  1. Well I'm assuming u are referring to a QB? Anyways, u must know exactly whom each team will be selecting with their picks, and know who will or will not trade up in the draft which I don't know at this point. I don't know which QB's will be available but I do know that their are at least 4 that I have some hope for as turning into a real good QB. We could also move up to snatch up a QB however unlikely that may be! Sure, there is a good chance Clausen and Bradford may be gone, but nobody knows that for certain! I've seen QB's sweating it out on t.v. during the draft who were projected to go much higher only to be passed on much later than expected. I believe that was the case with Matt Leinhart? If the QB's the Bills want are not available in the first and they determine that the next best QB should be a second round pick so be it! Then pick your left OT at the #9 spot...I'm okay with that and either move up to a late 1st round or early second round to get your QB ! Drafting is a fluid situation that requires flexability if your "Player" is gone! Hopefully, there will be someone around that we like in the 1st round for QB! But, even the NFL War rooms and scouts don't know for sure who will be there or not except for maybe your first 3 or 4 picks maybe! So congratulations! on knowing more than everybody else!
  2. This organization is so shrewd with their player personnel moves that they are thinking about offering the Philadelphia Eagles their 9th pick in the draft for a solid Pro Bowl left OT named Jason Peters who is a proven player now! Doesn't sound so good does it??? Then I wouldn't make the same offer to another team for a proven left offensive tackle when the average NFL career lasts between 4-5 years. We'll end up with a player for 2 years and then Ralph Wilson will not want to pay him enough to keep him so we'll lose that player to free agency ie: Nate Clements, Antwoine Winfield, Pat Williams, Jabari Greer, Reuban Brown, and many others!! Build through the draft!! That's what the good teams like Indy and Pittsburgh do !!
  3. I couldn't disagree with this blog more! Now, I'm okay with getting McNabb (but not for a 2nd round draft pick)..although McNabb is on the downside...and it's a Guarantee that T.O. will be gone as McNabb & T.O. couldn't co-exist the first time around in Philly...So that definitely opens up a hole at WR ! I strongly believe if you want to remake this franchise you need to draft a franchise QB in the 1st round ! Yes, I agree with you that we need a top left OT as well and this is the year that you want to find a way back into the first round and grab one!! New England finds a way into the first round often and did last year as well ! M. Lynch and our 2nd or 3rd rounder for another 1st rounder is fine with me! Someone was bragging that we have 9 picks this draft! I was like woopie, big deal...because 4 of the 9 picks were either 6th or 7th rounders which normally nets you a big nothing! IT's Quality versus Quantity.... I'll take quality everytime! I'd give all 9 picks for one Peyton Manning or Tom Brady! The same goes with respect to trading down....typically you are trading down to a more marginal player which R. Wilson may like because the player will cost less...but also typically be a middle of the road player like Ryan Denny...he's okay...never great...and sometimes good and sometimes not so good...we have mostly those kind of players now!! Get me two studs in the 1st round and a solid player in the 3rd and I'm feeling great!! The 3 biggest holes to fill and there are several...are: QB, L OT, DT. Brian Brohm needs to get a grasp of a NFL Playbook before he can be groomed to do anything but be Brohm's broom and sweep the fieldhouse after practice!! Sorry, but he's #3 QB at best right now! (If he sticks on the roster). So go after McNabb..don't give up too much in the process and overpay for a soon to be has been QB who will retire as an Eagle anyways! Draft your future, resign them when they get good without losing them in free agency and continue to build through the draft and you will have an extremely good team in 3 years if you make the most out of picking in the draft!!!
  4. Geez! I don't know...I really am not impressed with any of those options! Find me a Warner, Bulger, Garcia, McNabb, or someone that is okay to good that has been battle tested. Draft in the 1st round your QB of the future and sign someone like the QB's I mentioned for two years who can start, and mentor the young QB while we hopefully improve our offensive line and give them two years to gel ! Those QB's are just examples and I'm sure some or all of them may not be available..but someone along those lines that is on the downside of their career. I don't like C. Pennington but he normally wins a fair share of games as I believe his accuracy is pretty good? maybe as a last resort...but I hope they dump Trent Edwards regardless of there QB situation !!
