WGR App: Is it shut down during the game?
Metal Man replied to buffalopdc's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Did you listen to the entire game using that app? I tried using it with about 5 minutes to go, right after Stevie's TD, and I was only getting dead air. Someone mentioned in another thread that WGR had some issues at the end of the game so maybe it was that vs being blocked by NFL rules, at least I hope that's the case. Same here. Been using that app for the last couple years. It was always for 97 rock though so hopefully being WGR only doesn't change this. -
Yeah, I've had a "crazy eyes" girl too, the lunatic gf experience is not fun. Syracuse is pretty far from Depew though.... just make sure she doesn't have your address before you hit and run.

I'll second Bar Bills. Wings there are pretty amazing. Not a quick trip from downtown, especially for someone who isn't familiar with the area. But for you locals, if you haven't tried it yet definitely put it on your list. Duff's over Anchor Bar though for sure.

I'm not seeing how there can even be any question on this one.

All of these broadcast rules seem bloated and ridiculous to me. You'd think the NFL would be happy for anyone wanting their product and it's not like you could skip the advertising with the streaming apps. A couple seasons about I was using a radio app to listen to the 97 rock broadcast of the games so maybe the rule changed recently or they have been cracking down.

Glad you mentioned this so I know it wasn't just me. I gave up on the Bills game after Stevie's TD to drive to the bar for the GB/SF game and on the way couldn't get any of the three phone apps I could use for streaming WGR to work. All of them just had dead air even though it seemed to be streaming. Is that regular season only? I definitely used the Buffalo Bills app to listen to a couple of the preseason games earlier this year.

Agreed. Other than the obvious pic 6 the other turnovers did not put the D in terrible position as far as defending against points. Also I'm not sure the D even earned that early interception on Sanchez. It looked like Scott's second step came down out of bounds on the replay. I understand Gailey's comment about Sanchez getting the ball out quickly but even so if the D-line was as amazing as advertised they should have at least been getting hits on him after he threw. I can't recall any serious pressure the entire game. Basically aside from some decent play against the run the defense looked exactly the same as last season.

I have been using this guy's viewer map for years and have found it pretty handy. Curious as to why he stopped using an overlay to google maps though. Seems like this year the quality took a step backwards for the first time. I'm sure it's nitpicking but I thought it was cool to be able to zoom way in to the point where the broadcasts actually change.

Replacement Refs Sucked Last Night
Metal Man replied to voodoo poonani's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The head ref definitely had a weird look about him... eyes half closed like he was stoned or something. Officiating crews all looking like they are cast members of the new Adams Family may take some getting used to but the calls/non-calls didn't seem abnormal to me. -
OP nailed it. I wouldn't have guessed Mcintyre but as a kicking teams captain it makes sense.

Anyone concerned about starting Hakeem Nicks Tonight?
Metal Man replied to Metal Man's topic in Fantasy Football
I did draft Williams pretty late. You're analysis is likely spot on I just always get nervous when guys are listed as questionable before you even get a chance to see them play any real games. Plus from a fantasy stand point I'm not a big fan of the Thursday night games being all season this year. So much better to have all the info and all your options available at the same time. -
I know he is saying he will be playing no matter what and I do believe that will be the case. My question is does anyone out there think the injury will hinder his ability to play well or that they will be mainly using him as a decoy? My other option would be SU's own troubled soul Mike Williams. Any/All input appreciated.

