The Chargers, Rivers and Antonio Gates
starrymessenger replied to PS 56's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Time for Rivers to have a lousy game as well as his supporting cast. Turnovers galore. 3/0 here we come. -
It isn't just Kouandjio not starting....
starrymessenger replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
People always seem to forget what a HUGE step up in competition it is from college ball to the pros. Almost all first rounders are drafted as prospects, meaning on the basis of what is possible, not certain and for sure. Far from it. Way too early to close the book on any of these kids. Personally I think CK will be just fine given time. I love his attitude. He wants to be good. And he's one huge mofo. -
Week 3 predictions: Chargers @ Bills
starrymessenger replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Don't we always play them tough at home? Bills 27/17. Because we win the turnover battle. -
You've got a point there. I was never disciplined physically by my parents but you would not believe how vicious their use of sarcasm was. I remember pleading with them to hit me instead. Of course had they tried that I would have just chased them with a kitchen knife or at least have gone mano a mano. Probably why they preferred sarcasm, hyperbole, litotes and other cruel figures of speech - that and they were both teachers.

I haven't seen the pics but I gather that they were such as to deeply offend the majority of those who have seen them. In dealing with AP I doubt though that a reasonable course of action can be taken by the Vikes, the league and the courts exclusively on the basis of this incident. If AP is the kind of twisted person who regularly beats his children because he's a drunk, derives lurid and sadistic pleasure from abusing the weak and defenseless, is a sexual pervert, needs a scapegoat etc...then I would be with Esiason who said yesterday that AP should never again see a NFL playing field. But it has been said by APs camp that this is not of frequent occurrence, that he loves his children and is a good father etc... If that is true, then while AP may have to reflect upon his behavior and improve it, to the suggestion that he should be banned or suffer some sort of disproportionate penalty I would say "let's be sensible, shall we" or, in football speak, "CMON MAN"! Let he who is without fault cast the first stone.

NY Jets at Green Bay Packers

Geno looking good. Very good. -
His incomplete throw to Watkins was on the money. Brent Grimes made a great play. Normally a long TD. His throw to Chandler was absolutely big time. He's got a long way to go but he may be improving.

All true, but a picture is worth a thousand words. I guess. -

How will Henderson hold up this week against Wake?
starrymessenger replied to Bocephuz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
They should run at him - run D is hardly what he does best. And I agree there is no way they leave SH on him one on one on passing downs. The good news is he will have help. The bad - Wake destroyed a good blocking TE and Ridley last week, so help might not always be enuf. Other thing is you don't want the Wake watch to give O. Vernon too many opportunities either. He good too. -
Yes, back and forth when Bills had commercial break. And then from start to finish on tape. They for sure miss LM big time. In fact both their lines looked bad in the second half. If they don't straighten that out not even Teflon Tom and BB will be able to save them. Thing is Tom, while well protected in the past, was able to perform under pressure. He may not be able to do that anymore. I know that people have always been proven wrong when doubting TB but I think he isn't the same guy now. Even when he had time and a good pocket he missed time and again and badly. You can blame the WR (is JE a number #1? Say no) or the line or Josh McDaniel's if you like -because nothing ever sticks to Teflon Tom- but he's now only a good, not great QB IMO. He's got lots of good football left I'm sure but I don't think he will be able to powerlift this team by himself. I think the Pats are no better than even money to win the East, especially if any of the kid QBs start to come on.

My preview of the Dolphins game
starrymessenger replied to Lothar's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Ummmm...No. He also beat the RB (Ridley?) on that play. Cam Wake is bad news. The two guys you need to shut down or at least contain are Moreno and Wake. Take away the run and their chances sink big time. Give EJ the time he had last week and it should be a lock. Don't do those things and you probably lose. -
Not at all sure Revis is the same player post injury. Their line play on both sides of the ball is bad - and soft. Good coaching can hide many deficiencies but not bad line play. Either it gets much better fast or they are in real trouble. Brady is a pocket passer, meaning he needs a pocket. He's not making any plays outside of that zone. People focus on how good his protection was - and they are right, but he was also very good at making plays when seriously pressured. Not so much now. His # 1 receiver is JE - good slot guy but nuff said. Gronk is much diminished. Looks to me that maybe NE goes looking for a wild card this year. Not quite my Super Bowl favs.

Yes of course I (just) saw it. I was not surprised by what I saw. I assumed he had clocked her when the first video surfaced. She was clearly knocked out. How do you think that happens? Can't the league and the team put 2 + 2 together? You know what, I think they can and did. What they are doing now is punishing him because they didn't get it right the first time and they felt the heat when the public reacted to their "not getting it right" as RG said at the time.
-
Well how did they think she got knocked unconscious when he dragged her out of the elevator, you know, when the Ravens pledged him their full support and the NFL handed him just a two game suspension. A mere fainting spell? Maybe they assumed she was just pretending to be unconscious. Not saying RR is without blame but I get the impression that he is now being punished for the league and the team not getting it right the first time and because they feel pressure into doing the politically correct thing now. Maybe an 8 game suspension plus a repeat offender 1 year suspension or worse would have made sense in the first place.

Yes. That Williams guy is as bad as advertised.

Marrone yells to Russ "go ahead and fire me"
starrymessenger replied to papazoid's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
His ball placement was bad all preseason and a disappointment (to me anyway) so when the coaches soured on him as a guy who could be counted on if needed it made sense to me. I must add though that I was also puzzled by his inaccuracy because I was pretty confident he was able to make the throws he was missing. -
Schlereth Rips Decker a New One
starrymessenger replied to truth on hold's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The problem is that he's a moron. He used to pea in his pants while on the field then he'd brag about how he was fooling the fans. As if anyone cared wether he knew how to use a toilet or not. Moron. -
