  1. Well, anyone a team picks in the first round is someone they coveted. Obviously they had Tre on their radar, but a 17 slot trade-down doesn't seem like a strategy get him in particular. A better example might be the trade-down when they selected EJ. They clearly were going to take a QB, there were lots of reports that they liked EJ best, but felt that he would still be there if they moved down a few slots and acquired some more draft capital
  2. ' I had voted YES, w/ some reservations that I noted, but most of this is also a good argument for NO vote. I would love to see our reporters, perhaps at the Athletic (?) do an in-depth article on the draft strategy from 2017 regarding the trade-out and why either of these QBs were not selected. While Josh is turning out pretty positive there are several other supporting pics that were dealt away to trade up for him. I've never seen a good insider article explaining the thinking in 2017. Beane hadn't been hired yet, McDermott had only been on for a short time and Whaley was on his way out the door.
  3. I approved, but I'm really somewhere in between. They certainly ended the year strong, but the early to middle part of the season was very frustrating and the team seemed particularly lost in several games. The season was definitely on the brink after several lopsided losses where all three facets of the game were embarrassed, along with coaching decisions. But he needs to be given credit for making a definitive transition to youth and coaching them to results. The team really believed in itself by end of year and I've never seen a 6-10 result finish with such optimism. He certainly deserves to continue to lead the team and a strong step up is expected for next year.
  4. who would you prefer as an ideal backup-QB?
  5. ...so then no danger of needing a back-up and signing someone off...say...the Raider practice squad??
  6. Guys, I think we've taken this one as far as it needs to go. He's heard it on every page of this thread. It's beating a dead horse at this point...
  7. Trading up is a matter of who you have targeted and who's expected to be selected yet before you can pick. Allen, Edmunds and Dawkins were all trade-ups in the part two drafts.
  8. Amen....anyone who can't see that he's a budding star is blind. If we re-drafted today and we had the #1 overall pick, would anyone really suggest the Bills would have taken anyone else?
  9. I'll apologize to @BringBackOrton for the outburst, that's not how I typically play on this board...
  10. You're 0-3 and a moron.... wrong on your speculations, wrong on your defenses when called out and sounding silly with your online "snark"
  11. Bringing out the cart made it look serious, however, jumping to the most negative conclusion possible for a speed receiver was irresponsible and then further embellishing it with "career ending" compounded it....and then further not being aware that he returned to the game. It seems like the main person that was wrong was...you! I'm not sure what "sort" I seem to be to you based on this one exchange, but I typically haven't gotten into arbitrary arguments with people on this board...
  12. What I can't handle is made up speculation...I doubt you know a thing about the issue.
  13. Where was anything stated about an achilles? And how you can speculate that its career ending? You're just making s%$t up...its really irresponsible!
  14. I have a Twitter list of Bills/Sabres sports reporters that I follow during games. They're quick to point out when he's off target, but the many of his passes both long and short were very accurate today! Zero tweets on the topic from our reporters.
  15. I like Tyrod, but he would have taken a sack on that play to be safe knowing he had the 5 yards coming
  16. As this is playing out, the Bills are picking #6 with none of the first 5 forecast to pick a QB. Immediately after the Bills is Jags (#7), Bucs (#8), Giants (#9), Bengals (#11), Redskins (#14), Broncos (#17) and Dolphins (#18). Certainly someone could jump even higher than us, but we might be in a great position to trade down as is often suggested here if someone wants the top QB in the draft.
  17. Would love to see Pettine come back!
  18. The moderators need to add a new emoticon to react to posts because <confused> doesn't cover it
  19. Its a fair question... there's plenty of buyer's regret when it comes to QBs
  20. Until that angle on the play, I didn't realize how deep he still was in the end zone....I'm shocked and its the reason the ball wasn't completed
  21. Two years ago we barely knew who Micah Hyde and Jordan Poyer were...
  22. Good topic... officiating was horrid. Not only some of the Bills "penalties" but also some missed holding against fish.
  23. For my part, I'm typically depressed after a Bills loss, turn off football the rest of the day and avoiding online articles the morning after. While not wishing for any losing at any time, I kept watching football yesterday to see how some other QBs looked. BTW, Ben Roethlisberger throws some inaccurate passes as well. Also I've been looking for stories since I woke up. Two words... Josh Allen!
  24. This is a more realistic list. McCloud and Thomas may get cut in training camp next year, but I don't think they will be cut ahead of that. Pretty clear that OL and WR is where our issues are
  25. I'd rather have Thomas. He still has some ceiling to grow too. He clearly needs to improve blocking, but he has good hands and I love how they used him on the fake punt a few weeks ago. I also like Croom a lot better. Hard to comment on Clay as his contract made him difficult to move past, but I think that ends after this season.