  5. Here is an idea that came to me suddenly when I saw the topic! I don't like the current format of the hall of fame game nor the probowl! I think the timing of the probowl is lousy with the superbowl being the focus of football fans. I think that the hall of fame game is lame also. I would like to see the Pro Bowl Players from each conference play each other at the hall of fame game! Much more than I would want to see our Bills, Det, Cleve, Balt, Oak, Sea, or several other teams play against each other. I think many of the ProBowl selectees would play in that game and what better way to honor hall of fame players is with players like Manning and Breeze playing...that should one day also be voted in the hall of fame! Also during that time of the year fans are anxiuous to see some of the stars play...and the pre-season pace of the probowl game would fit nicely with the pre-season mode. Maybe there is a reason not to have the probowl then but I can't think of any...and the fans would watch and be hungry for football..any football after a long off-season!! Please vote on this idea!! Take the idea and run with it if you wish...submit it to whomever...as I think it would be a popular idea??? The hall of fame game would have even more presence and substance...the more I think of it it's a no-brainer.
  6. Can he play in the snow, and cold Buffalo temperatures? I wouldn't think he was exposed to too much of that even though I know they play road games. I know Trent Edwards is always far less productive in poor weather conditions and wondered what conditions Tim Tebow may have played in and how he fared???
  7. You must have had a hand in the in house hiring of Buddy Nix, Chan Gailey as coach and the no-name guy they hired for OC too (what's his name mothballs or modkins or something? Ralph would love to have you on-board as your thinking is within the budget as they are trying to not spend more than what a happy meal costs and with your thinking and Ralph's your definitely on the cheap express train! If you look in the pennysaver I think there may be a $ 5.00 coupon towards the purchase of our defensive coordinator!!! Me personally, I realize that the superstars generally lead teams to the promised land...ie: Peyton Manning, Eli Manning, Tom Brady, Drew Breeze, Brett Favre etc....normally the superstars (but not always..) are 1st or 2nd rounders...once you get down to the 4th round there may be one or more shortcomings of the player in the eye of the expert ie: law violations, slow 40 yd dash, poor mechanics, bad attitude, not a leader, too short, not athletic, injuries, etc.....but there are reasons..and normallly a 4th round QB isn't going to become a franchise QB! Like I mentioned there are exceptions just like not everyone who smokes gets a significant health problem...but the greatest majority do! So, if you really want a QB don't aim for a "very solid eventual starter" we have that potential with the knuckleheads we currently have on the roster! Get the QB with the most promise on the board as the QB is the General of your offense and the key ingredient in a successful offense & team!!
  8. Well I am glad that it is not just me who is in awe of Bill Polian!! I was driving in my car thinking about how he modeled the Indianapolis Colts similarily to the early '90 Bills ! Position by position he selected players like chess pieces! I wish the Colts the best in the Superbowl and envy how are Buffalo Bills were mighty and powerful at one time when Bill Polian was here and admit now that we have been a joke of a franchise the past decade. Indy was once a laughing stock too and it isn't coincindence as to why we have swapped places with them, and that is why the worst move this organization ever made (and we've made many) was by letting Bill Polian escape from our organization. Time and time history has proven that a good (or great) organization starts at the top, and each winning team has a very good if not great QB, and the good teams don't self-destruct, have 12 men in the huddle or constantly go offsides. So I guess good teams are disciplined, and good teams train hard, practice hard, and are not often soft and injured. Football is a sport for toughness, attitude, and discipline and as a team our Buffalo Bills have not instilled any of these qualities from top executive to the special teamer just trying to be a regular player. We may or may not win a fair share of games this year, but you will know what kind of team you will have for the next 3-5 years in the attitude of the team, the way we practice, the tendancy towards injuries, and the self-control and discipline that we display. Yes, 2010 season is the year we will be able to read into the future! Even if we struggle and only win 5 games I will be happy, as long as I see another QB who shows consistent growth and maturing, (and it's not T.Edwards, R. Fitzspatrick, or B. Brohm) discipline, and leadership ability. I also want to see the "me first" players gone from the team (M. Lynch, T. Owens) and any other negative influences that needs to be ridded. The Bills need to hit on at least 3 players in the upcoming NFL Draft. Preferably they will be a QB, Left OT, and a DT. If they can hit on 5 of 9 draft choices successfully (which we won't fully know for a few years) they may actually win 8 or 9 games, but that is a big if with all the holes they have to patch. Well we now are in the position where we need to wake up and emulate teams like the Colts, Steelers, or Patriots and build a team in the same fashion that champions do!! Go Colts
