every time. Good one.
