Someone at the Rochester D&C has apparently misunderstood what the WWW is all about and is now in some misguided and sadistic attempt to capitalize on the well known toxic addictions of the Buffalo Bills fans -- it now seems as though we out of town'ers, have to pay a subscription to get access to their articles. NEVER!!! Its time to fight this money grab, please do three things, if you would . . . 1) Can someone who has access (if its free), copy and paste the articles into TBD, so the rest of the world can share in the brilliance of the R D&C sports columnists. 2) For everyone else - boycott this tyrrany! PLEASE DO NOT succumb to this capitalist takeover attempt of the internet. 3) Write them a note telling them what you think of their stunt. Time to stand up and and be counted Bills fans! And, have a good day . . . because the Bills won! Even the R D&C cannot rob me of that joy.

Mooreman was mentioned twice: People, hew as not "terrible," he was intentionally punting the ball away from the most dangerous return man in the NFL. . . . A 30 yard punt that goes out of bounce on the side is much better than a 50 yard punt that gets run back into the end zone. Granted, maybe a few could go longer, but if you're gong to miss on them, miss outside, never inside the hash marks --- and that is what he did today.

I saw that the Bills gave up a sack, but couldn't recall where it was. In looking at the game thread, the fumble was called a sack (first, it should not have been ruled a fumble, how they could overturn that? It deserves an explanation). Anyhow, Fitz was not touched on the play, how can it be credited for a sack? Am I missing something here? In the big picture, not a big deal -- but for the pride of the offensive line, it is a big deal. Real Stat: 3 games = 0 Sacks given up by this line, and another solid running game (139 yards) out of them, even without the #1 and #1A backs!

Dick Jauron is a good man, and a good football coach. Charismatic? No! But, as he hints to in the blogger interview, he was also smart enough to know that he didn't have the personnel to win in the NFL --- particularly, in the AFC East Division when the Patriots were having their way with everyone. The Point: Time has shown that the he didn't have the people needed to win. Coaches are only as smart as their players are good. For DJ, he didn't have "the right tools in the tool box" to get the job done in Buffalo. Now he should take some blame for that, as I'm sure he had a say in picks like Maybin and Hardy, (oh, and who was that D-Linemen we selected late in the first round--cut last year?) etc., but in the end, they had a fine collection of 7-9 talent for three years, and just couldn't figure out how to go above that level . . . hopefully, the regime has that figured out.

The Polyanna side of this stat: If he gets back to some level of competency, just think how good our offense will be . . . we might lead the league in scoring TDs, maybe we could be the best in the Red Zone, and to cap it off, if we can start running the ball, we might lead the league in that too! Oh, wait ???? Go figure? ... as Mark Twain said, there are lies, damn lies, and statistics. Well, so far the stats say a lot of good things, hopefully the realities will align with those stats soon. I do think the offense has potential, but clearly Fitz has to play better.

I'm not a huge Jerry Sullivan fan, but he nailed it with this one: Pressure Growing on Gailey to produce wins As I watched the game last week, and saw the Bills get out-coached and out-played, I sat their wondering: "Does our coaching staff have a clue?" I hope they do, I want to believe they do, but today's game will be a huge test: time to do something different . . . let's see if they do. Your thoughts?

I think the soft coverage--keep them in front of you philosophy--is all predicated on the assumption that you are going to generate a pass rush and cause the QB to hurry and force things. The whole plan/strategy goes out the door when there is no rush! no pressure! and that is exactly what happened last week. Until there is a legitimate pass rsh and pressure on the QB, it really doesn't matter what scheme the DBs and LBs are playing. To me, the lack of meaningful production by the highly touted D-Line was by far the most disappointing outcome of this game. The blame is being placed in the wrong place . . . yes, better play out of the LBs and DBs is certainly needed, but it all starts up front, and the "up front" guys didn't get it done last week."

I'll have to say, this is really the first time I have been terribly frustrated with Fitz. We've always known what we had, a good game manager when he's at his best . . . yesterday, he was a game changer, in the worst possible way. HOWEVER, that only masked what we have chosen to ignore, the signs were there in the preseason, and it really showed under the bright lights yesterday -- for all the hype, the defense is still not that good. Its hard to figure, they were decent against the run, but generated no pass rush at all, and the d-backs were almost non-existent in pass coverage. Hard to figure what's going on there ????
