  1. Just enjoy the entertainment of the game, unless your a player! Too many people are just repeating what they see in the media and it's a little ridiculous. With this staff it doesn't make sense to root for the #1 pick in the draft because they will probably take too much time to make their selection and be penalized into picking #2 instead and then squander the opportunity by picking someone else other than what most draft forecasters would choose. They will justify it by saying that they are just following their draft board which is different from everyone else's and pick another Mike Williams type of player. So just relax and enjoy the team while we still have them despite how inept the coaching staff, scouting team, and strength and conditioning coaches have been in game day and offseason preparation. What one step would be most effective? The first step would be to hire a GM (in the likes of Bill Polian). That simple.....He'll make coaching changes....coaches will make player changes and the GM will hire other personnel office people and can Tom Modrak and his assistants. Russ Brandon needs to stick to sales & marketing only! Unfortuanately, we all have our ideas & suggestions and Ralph Wilson has proven in the past that he will move at his turtle pace and do things his way regardless! Remember we have been losing close games for about 10 years now....Dallas Monday night, Homerun throwback, so many to N.E., Yikes the list goes on and on. This isn't a new thing...it comes down to the organizational personnel. How come coaches that fail here go on to other places and do well?? Pittsburgh's D-Coordinator Lebeau was here...and then he excelled in Pittsburgh! Our O-Line coach (can't think of name) had a great record of reviving O-Lines (but not here)....It's not just the QB is my point....Todd Collins, Rob Johnson, Billy Joe whatever, J.P. Lossman, Trent Edwards, and probably others.....they can't all be bad! It's the team philosophy, and the way the team is built, coached, ran, how they negotiate with free agents, contracts, etc..........It's a poorly managed team! Good or great teams repeat historically ie: Boston Celtics, NY Yankees, LA Lakers, Detroit Red Wings, Pittsburgh Steelers, New England Patriots etc........even when skill players change, coaches change they almost always get back to being successful even after a year or two lull. Whole point is don't expect much as a fan because we can't control much and this organization isn't committed enough (since "87-94) to put a winning product on the field! They will plug some holes into a sinking ship with a street free agent like Owens or Dockery, but in the end the ship is sinking and it needsa complete overhaul from top to bottom as a strong foundation will keep the keel intact and the ship will be able to float again!
  2. You would think that some of us would learn not to get excited over another teams coordinator rather it's offensive or defensive. It doesn't prove that they will make good head coaches at all! ie: Gregg Williams etc...many, others proved the same result. What we do need is to fire Jauron whenever the appropriate time presents itself (Last year in my book, when he couldn't find the challenge flag in time!)....And hire someone with a proven track record! ie: Bill Cowher, Mike Shanahan, Tony Dungy, Marty Shottenheimer, John Gruden, Mike Holmgren.....are u kidding me...there are that many and several more great choices out there yet people want to experience a young coordinator....come'on what are people thinking....I would be more excited about a new GM like the return of Bill Polian who would get the other things right in it's proper sequence...until we do that most positions on the team will be a revolving door like they have been for several years. You need a strong organizational foundation to build on instead of putting new double-pane windows on a house that is collapsing! That makes about as much sense as several of these posts....just like the quick free agent trade before the deadline for trading hits today.....It won't make much sense to rent a player for 1 year to finish 6-10 or so! 1. Get the GM 2. GM hires Coach 3. GM hires new scouting dept and draft specialist. 4. Coach decides what players are salvageable 5. Coach lets GM know which players need to be cut, traded, contract expire etc... 6. Coach needs to pick his coaching staff.....let go of all current coaches! even Bobby April...and especially the strength & conditioning coaches as we have a high percentage of players injured the past few season. 7. Coach needs to make it clear that the team will conduct many outside practices and training in the future to better condition and have an advantage in bad weather. 8. No soft training camps If most of these things happen we would have an organization that would be a lot more successful in about 2-3 years or sooner.