  9. Well if Lynch seems so undesirable to us..just imagine with our perception around the leaugue just how undesirable Lynch or anyone from the Bills probably would be. It's takes two interested teams to want to trade..and I think that we would be all for a trade like that...but I doubt San Diego would! I would put 100/1 odds against it if I were to place bets on sports. I like the idea...but just don't see it happening. Do you see any trades anymore in the NFL?? Maybe during the draft but I'm trying to remember any big trades recently?? Most teams cut undesirable players anymore it seems like...or don't resign them when they become free agents. I can't stand Lynch and think there may be some trade value there but I doubt anyone would jump for Lynch if it meant surrendering a viable player or sacrificing a draft pick in the first 3 rounds...maybe even 4 with his continious legal problems and poor personal conduct. The next suspension he receives for any law violations will probably be substantial 6 games to 16 games depending on the severity of the infraction. Lynch has also not been as a very productive running back in comparison to previous years. His average yards per gain has declined and giving that he plays a bruising style with little run support from the offensive line his body has been battered. He may be viewed as a player on the decline as the average running back only has a 4-5 year shelf like ie: Terrell Davis (Denver)..a world beater for a few years and then he disintergrated! Likely value would be a 5th round pick on the trade market! Lynch is not our BUS either! There is little comparsion between Jerome Bettis and M. Lynch! I hate pittsburgh (miami, Dallas, skins, giants, patriots,) but you have to respect their team play and player contributions over the years. When Pittsburgh needed Jerome Bettis to get two yards at the goal line, he would get it in and get the touchdown...You just cannot say that about M. Lynch at all ! As a matter of fact it's just the opposite...that is why we have such red zone (one of many reasons) problems for the past several years. We don't have the big back to punch it into the endzone! This is a long blog as it's necessary to squash blogs that don't make much sense and although I love what you are hoping for and hope for the same..I also am football savvy enough to know that it isn't likely to happen...and that although we have inflated value over some of our players (I do as well), that M. Lynch, P. Poluzsny, R. Parrish, T. Edwards, R. Fitszpatrick, R. Denney, S. Johnson, (on and on) don't have much star power and are not household names in this leaugue outside of the Bills Nation! We are two to three drafts away from possibly having a good football team! Don't count on much in the way of free agency as Buddy Nix immediately squashed that notion in his acceptance speech as GM. He mentioned that the best way to build a team is through the draft and something to the effect that he doesn't believe in going after your big name big price free agents only one or two middle of the road players to fill some personnel gaps in the roster. This team is unfortunately several players away from expecting immediate results on the field. Don't be surprised if the Bills don't take a step backwards before they can take two steps forward! There is some housecleaning to do yet! (In my opinion that should include Tom Modrak, but don't anticipate him getting the ax this year.) I think M. Lynch could be a player casualty during the off-season and T.O. as well. But don't look for the Bills to purge too much as they can't fill all their holes in the draft! The defense is solid enough to help the Bills be respectable in 2010 providing they can get a DT that can stuff the middle..With a solid draft, one average f.agent QB, one good left tackle in the draft or f.agent, the Bills could be a 7-9 win team, but realistically and based on previous acquisitions and drafts I am going to predict 6 wins once again for 2010 !!
  10. I could envision the problems incurred prior to drafting Aaron Maybin! I personally wanted Bryan Orakapo! To me it was a clear cut and easy decison to draft Orakapo DE over Maybin! I believe that football is a big man's game generally speaking unless your talking safties, cornerbacks, kickers etc...but for your O & D lines, LB's you typically want a tall, wide body, somebody that inflicts pain! Not somebody that is undersized like Maybin and who may grow into his frame in a few years! The average shelf life of a NFL player is 4-5 years...we already wasted 1 year on Maybin...Modrak & Guy sure missed on that one! Sure, Maybe Maybin is fast...but he will get knocked on his can in the NFL....If he bulks up and adds more mass to his frame it will probably slow him down...they should've passed on him...I am afraid of what these guys will do with this draft! Yeah, I can see them going CB again....They have many other needs...but that's this organization for you!
