From: I've been told McDermott prefers not going away to camp. Wants players sleeping in their own beds. But SJF contracts already in place. To: McDermott tells me I was given incorrect info. Said he loves the idea of remote Bills training camp locale. "You gotta get away," he said. Almost impossible to "misunderstand" that much. The Bills FO probably got an ear full from SJF and others which caused the 180 degree turn. I guess we'll see how McD really feels once the contract with SJF runs out. Anyone have any idea when that is?

Also solid choices.

Team USA to wear Bills-style jerseys in outdoor game
CodeMonkey replied to PromoTheRobot's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Worst hockey jersey I have ever seen. Thank god it's just for that one game. Local sportscasters had a good time making fun of it as well. -
Be bold, Rob Johnson or JP Losman.

And you think training camp at SJF is the reason? They have been doing just fine ticket sales wise even being a mediocre team at best. One or two practices is almost pointless. Not sure if you have ever been to camp at SJF, but the Bills do it right. Autograph tent for the kids and many more things. It's a great, fan building, experience. Bottom line, what McD wants is probably what McD gets. And I also get he might not want to spend a month away from home. But it would be a shame.

Yeah I read the Lakers was a possibility as well.

Except that 16-0 in the playoffs has never been done before.

Training camp schedule. - When will it be released?
CodeMonkey replied to Bad Things's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
My wife called yesterday to try and find out where you get tickets for the night practices this year and they didn't know that yet either. -
LeBron has. They showed him as he sat on the bench near the end of the 3rd. Dude was spent.

A bet on a sweep might be more profitable, and obviously much higher risk.

I know $200K isn't a lot of money to him. But generally speaking, risking $200K to win $62K isn't necessarily wise.

Jeremy Maclin (Agrees to 2 year deal with Ravens)

Or ... the QB after TT. -
It also helped to have a QB that the defense had to worry about for things other than handing Thurman the ball.

Being Bills fans, we can say McD and company almost cannot be worse than what we had. But, Burke is not a Bills fan. And McD is a rookie, the staff and structure are all new and untested, and to use your term, there is no cohesiveness now because there cannot be any. You see 10 possible wins. I happen to see about 8. There are others that see fewer, and some more. Again, we are Bills fans. But to most objective observers (and models) the schedule appears to be harder this year than last. His model is his model and he chooses not to disclose what his data points are. We can choose to consider it, or look for one written by The Senator that says the Bills are a lock for 19-0. It's the offseason

Who else is all in on this new way of doing things?

The Bills? -
My guess is he has factors like coaching staff turnover, veterans lost versus gained, last years starters lost versus gained, the draft grade, how the team did last season adjusting by the strength of schedule versus the schedule this year, other teams in the division and so on. Probably not that hard to come up with a reasonable model. But the nature of football and the unpredictable nature of injuries in such a violent game makes any model vulnerable.

Public Financing of Stadiums
CodeMonkey replied to IronyAbounds's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Agreed that it does come up from time to time here. But disagree completely about the value to a city of having a NFL team. There is is no "soft marketing" value to a city having a team. No one, or business, in their right mind is making a decision to go to a city, or stay away from a city, based on having a football team. Teams generate income for businesses near the stadium 8-10 days a year. Insignificant in the grand scheme of things to all but a very select few (like Hammer for example). I would assume the team pays taxes as do most of the management and players. But that in no way offsets anywhere near the cost of the stadium, ongoing maintenance and improvements, and other costs such as police presence. Having a NFL team is great fun for the 60,000 ish that go to those 8-10 games a year. But it is a very expensive luxury if the billionaire owners get handed stadiums by the city and/or state. Buffalo, and new york, really cannot afford that IMO. I live in NY, but not in Erie County. So if the county wants to give the Bills a new stadium, then go for it with my blessing as I have no skin in that game. The same is true if the Bills add costs like a seat license to the fans that go to the games (since they at least use the stadium) to pay for it. But under no circumstances do I want NY giving them a penny. Teams make an awful lot of money to burden the taxpayers, most of which couldn't care less about the Bills, with the very high cost of their stadiums. -
No NFL player famous in the world - ESPN

So basically, he doesn't like it so it is not a sport -
New HC, the off season high still in full effect, and both september games. No doubt you will.

Rumor- Bills will entertain trade offers for Watkins?
CodeMonkey replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I find it easier to avoid the used versus traded semantics and just say that drafting Watkins cost the Bills 2 first round picks. -

CodeMonkey replied to KellyToughII's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
New way of doing things? New HC (and all that goes with it) and/or GM every couple years for nearly the past two decades. This is business as usual. We will see if this pairing has more success in a couple years.