  3. The defense has been great??? Hmmm, well it's good to be an optimist but did you watch the Miami game? It was solid against lowly Cleveland I guess...but great? All I know is that when it's 3rd & 9 or 3rd &12 it seems that the other teams almost always get their first down against us! What have you based your conclusion that DJ has the staff and players to rebound? What supporting information do you have that that is the case? I would think that many of the players won't be available due to injury let alone ready to rebound! Poz may or may not be back, but he probably isn't in game shape being out for a few games. The Bills aren't the very worst team but they are not in the top 25 which is sad considering their are 32 teams. Unless they come out and flatten NY which I don't anticipate I rather see them lose (if that leads to DJ getting canned! & higher draft picks, and hopefully a GM hiring). I love the Bills don't get me wrong, but this ship is sinking and fixing a leaky faucet won't help when the ship is taking on water and their is a huge hole both fore and aft! After the Miami loss Rex Ryan said that his Jets are going to take it out on the team they play this week! Guess who that team is: B_ _ _ _ _ O ??????? Any guesses? New York Jets 31 Buffalo Bills 10 Get your popcorn ready!!! blah blah blah
  4. The memories of Marv coaching are great so I could see how one would think about the return of the glory days, but Marv isn't up to the task anymore. If you saw him at the Pro Bowl induction ceremony he looked terrible, he jaw was dropped like a very old person, he's mouth seemed to hang open and he looked very old like Ralph. I don't think he nor Marty Shottenheimer are the solution. If only Bill Cowher, or Mike Shanahan would coach the Bills, but I don't see Ralph hiring someone of that caliber and he won't likely spend 6 to 9 million on a coach. Just wish that Bill Polian would be rehired as the GM as I think he can still build another winner if he ever leaves Indianapolis. I know he visited with the media at the Sabres game against Nashville last night. So obviously, he still has some fondness towards the Buffalo media or the Sabres team. I think firing most of the Bills personnel people and finding replacements would be a start of a new beginning with the organization. Plugging the (hopeful) coaching vacancy with Marv would be nothing more than a trip down memory lane, unfortunately though the road is a dead end because the depth of the team is very weak. If N.England fielded their backups right now against our first team players they would likely beat us! Our foundation is cracked and collapsing! You can add a temporary wooden support (like T.O.) but eventually it is all coming down anyways. So it's time to salvage the good pieces of lumber from the bad and rebuild it from top to bottom!!!!!!!!!!!
  5. If the Bills are playing ugly again, I think the fans should give Ralph Wilson a hardy Standing Ovation, Chant his name, applaud and at the conclusion of the ceremony start filing out of the Stadium entirely. Imagine how startled the media would be and the attention that it would grab if the fans all left right afterward. What a statement, and at least it's not affecting ticket sales and Ralph's bottom line. Several people suggest boycotting the game altogether but I feel that that kind of thinking could lead to the Bills moving sooner rather than later. But, to leave just prior to the third quarter would have a greater impact...and the fans could even chant "Fire Dick" as they are leaving the stadium. Oooh well just a passing thought!
  6. One of the few posts that I agree with....Yes 1-3 is a bad start and we have our work cut out for us to get back into the playoff hunt. I don't anticipate that they will, but you just never know....Just like last season after 4 games when everyone was caught up in the 4-0 record we had...the prevailing setiment was that we were going to the playoffs with little doubt. Well that's what happens when you get over-hyped early in the season. Look at the Yankees in baseball they were behind the Red Sox by a good margin of games and failed to win a single game against the Red Sox at the 1/4 mark. Well, love them or hate them they righted their ship and the same possibility exists for the Bills as some of the injured players return and the season presses on. Hang on to your hats folk you just never know what lies ahead!
  7. I don't know if Jax is the only one though....Dan Snyder (Washington) loves to overpay and you never know about Al Davis and Oakland....My Buffalo Bills aren't that bright as proven before many times over...so u never know about them either..But Ralph Wilson usually overpays for marginal players like Walker & Dockery so I'd say it's down to Jax & Washington most likely...
