Agree, but it was more than a bad break. Parker is a very good playmaker. His doing that is unfortunate for us but not just luck on his part. He's good and that's what he does. I too was impressed with Brown and also with the O-line. The drive that ended with Browns fumble is worth mentioning not just for the turnover but also because our guys were blowing them off the ball and running it down their throats. That doesn't happen much to that KC D. Pass pro was pretty decent too. Silver lining and a glimpse of good things to come?

Fully agree. Disagree. The plays weren't there and needed to be killed. Good QBs do that to avoid sacks and/or turnovers by trying to force things.

Orton did not have a good day. Had he been on his game the Bills would have won the game despite the turnovers, poor play calls etc... After the great opening drive his receivers had a number of drops that could have extended drives. Maybe the law of averages only gives you so many chances against a good D. Maybe he was also (overly) concerned about the Chiefs pass rush and hurried a few throws. Ironic perhaps because the pass pro really was pretty good all things considered. To say that he was not at his best does not mean he was the reason why we lost. The turnovers were more direct contributing causes. If Brown scores on the opening drive of the second half the Chiefs are on the ropes and probably done and very much at risk for being blown out. If Leodis doesn't screw up I strongly suspect the Chiefs wind up with 7 fewer points. Also have to give KC some credit. They are a solid, well coached and well balanced football team. All QBs, even the best, have mediocre games, and even some outright stinkers occasionally. Orton also has good games and big throws in that arm of his. Hopefully Thursday night. As for those calling for EJ, that would not be a step in the right direction IMO.

Who is the Bills' most frustrating player?

In French they call this "embarras du choix" meaning too hard to chose from so many deserving candidates. -
Earl Campbell - A Football Life

My all time favorite power back. Oh wait, he was also as fast as and could run like the wind. Ridiculous. Earl Campbell vs Jack Tatum. A match made in heaven. -
2014 NFL draft do over (I love this )
starrymessenger replied to HOUSE's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I find it interesting that Taylor Lewan is looking like he may be the best of the LTs. He was and remained throughout the evaluation process slotted behind the other two but he started to open some eyes with his superior combine and his performance seems to continuing it's upward trend after now in his early pro career. Good for him! -
2014 NFL draft do over (I love this )

Oakland is a doormat right now but with Mack and Carr they almost certainly had the best first two picks-better than the Rams, who had two first rounders, one high the other mid first. -
Fitzy to the bench in Houston

Texans have nothing to lose starting Mallett (except a conditional 7th and a few a zmore football games). If I were a fan I'd be more concerned about my coveted once in a decade pass rushing # 1 overall pick lazing out. -
What Would You Give Up for Brady?
starrymessenger replied to rfk's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yeah Pears to NE for Tom Brady. Then flip Brady to Indy for Andrew Luck, but only if they include Kelvin Sheppard. Oh wait, he's with Miami now. Ok deals off in that case. -
Foles: GM "Soured" On QB Before Injury
starrymessenger replied to BigBuff423's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Wasn't watching the game so I don't know how well he did. But didn't he throw two picks. In one game. And didn't Foles throw two all of last year. Just looking at the stat line MS didn't seem that impressive, though of course that is sometimes misleading. -
Foles: GM "Soured" On QB Before Injury

Bargaining power was the first thing that occurred to me as well. We will know that's the case if indeed they wind up locking him up. Hearing so much that is negative from posters who have seen him a lot makes me wonder though. I was always pretty impressed with him but I haven't seen enuf to have a firm opinion. -
I agree. But can he do that? The problem that I have is that with these young players, the O-line such as it is for now, Nate calling plays etc...I really don't think that Peyton Manning or Tom Brady would have played any better these last four games. Maybe worse. That suggests to me that Orton is maybe hot right now but that eventually he will find his right cruising altitude, unless, of course, he's a late bloomer and suddenly in the top half of starting QBs in this league. That sure would be nice. Anyway we've got 8 more games to try and figure all of that out.

If Orton has a stellar year he will be in demand. He doesn't have to play for the Bills, though he may want to. The suggestion that he's some kind of deadbeat just looking for a chance to play QB anywhere is absurd. Idk what kind of contract he may be able to parlay a strong performance into but I can guarantee it will be more than 5 bucks per. Oh and by the way that's why he's here. He has a plan and a personal agenda. He knew perfectly well that the Bills were basically one player away from being able to compete. He thinks he's that player. He's not stupid and Kyle Orton is the last person on earth who would ever sell Kyle Orton short. Kyle wants money and as much of it that he can get. By year end if he leads the Bills to the playoffs he will have Whaley right where he wants him. Smooth.

The lesson of history is that the bigger better dude always beats up on the littler or fatter out of shape dude. Union dude vs rebel dude Russian dude vs German dude US dude vs Japan dude Sluggo vs Mr Bill Only exception Popeye beats up Bluto every time. Good one.

Trade EJ Manual for Colt McCoy!
starrymessenger replied to boyst's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If we got rid of that useless kickoff specialist who can't even drive it thru the endzone we could sign Colt as a backup and keep EJ. -
I have no idea how to weight the different factors that might influence his decision. Don't know the guy obviously. Most folks like money. A lot. I know that if he keeps playing like this he will have options. Somebody will have to pay him a more than 5 bucks. Thing is the teams that might want him as a starter are probably not as good situations as Buffalo, as far as the prospects of the teams going forward are concerned. Common sense suggests that he should be sensitive to that. That could translate into a home town discount, though a lot would depend on what all else was on the table.

I think that's right 3rd/12. I think KO fully understood what he was getting into here and liked what he saw. Young players with talent looking for veteran leadership. I have no doubt that's one of the main reasons he decided to come to Buff and that he likes the yet developing story about his being the guy who helps turn the franchise around (with the Pegs). But Orton is his own man and he will decide what he's about next year. If he continues to play like this he will be in the drivers seat at year end and he will be in demand. He's always been a better QB to me than Josh M was in Chicago or anywhere else JM has played. The question is, what will he want? One thing we can be sure of is that Kyle Orton will not sell himself short. He actually, and perhaps foolishly, thought he could compete for the starting job in Dallas, despite Jerry's deep love for Romo.
-
There is something I'm missing. Maybe somebody can help me out. I've seen the option for 2015 referred to as a "player option" that Orton is said to "hold". That suggests to me that Orton decides whether he is a Bill or not next year. If so, and if his play holds up for the rest of the year, either he agrees to a new contract or he waves goodbye. Annualized his numbers after four games and somebody will pay him a lot more than 5bucks to be their QB next year. If it's his decision I have even more respect for him as a shrewd operator. Means he has come to Buffalo with the intention of leveraging his opportunity and has outsmarted yet another GM.

TJ Graham of the New York Jets
starrymessenger replied to johnwalter's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
What was it exactly he was supposed to be doing? Was that part of the play design. Was he trying to hide? Gotcha. He was being small or smaller or inconspicuous. Except I was worried somebody shot him dead. -
Gerald McCoy contract --> Dareus
starrymessenger replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
My guess is its $. And there is nothing wrong with that. He's at or close to the top of the food chain as far as DTs are concerned given his age and more consistent play, but the character concerns are real though a lot less than somebody like Haynesworth who landed a huge contract. I know I takes a few years for DTs to fully come around but my impression has always been that he's a guy who can pretty much flat out dominate whenever he makes up his mind to do so. Is his spotty play in prior years just a question of development or motivation. Important question. -
Woods is quite capable of having a big game. Our receivers are really pretty good. That's really what separates of from the Jets. True they have Percival but he's not acclimated and, who knows, he might punch Geno in the mouth before the first half is over. Now if we can just fix that pesky O-line.