  11. Yeah..I agree about 9 picks being a good thing to some extent...but of our 9 picks 4 of them (almost half..) are 6th & 7th rounders!! How many 6th & 7th round picks have made any impact on the Bills roster in the past decade? Probably few if any....I'd rather combine a 3rd & (2) 6th round picks to upgrade to a 2nd rounder if any team would be a party to that...probably not because there is a seperation in talent typically between a 1st rounder and 2nd....2nd & 3rd...etc...that's why they are slated where they are. You can go ahead and trade M. Lynch for a pick and I'd be happy..but who wants to bring a bad character player into their locker room...especially an underachiever who is subject to a major suspension for any further law violations. So anyone we want to off-load will probably be a low demand player and only warrant between a 4th to 7th round pick. I really don't think anyone wants the Buffalo Bills castoffs that couldn't pull their own weight...We're practically a laughing stock as far as the perception of our team. I think the Bills have to go after a top flight QB at some point (and I think it is now)! Trent Edwards was a 3rd round pick for a reason! 9th pick take the best QB available...probably 2nd or 3rd rated QB!...Just do it...then package a player and a draft pick or whatever is neccessary to move back into the 1st round to get the highest rated left OT available....Heck...if you can manage to keep your second round pick then you need to get a DT too! This draft should be about getting the 3 or 4 best players you can get to feel your needs! If that means packaging the remaining 5 picks to get 2 1st rounders, a 2nd rounder, and a 3rd rounder...I don't care...it's quality not quantity this year! N.England moves back into the 1st round most years...they did last year as well...they ensure they get 2 top tier players! That's what we need to do....not just get a lot of average players like they have now! How many superstars do we have??? Lynch (no not really) T.O...? (no not really anymore)...Poluszny? No not so far..always injured....Jairus Byrd...maybe..but the returns are not in yet.. Mckelvin...maybe..we'll see...So who??? That's what numbers do for you! Give me one Tom Brady, one L.T. in his prime, one Peyton Manning...any one of these as a draft pick and you can have all 9 picks...it's about quality! No guessing on tweeners or undersized players that you think will grow into their frame....Geez Modrak needs to go too!! I'll pick'em...I have my own war room for the draft! I would have choose Bryan Orakapo 1st round last year! That was my pick! I would have choose Everette Brown who was available in the 3rd Round!... Beats Chris Ellis a couple years ago...and Aaron Maybe last year!....oh well I'm done for now...just had to express what I feel is important...Q U A L I T Y !! That's what the difference is between winning organizations and organizations that continue to be bad but field the same amount of players..
  12. Yeah, I don't want anyone's sloppy seconds !!!!!!! Don't want him...Don't want Vick, Garcia, Warner, Bulger....etc...Favre? well that's a horse of another color I guess but really he's a one to two year answer at the most!!!!!!!
  13. woops..continued...She calls them whiners!!!! grown men whining all the time! I always tolerated their mumbling...but lately I turn it on..see what they are talking about...and turn it off! They whine about a lot and offer few solutions! If I turn it back on the next hour sure enough they are talking about the same subject often repeating the same views they already stated! 9:15 A.M. still going strong beating to death the same crap! Sometimes talking about American Idol and other subjects....What the heck?? How did they win the Marconi Award? That award must be a joke....I used to love to listen to Coach Chuck Dickerson...He rarely bored me and I really liked his show a lot...Yeah, he'd talk of cigars a bit..and smelly jockstraps and a few stupid things...But he had personality! I sure miss the Coach! These guys really blow oats! Morning and Afternoon...but yeah, the morning is a little more tolerable at times. I like Howard Simon...but I'm tired of hearing about his personal life...NY,...His brothers, how cheap he is, how little hair he has etc.....I WANT SPORTS ! WGR550 AM isn't suppose to be the "e" channel..I don't care about gossip, celebrities....Darn it...it's sports time!
  14. Okay then...Why don't we call Marv back for duty, and maybe Ditka can get in on this Senior citizen club! It's pretty bad around here when the concession stands are considering switching from Pepsi to Ensure! It's pretty bad also that all these guy's remember our 50th anniversary team's inception into pro football! Here we go again playing cutsie...just like in the NFL Draft ! Instead of getting a young guy with talent and vision we get old guys that are losing their vision and wear depends! Smack me silly again!!!!!
  15. I would be happy with Jim Bates or D. Pees (formerly of the Patriots)... I think J.Bates is more likely as Bates and C.Galley have worked together before.
  16. Me too! But unfortunately, I don't think they really care....if they did they would have gone by most people's prospective coach list: 1. Bill Cowher 2. Mike Shananhan 3. Marty Shottenheimer 4. Brian Billick 5-997 998. Chan Galley Oh well....nothing like undersized players like Maybin and tweeners! I heard one interviewer describe Galley as a player's coach by the way!!!! Sound familiar? Go Bills!