  8. I have read so many posts on so many sites in reference to our Buffalo Bills and what all of these posts, questions, comparisons, whining, wishing & daydreaming lead me to the question that doesn't all of the views, analysis, and heartburn over the Buffalo Bills this season like the one before and the one before that make you wonder what the team plays for? Seriously, it may seem like a stupid question at first but why does the team play football? Sure they pay to earn a living and line their pockets with oodles of money! The financial security is probably unbelievable barring a short injury plagued career. One could say for the love of the game which I would imagine there is the Chris Speilman type out there! Why else? Well, a big part of it all is for the fans entertainment! When you watch teams like New England, Dallas, NY Giants, and a few other teams they do provide a show regardless of their record. Unfortunately, with our Buffalo Bills it seems like there is a arrogance within the organization. We're going to trick everyone in the league and run on 3rd down and 13 and somehow it rarely works! We're going to go against the draft experts and the opinions of the majority of teams and draft players that we rank drastically different on the war room draft board. We're going to outsmart the league and the fans! We are going to stick with the same philosophy each year even though it hasn't worked much because we want continuity! Yet, we trade our best offensive lineman for philly's 2nd 1st round pick, and cut our second best offensive tackle! (sure he isn't great but what do we have?). Our team will sign a has been superstar to sucker us into false hope instead of fixing the foundation from the ground up! See, Without a solid foundation a building will collapse and that is what is happening to our beloved Bills! The problem with the entire organization is that they are not entertaining the fans, they are torturing us instead! Maybe that is the idea? Get us so down on our team that we don't care if a few trucks load up at midnight and head north to Toronto or wherever..Sell a few high price players like Peters, Walker to increase our the Bills profit margin and then sell to the highest out of town bidder? Anyways, what is the purpose of not taking more shots down the field? Why punt the ball with 4 minutes left and down by multiple scores again? Why defer receiving the kickoff until the second half against the most potent offense in the league (N.O.) which resulted in us trying to play catch-up the entire game! So many questions, missed opportunities, bad decisions, bad drafting, and bad personnel and coaching hirings. If the Bills don't change there course top to bottom soon they will self-destruct in a similar fashion to the titanic! or they will move! I am wondering if all these blunders is some sort of sabotage from within? ......IMO here are a few ideas to the road of recover: 1. Ralph needs to fire D. Jauron immediately 2. Ralph needs to fire personnel people who draft & make personnel decisions 3. Ralph needs to do what it takes to get Bill Polian or someone of his caliber in here as GM 4. The new GM needs to select a coach outside of the organization to replace whomever the interim coach is (I presume this would be bobby April for the rest of this season. 5. The GM needs to hire a completely new scouting department 6. The Bills need to draft the best QB available and move up if it requires it despite the cost. 7. The Bills need to move back into the 1st round to draft a Left tackle 8. Ralph should try to work with Jim Kelly, Thurmon Thomas and those guys in that bunch who want to try and buy the Bills because the best interest in our city and fans are embedded in those guys hearts! 9. The Bills should have a game next season recognizing the fans of the Buffalo Bills who have stood toe to toe with the best fans in the NFL in support of a team that isn't as competitive as many other teams. These are just some ideas and I hope they make sense because the things they do now from top to bottom don't! Oh yeah, Please, Dick Jauron & Trent Edwards don't keep replying that you have to evaluate the tape of the game each time a reporter asks you a question in reference to what went wrong! That is nauseating to here for the umpteenth time and besides everyone knows that what went wrong as the coaching and quarterbacking stinks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  9. Good point and I agree with you more than the other blogger about D.J.'s status. I think that it would be almost pointless to fire Jauron during the season if Ralph is going to promote within the organization. Bobby April is also the only candidate that I can see that they would turn to if they took that route. I do not like Jauron's body of work while here, but I suppose any coach that had similar results repeatedly would be suspect. I don't see Ralph Wilson firing D.J. after extending for 3 years last year during mid-season. Too much money would be left at the table! I hope that if our losing ways continue that Ralph gets fed up and goes outside the organization to bring in a coach with a winning past in ie: Mike Shanahan, Bill Cowher, Marty Shottenheimer etc....at least someone that can get a little fired up, lead his troops and has a pulse!!
  10. I really despise Miami, but if it means that D.J. gets canned then Go stupid Fish!! (for just 1 week that is).... I know that WGR550 Radio disagrees with this point, but I knew that when D.J. deferred receiving the ball until the second half (like he almost always or always does) that we were in trouble. Not so much because of the reprecutions if they score first so much (even though N.O. offense is/was ranked #1 and I'd rather start with a lead than play catchup with them), but because of the mindset of D.J. playing not to lose (therefore almost always loses), keeping it close, etc.....I just can't stand the whole philosophy of D.J. and unfortunately as head coach of the Bills the team, including and especially Trent Edwards have been brainwashed with D.J.'s methodology! I cannot stand this guy anymore! Lazy players not concerned about winning games Love D.J. because he's easy and a pushover! They practice soft most of the off-season and then when the season comes they are not as conditioned for the rigors and pounding that NFL players take on a weekly basis. Therefore the players get injured easier than their opponents generally because they are not in game shape (they are in lame shape..at least some of them). D.J. may have ruined T. Edwards because he is getting worse each year instead of better. Before he was given limitations and brainwashed he did try different types of throws that he just doesn't even attempt to make now. I worry that a bad record may not be enough to get D.J. fired seeing that he extended half-way through last year for three years for 3 million a year! I don't see Ralph Wilson taking a huge loss like that quite yet! Look at the Jets though....New coach w/good credentials, New QB moved up in the draft for, picked up several good free agents, some being from Baltimore where Rex coached etc......All we need to do is get a personnel guy that's top-notch ie: Bill Polian, Scott Pioli etc....then a Bill Cowher, Mike Shanahan, John Gruden or someone that has a good track record, and a Top tier QB in the draft, (even if u have to trade someone like M.Lynch to get that #1 pick), and use your second pick for a very good left tackle (find a way to get back into the 1st round like N.E. does most years)....and wham all the sudden you are on the right track to building your team, evaluating the guys you currently have...and purging the ones who don't make the cut.....and basically it sounds like a rebuilding program!.....When your foundation is not solid this is what needs to be done otherwise everything will eventually collapse from top to bottom and this is exactly what is slowly but surely happening to the Bills organization....Russ Brandon needs to stick to marketing as he isn't a football guy...he's a salesman!! Geeeeeeeeeez, here we go again rebuilding...it's now clear to me after this long blog and thinking deeply about our team! GOOOOOOOOOO Billlllls!