What were your stadium experiences last night?
Metal Man replied to The Rev.Mattb74 ESQ.'s topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Getting drunk and cursing up a storm in the stands... most definitely. Passing out, puking, or pissing on myself or others in the stands..... I can honestly say that myself nor any of my friends have ever done that. My grandmother has had seasons for 40 years and I went to a lot of games at a young age. The swearing didn't leave an impression on me but I do remember there always being a fight or two. I never recall any stories like the ones people are putting in this thread or that you basically hear about all the time now. Definitely seems like the fans are getting slightly more out of control or kids just can't hold their booze these days. -
New stadium vs. Existing Stadium
Metal Man replied to SouthernMan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
That would likely be more than enough for the time being. However I don't see Ralph Wilson ever being the Fenway of the NFL so they will need a new stadium eventually. I don't think we would even want it to be. Fenway is awesome for the first few minutes you walk in because of its history, and then you realize how crappy it really is. Same with the old Yankee stadium. Loved going there all the time when I lived in the city but the place really was a crap-hole. The new Yankee stadium is honestly the best sports arena I have ever visited and I have been to quite a few. No doubt it would end up hitting us all in the pocket if the new stadium comes, taxes and/or gate, but it will have to eventually happen for the Bills to stay in Buffalo. At least IMHO. -
New stadium vs. Existing Stadium
Metal Man replied to SouthernMan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Concessions, concourses, and bathrooms are way antiquated by any sports standards so those are obvious areas that need improvement. I love the Ralph, or Rich Stadium as it will always be to me, but after going to the Bills/Giants game in NY this past season I can't see how a new stadium would be a bad thing, nostalgic arguments aside. Besides the obvious improvements stated above and much better scoreboards and screens all over the place there is just so much else going on all around the stadium that makes the experience a bigger event than just the game. Once you go through the gates there are bands playing, games, shops, and all sorts of other things to see and do before you even get inside the actual structure. I realize this is just all fluff and the game is what really matters but in today's day and age of HD and superior home theater there needs to be something more to the game day experience to keep people coming, especially for the younger generation. The game and the tailgating will always be the highlight, especially for us old timers, but anything sprinkled on top can only help add to the fun and help move the Bills towards the future NFL like the rest of the league. We can fight it all we want but evolve or die is the basic law of everything going forward. -
Dark Knight Rises - Midnight Screening Roll-Call
Metal Man replied to ajzepp's topic in Off the Wall Archives
I have a group of 4 too and we are thinking we need to be lining up a minimum one hour before, however that is for 12:30pm tomorrow. Tonight you might want to give even more time than that. -
I'm really torn on this, the be there or to be in Buffalo. I always told myself if the Bills make it again I am going no matter what it costs me but there is definitely something to be said for being surrounded by friends, family, and the extended Bills fan family in the WNY area. One thing is for sure though, if it is this year I am going for sure because nothing could compare to celebrating the Bills championship in NOLA. I went there last fall for the SU/Tulane game, that city is one hell of a party.

Me too. I am definitely in the likely smaller camp that doesn't like the 3-D movement. Mostly seems like a cash grab to me. I read an interview with Nolan a while back and he said the studios wanted him to do 3-D for this film but he refused. Gained so much more respect for him after that. -

One of the theaters near me is showing the first two leading up to the midnight showing of the new one. Starts around 6pm I think. I was considering that or just the 12am show but I have off tomorrow so I'm planning on just hitting up one around noon. Can't imagine it will live up to the last film but I hope it comes close. -
In no particular order: It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia (glad to see it getting a lot of love here) Arrested Development 30 Rock Trailer Park Boys Better off Ted (short lived but really funny) Cheers Night Court Reno 911 Saw some people mention Saved By the Bell and Soap, those didn't come to mind immediately but I enjoyed both of those a lot as well.

just saw Roger Waters perform "The Wall"
Metal Man replied to The Poojer's topic in Off the Wall Archives
http://youtu.be/WhTWU_dg2MA Video I took at the last First Niagara show back in June. I was in the 200s across from the stage so not close, but you can hear well and get a decent feel for the visuals, though this particular song doesn't come close to the multimedia displays that occurred during the night. -
just saw Roger Waters perform "The Wall"
Metal Man replied to The Poojer's topic in Off the Wall Archives
I saw it twice at First Niagara. Music was also fantastic. Roger Waters surrounded himself with excellent musicians for this. Only pre-recorded stuff was for the speaking and/or sound effects intros to some of the songs. However even though it was music being performed live it is hard to compare it to a normal concert because it was much more than that. Definitely one of the best live music experiences I've ever had though. -
"Exclusive Ticket Presale" today
Metal Man replied to BillsWatch's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Really? I wish I would have tried. The e-mail I got with the code in it said that the first two were already sold out which I thought has been true for weeks. I realize they will slowly release tickets as it gets closer that were held for seasons but I am surprised that would happen so soon. -
Buddy Guy first and foremost. Joe Bonamassa is also another great blues guitar player. Others to definitely look into: Michael Burks Roy Buchanan Savoy Brown Albert Collins Charlie Musselwhite Coco Montoya Johnny Winter Guitar Shorty Joe Louis Walker John Mayall Fleetwood Mac (original lineup with Peter Green) Luthar Allison and my personal favorite Son Seals.