  17. 24 Hrs before the news of Chan Gailey broke...I gave out some hints of info I was privy to...and I blogged several times that the Bills already had their coach locked up! The replys weren't all to rosy as several bloggers thought I was blowing smoke up their chimney! One of the hints I kept giving was calling the new coach " China Man " Who else would be called "Chan" but a China Man...ie: Jackie Chan... So my suggestion is for CHINA MAN... or maybe chop suey~~lol
  18. I'm a dumb %$# too! I'm still a diehard Bills fan...but as long as Ralph Wilson is the owner of the team I think we'll remain in the bottom half of the NFL. His faculties must be affected some and it's obious by the decisions that he makes. You can blame Russ Brandon or Jim Overdorf or Buddy NIX but when it comes down to it Ralph has always had his hands in the cookie jar and always will meddle! Yeah, it's HIS team and he can do that! But, he's just running it into the ground...I don't even understand why spending big is an issue with him! Look at the Big spending teams like Dallas..even though they haven't done anything in the playoffs since we did....they pour money into the franchise, new state-of-the art stadium...etc...great marketing, marquee players, and they are oozing money from all ends! So, I am not quitting as a Bills Fan even though I am fed up with them!!!!!!!! I will watch 10-12 games a year with enthusasim and be fired up...then I will quietly watch without emotion the last 4-6 games a year just for the heck of it! That is what we're accustomed to for now! Hopefully, when Ralph expires the Bills will somehow remain in Buffalo as it would be a bitter reward for the allegiance of the many diehard/dedicated fans to have the team load up trucks in the middle of the night and disappear!!!
  19. I love the NFL Draft! I research it...I have my own little war room set-up for that day each year...and I have a list for everything...best player left on the board...positional order ranked..etc....I have been doing this for several years now...The problem I have with the draft is that we still have John Guy, Tom Modrak, etc.......The Bills never pick anyone that I am hoping for! The last time we were on the same wavelength was win they drafted Antwoin Smith! Boy that didn't pan out so great and that was one of my few off base picks! The Bills have been off base more times than they have been on and that's an understatement..Until they get legitimate people involved in the draft process it seems fruitless to even speculate who may available...and who they should pick! Last year they could have had Bryan Orakapo DE !! They passed for Maybin...I was very upset as I was sure they would pick Orakapo! Everything I had info wise supported that choice! Too many examples to give to even bother...but as it gets closer...and the draft "experts" mock drafts suggest the Bills will take one of four or five players..you can bet they will by-pass them for some undiscovered small college divison II player or something like that! They'll probably go CB too! Even though they need another OT, QB, DT, LB, WR? etc.......Anyways, I will put Clausen on my Santa Clausen list as I checked it twice and he's been nice.....but I think the Bills will pass as a 1ST Round QB picked at #9 would require a bigger financial committment than Ralph Wilson is willing to make when they can keep the losers they have now...and maybe trade down to the 20th pick!!! Yeah, I think we're in trouble now! and I think I am becoming a real cynic regarding the Bills Organization!
  20. Oh my goodness...It's DICK JAURON !!!!!!! #$%^@#$$%%^
  21. Well u know that Ralph Wilson likes to bring in people he already knows right? Somebody that is available is always important...Somedbody that is likeable always nice....somebody that is priced reasonably....and has been around the leaugue for a long time...with an in-depth knowledge of 4-3 defense right?.....well the answer follows on the next blog that follows...
  22. Cigars and smelly jock straps !!! Hey I miss "The Coach" thinking that he is in Chicago or something like that...sure wish he'd come back and kick some bippy on WGR550 because those other guys are lousy! How can they win the Marconi award for sports broadcasting when they are always talking about stupid crap like movies and other non sports topics! I listen because it's all we have here! I think sometimes 1230 AM has sports but I have a hard time picking it up...They should take 1520 WKBW or whatever and make that a sports station and I bet they could easily out pace WGR...
  23. What a proposterous idea! How silly! Not too bright? What the heck! Oh wait my bad....we're talking about our Buffalo Bills here...Yeah your right anything is possible!
  24. Yeah and we have to be careful not to end up with Headphoneless Wade again! Yeah, I know that Wade & Ralph had a little financial tug-a-war at the end of his tour, but Ralph prefers to hire people that he knows and has recently stated that! Oh Oh...B. Cowher to Dallas and Wade back to Buffalo...but even that is better than D.Jauron, Mularkey, and Williams !!
  25. better yet...Sign up T.O. for 1 more year and even up trade for his buddy Donovan !