  11. I like the part about Jauron getting canned, but I don't see Van Pelt being both H/Coach & OC. V/Pelt already stated that he likes to be removed from the sideline and in a box while handling OC duties. I don't know for sure, but I think the Bills may promote B. April to head coach as he stays on the sidelines during the game and seems to be a good interim choice. I would love to see Mike Shanahan, Bill Cowher or anyone else that has prior H/C success on his resume and has a pulse! D.J. is as energetic as the Tin Man in OZ and has about as much courage as the Lion ie: 4th down and punt when down by 2 scores with 7:43 left in the game? Anyways, I agree with you generally except for Van Pelt's promotion.
  12. I say fire Jauron now like they did with Turk! Why wait till the season is too far gone? Definitely if they lose to 0-3 Miami then Coach Jauron needs to be shown the exit..That poor camel's back has been broken for a while and that straw must have came from the scarecrow from the Wizard of Oz which is on right now! I think Jauron looks alot like the tin man to me and could have used some of the Lion's courage to go for it on 4th down, down by two scores with 7 1/2 minutes left in the game, but the best Jauron could do was hide behind his sunglasses on a overcast day like the wizard behind the curtain! Get this fool out of here please!!!!!!!! Geez, I'm hoping that Tennesee fires their 0-3 head coach as he has been a great coach throughout his tenure and I would be confident that we would become a winner once again! I'd also be estatic if we could ever get Bill Cowher, Mike Shanahan, or anybody that can get a little fired up like Rex Ryan and has a pulse!!! We have this guy because he's cheap and not a highly desirable commodity! This organization needs to spend the money in the right places!...better than busting the Piggy Bank open for Ryan Denney or Chris Kelsay who were good today overall but are just overall average or good players at best. Anyways, Nothing will likely happen to Jauron until the end of the year during the end of the year (B.S. Session) evaluation of players and coaches....and somehow the organization & Russ Brandon will blame injuries or the T.O. project which failed and make a few token changes to keep us little fishes hanging on the line like we do each year! Your team/my team, but unfortunately top to bottom a sorry organization! I guess I'm a little more irritated than I thought about this team. The worst move we ever made was releasing Bill Polian...That guy is a football genius! He built Indy on the same principals he built the Bills...It sure seems as though Russ Brandon has more power than he should...He should stick to marketing and not mingle in the teams affairs. Maybe his title entitles him to that priviledge but he's not a football mind and we need some real football minds to run the organization. I would even settle for a Marty Shottenheimer if he's still with it! Oh well....Like we all say...Go Bills!
  13. No sarcasm intended, but Nelson is going to be good based on what? He is in his third week into his rookie season and he's already injured. You can't go by how he did in college ie: Ryan Leaf, Mike Williams and many, many other players! But, I sure hope you are right and he becomes the player we all want at TE. I just think it's way too early to even form an opinion.
  14. Couldn't agree more with you! WGR has become a joke...I even liked WNSA Better when it was around....These guy's talk about stupid stuff way too often! I don't listen to a sports radio station to hear about movies or other non-sport related topics...it seems more like an "E" channel sometimes. WGR has been saying that they won some sort of award for being chosen the top sports radio station in the country! I find that hard to believe..and they beat a subject to death and never seem to move on. I can turn on my radio at 6 a.m. leave for work at 6:30....(I am retired military, but now drive a school bus..) and at 7a.m., 8 a.m., 9 a.m., etc...they are still beating to death the same topic which is often boring or ridiculious. They have some stupid cougar noise or something that they keep playing and it's just "not even funny" in the slightest but they laugh like we the audience are laughing with them..Sorry WGR has gotten to the point that it really sucks in general. I like Thurman okay when he's on and sometimes Jerry Sullivan or Paul Hamilton...but Howard Simon and the rest of the gang are hard to listen to anymore! We always have to hear about Howard's stupid finances or how cheap he is and what he can't afford...I could care less! Just give me my dose of football and hockey and make it interesting and substantial! I wish there was a sports radio station in Buffalo besides this one as it's borderline on a good day! The only good thing on there may be the whiner line...p.s. that stupid Mike Mendola took my call for a call-in segment and told me to hold for my turn to go on the air with my comments about the Hall of Fame game in the pre-season, and that loser never gave me an opportunity to talk. I waited for 1.5 hours because I had something on my mind! When he screened my call he asked what I was going to talk about...and then they (almost verbatim) stole my thunder and said almost direct quote comments that I mentioned to the screener! I think they used me for conversation ideas and left me hanging like a fool. I won't ever call that sorry place again! I also hate WGR550 Stupid radio!
  15. I am closer to u than the original post: 5-0........... .01 4-1........... .04 3-2........... .25 2-3........... .35 1-4........... .30 0-6........... .05 Everything changes if they pull off tonight! If they did it's more N.E. turning the ball over and self-destructing than Buffalo being explosive! Hope they find a way anyhow though... Buffalo 27 N.E. 24 (Chuckle!) probably N.E. 27 Buff 9 oh well!
  16. If R.Brandon was doing such a "G/D Fabulous Job", as you so eloquently put it the Bills wouldn't be 7-9 the past three seasons and playing a technically speaking home game in Toronto! Buffalo has been nortorious for filling their seats even in the lean years. Dick Jauron would not still be here either if R.Brandon was doing such a splendid job either...Being in charge of marketing as well R.Brandon should be capable of motivating people to buy into his ideas, yet he fails to convince a 90+ year old owner to allow him to replace D.Jauron. As a business owner myself I am inclined to think part of the reason that they are keeping D.J. on the cheap compared to other coaches and dumping some salaries of players like Jason Peters and Langston Walker is that Ralph Wilson is strongly considering selling the team in the near future. The value of the team has gone up more than almost any team (3%) and it's approx: 900 million dollars...minus expenses= net sales value. If they were really interested in success they would have brought in a couple more talented free agents ie: Albert Hanynesworth etc....Well good post and it's okay in my view to disagree on some issues despite the anticipated negative feedback that you so proudly adore! Good luck & be happy
  17. Well well, we r out bluffing the king of bluffers and Coach D.J. is a shark! What do I mean?..lol....Think about these rash, unfathomable moves at the most inopportune time! (actually opportune time)...huh??? Well if Coach Belicheck knows what he is contending with he wins 8 out of 10 times, but....but...Coach D.J. is pulling the wool over his eyes and everyone is in on it....hmmm u say? Grab a Sody pop and listen in....yep...After all this is Coach Turks offense like it or not....but now Coach Belicheck has to prepare for anything and everything now that everything is topsy turvy....This is all part of the unexpected deception....We have several tricks up our sleeve and our offense definitely was holding back alot of the plays, terminology etc..in the preseason...it's gonna b hard to prepare for us and the unknown...also (check this out)...Coach Turk will be rehired (mark my word..I know!) The day following the game..Everyone will kiss & make up..chuckle! (Tue Sept 15 at a press conference with Russ Brandon at 1:00 P.M. Eastern Standard time. You know who is the real master of this plan? (hint...INITIALS R.W.) One of the reasons D.Bell had many snaps with the first team and also played with the first team some during the preseason is that we knew if DB was healthy we were gg to let go LW move on (and he'll b well off for his part in this)...Trent is confindent...T.O. (THE MAN) wasn't really injured...there's more and more surprises before and after the game so get your popcorn ready and sit back and enjoy the show. Although it won't be an easy task even with the deception..I think we will win somewhere round 27-24...maybe by a bigger margin! How do i know all this (who do I know?)Who am I really?? hmmmmmmm...probably nobody...Maybe I have watched the Wizard of Oz or the Philadelphia Experiment one too many times!! Y'all see...enjoy the post and the show!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  18. You both made good points! I was thinking about this the past 2 days (about someone else calling the shots..) I was reasoning that this is not very Jauron'ish to take chances on a rookie, to fire people, etc.... I don't know if it is R.Brandon or someone in Ralph's circle? I think Ralph Wilson may be fed up and expressed that some drastic changes need to be made now, and if they aren't then I'll choose the heads that are going to roll! (or something to that affect)...Too bad these decisions weren't made prior to preseason or mabe after 2 or 3 preseason games vice 5 ! I hope that they were holding back alot of their offense from us during preseason or I think we're looking at 4 or 5 wins! ( I say 10 wins every year, but for the first time I'm saying 5 wins! Yikes...GO BILLS
